Such a bold exchange sacrifice by Morphy. Having played chess in Jr. High & High School, my interest started picking up again a few years after college, when Bobby started making news, going into the Championship match vs Spassky in Reykjavik (1972). I think I recall hearing about the amazing stories of Paul Morphy while I was still in HS (class of '65), but those stories were definitely trotted out again with the advent of Fischer. And considering what happened after the '72 match, the two make an odd, eerie sort of quasi-parallel. It's almost enough to make you take reincarnation seriously. ;-) Thanks, agadmator, for another fine analysis of another historical game! Fred
