This is one of the many reasons why I like working from home. I don't go out on the road unless I have to, especially in bad weather. I remember living in Denver and having it take 3 hours or more to get home in bad weather. I don't miss it, and that's an understatement.

It costs a lot of money to have that infrastructure ready. Here in NJ, they can salt every inch of road over night (from highways to side streets), but that requires hundreds of trucks and thousands of workers.

I remember the blizzard in Chicago when it came to a stand still in the 70s. I now live in Missouri and we got hit with mostly black ice. The crews treated the roads before and during. Kansas city got it the worst.

MoDOT is at fault for many accidents. They honestly dont even know the first thing of snow and ice removal. Especially in St Louis. Image 3 to 4 lanes of traffic one direction, and clearing only 2. Now imagine MoDOT alternating what 2 lanes are cleared every mile or so. Causes confusion and accidents. Was through there lastnight, and thats what they did. Plus i will add, lastnight, all east bound lanes were cleared and literally had not touched a single lane west bound for 2 miles. Or blading off the snow and leaving only the ice with no salt. Salt on the trucks that are plowing but not using it. Idiots.
