Your videos really inspire me to keep going. Rn I’m dealing with low iron levels and I can’t train at full volume(50 miles a week I’m a sophomore in high school) and I trying my best to get healthy again so I can race a full capacity, your video are just a great reminder to keep pushing and everything will work out:)

Like the format...keep it! Fueling options: science in sport (sis) believe they are 40g of carbs so might not take as much (ie: belly not as full). Also Skratch has a liquid carbs that I've tried but that would allow you to adjust serving size and such (I've only used it once so far but wanted to throw it out there). Precision hydration is another I've seen used. Keep it up!

Love the video, man! For gels, I am really benefiting from BPN’s Go gels. I do one regular (mixed berry are good) and then one Maerten caffeine for a total of 6 gels for the marathon. Get them in early, every 20-25 minutes and good to go. (I’m obviously not an elite and almost twice your age! But it works for me) it’s been a journey finding gels that work for my gut.

you should try precision fuel gels, they are 30g of carbs so to hit 60 you only need 2/hour and they go down really smooth for me. huma gels taste the best but are only around 20g of carbs so you'd have to do 3/hour.

Maurten gels are the most neutral and easy to digest gels for me, though I don't use them all the time in training due to the high cost. It kind of depends on what you like/tolerate gel-wise. I've used Clif Energy gels a lot in the past, but I believe they're discontinued now. Gu Gels aren't too dissimilar to Clif, from my limited experience. Honey Stinger gels are decent if you like honey. U-can are okay. They're like drinking a watered down gel though

One additional gel thought (most have been covered here): SIS Go gels on sale at the Feed are the most affordable gel per gram (Carbs not on sale is 2nd) and super easy to take. Only problem is that they have 21 g in same package as beta fuel so they take almost twice the space.

Try out spring gels. They taste fantastic (like a smoothie) so they go down very smooth. Only downside is they are slightly lower carb then the average

You can try a different brand like SIS, there gel are way thinner than the Maurten. Or you can try to get carbs from drinks. Thats way easier to fuel during a run.

Some gels I tried when training for a marathon at the end of an ironman were SIS BETA Fuel gels, and also Precision 30 gels. I also noticed my HR would spike by about 10bpm when i took a gel and held the same pace. I would back off the pace just slightly when taking gels and i feel like that helped. But also i was mostly running on my own in the Marathon during my ironman and you will probably be with a pack so maybe backing off the pace when fueling isn't a viable option for you. Hope you find a good solution for you're fueling. 🐳

i've had gut issues with the mauten gels. Please try SIS 40g carb gels. Lighter load on a long run and easier on the stomach. Speaking as a guy who has a sensitive stomach but still gotta fuel for those fast long runs. SIS all the way baby

My favorite is Huma because they're very liquidy and not all super thick like Gu and other gels. The one downside is that they're SO runny they can make a bit of a mess if you eat half a gel at a time like me.

i swear by SiS beta fuel gels, they're 40g of carbs a piece, so you only need 2 at most per hour. max i ate during long runs were 3 gels for a 20 miler and didn't have any issues. come race day, i had 6 of these and did NOT have any problems whatsoever with my stomach. fwiw i had the orange flavored one not by choice but because it's the only flavor available where i'm from lol

Definately give Neversecond gels a try. Very simple and easy system to use. 1 gel is 30 grams of carb, so take 3 per hour and you’ll feel tons of energy. The gels are more liquid than the Maurten ones so that might help with feeling less full in the stomach. They also contain 200mg of sodium per gel which helps a lot (you already know about sodium because of the LMNT you use). Little cool fact about Neversecond is that their co-founder is the guy whose research showed us that we can use multiple sources of carbohydrates instead of just one, so he basically layed the foundation for modern sports nutrition (higher carb rates than 60 gram an hour). Hence, they use the science backed formula of 2:1 with glucose and fructose. I have zero affiliation with the brand, but just love their science backed products. Good luck with finding what works best for you!
