The definition for an Nations Empire is a massive territorial land owned by a Clan or (A country as you will), Having a good military (for ya know, wars) and need to be one of the best for there economy in the world (pretty much what America already have in our timeline) And with an Empire, democracy can exist and it never needs an authoritarian regime to take control. As long as the Empire is stable, no matter what ideology, America has a massive territorial land, riches and very good military power might. Signifying for the United States to be known as an Empire in our timeline. 😁

You should make a cold war between Russia and NATO, and when Russia and NATO get a lot more land than they used to, maybe they could go to war. Maybe have Russia expand the CSTO and Russia could do some of its own invading, and maybe NATO could expand more into North America and Europe, and maybe even the Middle East.

I’d try to see if there were any countries that wanted to join peacefully first. I could see a bunch of islands joining, especially with fears of climate change. Then I’d try to incorporate Greenland or maybe even Iceland. Countries without a military…similar to the Island scenario. Then I’d have a serious discussion with countries that are dependent on the US for commerce or protection. Thinking the Philippines, Mexico and/or Canada for beginners. You could also just start taking open territory. You could build islands like China, take Antarctica or even the Moon.

I don't think the U.S. is an empire in terms of the idea that the U.S will control your people and control your territory (kind of, depends on the scenario as it does happen). However, if you look at Roman history, the Romans did not directly assert control in some cases (like Egypt) but expected Egypt to bow to their power or empire otherwise bad circumstances. The U.S is kind of like that, but not quite the same. They are not dictatorial to their allies (Kind of not may be a better way to put it given the influence they have), yet even if they have a very large amount of influence they typically operate cooperatively together with their allies based on democratic principles, but also allies with many other types of governments. If the U.S. is dealing with non-allies then they can definitely operate like an empire kind of dictating if you don't operate how we expect we will take over which obviously doesn't work very well. They have done it several times with a mix of success and I would say more failure when taking this approach. They operate much better when being a friendly ally, though some countries will not allow for that and it is what it is. Let's face it, autocrats suck and cause most of the problems in world cooperation. Anyway, the U.S is kind of an empire that kind of doesn't really want to be and certainly does not operate like empires of old and does not view itself as an empire. It just has a lot of global influence that makes it seem that way?... or maybe that is what empires always have been I guess?
