Regardless of how long(or how often) an affair is, to say "it was/meant nothing" is so disrespectful because it means then that to the cheater, "nothing" was better than their relationship with the cheated person.It means that they never really cared about the relationship(or ended up not caring about it with time). The ex-husband already waved those rights, but I'm uncertain about what rights a surrogate mother could potentially have to the child they carried. Truth be told I also agree that a maternity test is unlikely to be necessary. My concern is what legal action the surrogate sister could take against op since I don't know anything about the laws surrounding such a situation. Then again I imagine that most if not all of that was covered in the surrogacy contract.

It's probably the easiest way to go about it. Only alternatives are a hotel, another person's house, or a public place/car. Hotels are expensive, easy to track expenses on a card, and require you to either stay late/for a night or pay even more for a daytime stay. Cars are easy to get caught in unless you know somewhere very secluded, and even then, it's a gamble. It's also something that is preferable to do at night time due to the lower visibility. Sex in public is hard to do consistently.

I think I know this story irl, heard it from my aunt. Idk if it can exactly be the same story or is simply similar. Anyways, in the one that I know, the husband and sister are married with kids and are living normally. And OP cut contact with them and is very low contact with her parents too. Idk if sister is working or not but aunt said after few years of struggling financially, they were able to overcome that and are now well off. Surrogacy means they took the mother’s egg (OOP’s egg) and the father’s sperm cell to fertilize the egg in a lab. All the sister did was carry the fertilized egg after it was implanted by a doctor. The sister is still only biologically related to the baby by 25%, like you are to your aunt.

If it was gestational surrogacy then the doctor took an egg from OP, a sperm from her now ex husband, ensured that the sperm properly fertilized the egg making it their child, and then medically placed the fertilized egg in the sister’s womb for her body to accept and grow into a baby that she will then birth. She could have adopted a orphaned child who desperately needed a home and a parent, but she chose instead to make her own sister birth a baby for her (I assume with her husband's sperm) and didn't at one point think that was a horrible idea. I can't be the only one who thinks surrogate babies are just... morally wrong to begin with. To grow up and potentially find out you were sold by your biological mother, and bought by your adopted one? It's just yucky.
