Perfect 10! That’s the first test I’ve ever scored 100%

And I thought I had a high score, still, never mind! But, on a serious note, my heart goes out to you!

The test should have specifically mentioned religious abuse, although it falls under mental illness. Being made to fear the rivers turning to blood or having demons cast out of you is absolutely traumatic. Thank you 🙏

As someone with a 7 it blows my mind that there’s so many with 1 or less. Sorry to sound flippant but I feel I’d rule the world if I only had a 1 🤷♂️

Yeah, I just took the test and was expecting to get around 3. Nope, 7. Dang. I knew my childhood wasn't normal, but I didn't realize how bad it actually was with specific parameters put on my experiences... It's wild to me that someone could have a score 1-2 or less!

I’m a 9 and I had struggled so hard I’m 40 I got a degree in psychology. I have two kids and house and work for a Fortune 500 but I still deal with debilitating complex ptsd and it’s feeling hopeless now.😢

@@DonnaMayStanish the struggle is real and sadly you feel like nobody can relate and they think you’re playing the victim even though you try harder than anyone!

Finding the ACE Score Test, some years ago, now…was a game changer… Unsurprisingly, it was a 10… Found you last night, and been binge watching, since… Thank you so much, your delivery and information, is both comforting and unsettling, as I approach 70… Better late, than never… every time… Thank you, once more… for all you do, and the manner, in which you present this…xxx🌺

I'm between a 5-7 because I didnt find out about my dad cheating until 17 so yes it's a point but not as bad as if I were age 1-5, my family didn't love me that much but my Grandma did and was next door, and my parents are dark triad but my BPD sister also briefly lived with us and has attempted suicide in the past and acted crazy while living with us. My other sister was physically, mentally and sexually abusive and had NPD traits growing up and enabled by my parents and that was stressful to be around. My mom later assaulted me on mother's day in my 20s but had hit us based on her anger/rage issues. Thankfully she raged at work and her job had her take anger management classes. I'm focused on "How can I defy the odds now with all these mental issues and physical health issues that pop up on occasion?" I still need to cut off my family of origin or at least keep it minimal because they disrespect me.

its too bad this test doesnt include neglect...Its abuse.
@childrenofnarcissists Жыл бұрын
Yes, neglect is abuse - emotional, physical, educational or medical.

That's in the test. Not cared for

If an adult sexually assaults an adult two years younger, it is not dismissed. I don't understand the age difference criteria in the ACEs definition. Childrem can be sexually assaulted by other children.
@childrenofnarcissists Жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, This guideline is because sexual relations between children close in age may be seen as curiosity/exploration rather than abuse. In life, situations can be complex and messy so will not always fit this rule.

this misses out school experiences and abuse from older siblings
@NikkiC77710 күн бұрын
Right bullying at school, and by siblings, can be very traumatic for a child. It is often overlooked as a cause of trauma though. They should definitely take that form of abuse into account in that test.

Fawn and submit they are not the same , fawn is a passive way to gain a sense of control over the situation, meaning there is still hope, for a submit type there is no hope , nor sense of control when you fawn that can get you out the house even if its things like going to the grocery store , for your parents, or having to cook , so you can get some peace to yourself (even if they criticize you)watch your younger siblings it gave you a sense of responsibility (and depending on how you handled it power) its like being the hero/scapegoat , as long as you are achieving you are safe , and you have excuses not to be home , its just if you dont achieve then its thrown in your face , even if they didn't have to pay for it but yeah fawning is like a form of seduction , to submit is to give up ones autonomy fawning children are still willful and have leadership qualities , children who submit dont and sometimes become fragile narcissist especially if that becomes their tool (to where they become aware to what they are doing)
