I know this was posted quite a while ago, but figured I'd comment. First... GREAT IDEA. I was looking around for cheaper ways to do this too, without having to buy an expensive RV roof one. On the air bit... you have a single hose unit... those use the ambient interior air to not only cycle in, but they also pass that across the coil and waste out. What you really want is a unit with two hoses. 1 for exterior ambient intake, and one for exterior exhaust. That way, you are not wasting your interior air to exhaust, and you are cycling the interior air progressively cooler. Much more efficient.

Use a composting toilet and put a shower in with a hose drain under the trailer so you control where your grey water goes. If you want to add a holding tank add an exterior one you can screw onto your hose. But a composting toilet is a must.

Pretty good video, I did the same with my enclosed trailer. Wished I could post some picts of it for ya to give you an idea but don't know how! Got my trailer done and will be post a video of it soon. Just got a new LG 10000 Portable A/C in mine and you need to watch video to do this for yours! Wrapped my hose in back of AC unit with Aluminum heat tape and probably decreased that heat by 70%. Name of video is Portable Air Conditioner Exhaust Hose Insulation. Sorry I'm on a Government CPU and lilited to what I can do!

If you haven't got an iPad mount yet, check out the solutions from a company called Annex. They make the Quadlock system, super secure. Only like $20 for the iPad case and another $20 for a pair of wall mounts. I use this w/ my iPad and iPhone (windshield mount, bicycle mount, etc.).

And a vent over the shower. You can set your toilet in the shower when you aren't showering so you can have a little privacy and the vent will ensure you both can sleep without gagging

The way i mounted it.. it would be better if pointing blowing the entire length, instead of toward the side wall.. It works great when outside temp is 70-85 or 90. but 95-100 deg outside, it is straining to keep inside 75-80. once it gets dark and temps fall back down, its fine.. But it depends on the size or trailer, outside temp, and if your trailer is insulated.. also if you have to start from inside temp of 90-100 then try to cool it down, it takes a while..

Just a thought... What if you backed that unit up to the wall and used an exhaust for a dryer? It might give you a little more floor space. Thanks for the video!

thought about the black oil change containers at walmart... they are thin enough to fit under the trailer, and blend in

Hey quick question on th AC Unit. How did it end up working out? Is it keeping your trailer cool? Is the AC Unit going bust trying to keep it cool? I am looking to do the same thing and was looking for feedback. Thanks,!

I am hoping to use roof insulation only and a stand alone AC inside my 7x14 cargo trailer. Do I have any hope of keeping cool during desert camping? Can you recommend a maker/model/btu? I've done so much looking online my head spins!! Any advice appreciated very much!!!

1KatKathy OMG NOO. lol i tried the Roof only method.. SUCKS BADtake the time and money and insulate the walls.. IF not , get a LARGE AC . with insulation you need 15000btu or 20k in desert

Might wanna get a little bigger BTU unit, or add 2 if, You have a Large Trailer, Outside temps are going to be 95+ deg F , or you like it Frosty... My unit is 8000 BTU... I wish i would have bought a 12000.. I might just get a second one. unsure yet. 110 deg august weather isn't here yet

I tried the same idea with a 12,000 btu LG unit ant the unit could not keep up in the Georgia heat. I returned it to home depot. How did yours do this simmer???

Very clever! BTW, What state do you live in? I've heard a dehumidifier is also a must have. The more I learn the more I need to know. ☘️

I would bite the bullet and vent it directly out the side of the trailer and flush mount it against the interior wall. with a trailer that small you need every inch you can spare

Well theirs negative pressure pulling outside air in that's why it lacks efficiency.

Duck tape your ipad to the wall. Get a bunch of empty gatorade bottles. Order pizza. Watch it grow. Best line... “if it’s blowing air out then it must be coming from somewhere, right?”

Why not install a window ac in the floor? It would work better and take up less space.

It can be done, with a little planning. Start with a "low profile" window unit like the Frigidaire or Kenmore model that is only 12.25" high but a bid 24" wide. "Split the difference" by having 10" of the unit sit below the trailer, 1" of it through the floor, and 2 inches above the floor You will need to build an airbox under the trailer to allow the evaporator side to circulate air into the trailer. You will also need a piece to direct 3" of compressor fin area down under the trailer.

I've worked with portable ac u its there longevity is questionable they die fast. The roof one too expensive and noisey. I perfers the window unit you can get line for $115 easy anywhere.

a small 5000 btu window unit will outperform both of those roll around units also...
