its weird watching this stuff i grew up with and enjoying and knowing how long ago it was and how the kids who are now the age i was then would have a totally different experience and perspective (possibly confused, bored or upset) at the shows i was exposed to

It always made sense to that Adult Swim would eventually be spun-off into its own network. Years later they have their own tab on Max, so I guess that sort of came true.

I was surprised they didn't mention the contributions of Aqua Teen collaborator Dave Willis who is largely responsible for Squidbillies as well. But my all-time favorite would have to be Moral Orel. Classic. And one which I wish they would bring back.

It's definitely not that CN primary is out of ideas, but they are definitely out of confidence in creating new shows. I follow a few show creators on twitter and they've talked a lot about how the network just wants to do reboots and specials with established IP right now. Having Adult Swim take over more of the time slots is their safest play and I can definitely see them testing waters for what to bring back by using Checkered Past.

@@IjiModo well season 5 or 4 which was the heart of the forest saga was cut short to 15 episodes and a special ending. Because of the merge and cutting of a lot of animators at CN Studios. It should have been longer

People keep trying to blame CN running out of idea, but CN like the other networks, are having trouble staying relevant in a world where kids can get shows covering their interests better online than TV ever could. I mean if they can make a cartoon based off of Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft and air it on TV, maybe things will be different?

Not really a necessary fact, but that Mark VII logo comes from an old production studio that created Dragnet and Emergency in the 60's and 70's. Only reason I know that is because randomly for the past 4 months I've been watching nothing but MeTV and all their old ass shows 😂. I'm damn 28. Why am I watching these shows? 💀. But it's still dope to know that the Adult Swim Studio got that from there

That woman was brilliant and so damn charismatic. I see why she was one of the first women to break through and run her own show. She knows how to connect with her audience. And all the actors she chose to star and guest star were so damn great too

While i like the idea of Checkered Past, i think it's a bigger sign that the CN block needs to have more shows in a Cartoon Cartoon type of manner. Like i could be remembering this wrong but back in the day we had Toonami from Monday to Thursday with Cartoon Cartoon Fridays being on, well Fridays with Adult Swim afterwards. So maybe a more structured style like that could help the channel

I remember the premiere when adult swim was only one night a week Sunday night and it made it feel more special cause u had to wait for Sunday night after it went all week until could tell they were grasping at straws for content with all the terrible shows they greenlite over the years like Saul of the molmen fat guy stuck in the internet and the heart she haller for example and the programming block has felt less special cause there we don’t have to wait for its content anymore we can just go to max and watch its content anytime we want and space ghost coast to coast was originally called cartoon planet cause the first soundtrack for coast to coast was actually songs from the cartoon planet era

I would say this the problem with the enitre entertainment space is its very stiffiling and controlled. A guy like sam hyde and world peace would have been s breath of fresh air but Around 2016/2017 there was anyone who is Alt right ie not actually alt right but to the right of Bernie sanders was considered too toxic. In many ways this has killed the creativity because creativity is almost always dissident to the establishment. In ways the raunchy late 1960s and 70s was a reaction to the clean 50s. In the way the 90s and earlt 2000s progressive and raunchy liberal humor was a reaction to the conservative 1980s. People like sam hyde and the new wave of right wing culture is a reaction to the stiffling modern progressive worldview that seems to be the norm in almost every corporation, hr department, and many governments and NGOs. Cartoon network and adult swim forgot the old rules that the kids will always rebel and that they're now the old fogies and not the new hip kids.
