Thanks, That helped. I plugged in Headphones and the TV automatically set itself to external speaker mode and did not go back to TV speaker after I unplugged the phones....had to go to advanced settings to put it back.... a bit stupid by LG.. has the latest firmware too.

Sound from bluray is much lauder, than sound of TV channel. When switching back and forth, I have to adjust levels. LG did not provide tool to adjust audio levels from HDMI inputs.

UNFORTUNATELY THE SOUND SYNC DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. I HAVE AN OLED55C6P HOOKED UP TO TIVO WHICH IS HOOKED DIRECTLY TO MY AUDIO SYSTEM. It is now May 2020. This video is not appropriate for new LG TVs. New LG users using a Soundbar may be upset by the issue of NO SOUND while running the Amazon Prime app and possibly the Netflix app. I have a new LG 65" C9 TV. I connect the sound output to a Bose 500 Soundbar using an HDMI eARC connection. No audio issues until I ran the Prime Video app today for the first time, and there was NO SOUND. If I chose the TV's speakers then the sound was fine. It is only with the HDMI ARC connection that I had this issue. Reinstalling the app was no use. I found what I had to do, was to go Settings, and to the Sound settings of the HDMI ARC and CHOOSE PASS THROUGH AND NOT AUTO. Most Prime movies use Dolby 5.1 and unless the Pass Through is chosen, there will be no sound on the Soundbar.

My LG builtin speakers are no better than my tablet in sound quality or loudness. Very tinny and cheap sounding. Wearing headphones is not an option for me. I purchased an OLED 4K, LG and got rid of my old CRT with surround sound. What's the difference, LG pro; large picture; con, sound sux had to purchase an LG sound bar with wireless bass to hear the TV from across the room. CRT; pro, surround sound with LOTS of volume and adjustments no separate speakers needed; cons, smaller picture.

To change the sound on LG tvs HDMI go to settings > hdmi output and then when you switch to hdmi it should say at the top after you switch volume L>>>>>R there should be a button under the tv. Use this button to change sound, but you need to do it as soon as you change to HDMI. LG tvs are fucking stupid.
