Air Hogs Titan Glider Brushless Conversion Slow Flight, Low Passes and High Altitude Glides

Took a video of the Air Hogs Titan Glider conversion to show how easy it is to transport, set up and take apart. Also wanted to show the model doing low and slow patterns as well as high altitude glides. Coming down from high altitude climbs from where you can barely see the model was a lot of fun. I like this model better than the GWS Slow Stick or the Multiplex Easy Star for handling, ease of transport and looks.... for a $10 airframe, this is probably one of the best investments you can ever make - not to mention the satisfaction of building it.

@Rcflyyer1 Thanks for dropping by. My EDF Kyosho A6 (see my other videos) is fun but not easy to fly. EDF's are a great learning experience and will add new dimensions to your flying skills. Please post videos of your progress and fly safe!

LOL ... so you have made those special landings ... I've had a few but not with this model. I fly a PKZ Stryker with a 2835 3900KV BL's running 6x4e sport prop for adrenalin rushes. The Titan is for the pure pleasure of stress free flying .... release the throttle and the model floats gently to the ground. No broken props, busted wings or broken fuses ...

@nightslash02 Thanks for dropping by! The Titan glider was purchased from Target for $9.99 USD plus tax - I don't know if they have them on stock for the summer season yet ....

Your is the first well designed,well thought out,not butchered canopy Air Hogs glider conversion out there. push it anyways. Seems to glide pretty well,good balance on C. G. Flying it a bit low for me though. Too many noobs do that and end up with scrap. Three mistakes high is rule of thumb on any plane. Even though it makes for crappy pics. I know you were doing that for everyone to see. Just let your new guys know,hey dont do that. I fly bigger planes than that,so I wouldnt even tear that one down. Nice job! I hope it inspires a lot of guys to invest $10 ,then watch them flip when the price keeps going up as you buy what you need. Seriously, a good cheap transmitter for $69 ,a cheap receiver for what $25, some cheapo servos and done and done. You got this.

Thank you for visiting. Yep, I thought about the height but it flies so slow without stalling I could not resist. You need to see the Eagle kite converted to RC with thrust vectoring yaw. Now I understand how eagles can soar and thermal so easy - it is in the wing design - when the kite goes into a thermal, it rises rapidly - my immediate reaction is panic as I see it going up by itself.

Nice job! My conversion has two submicro motors attached to the fuse where a 727 has them. Not quite ready to maiden it - waiting on small-sized servo wire in mail.

Thank you and good luck on your project ... might like to use a smaller camera maybe an HD key chain camera or those mini fully loaded 25mw FPV cameras as the wing loading may be adversely affected.

Hmm I think the props were 5" GWS HDD's but had the rubber spinner which was pushed fitted to the motor shaft. The motor is a brushless inrunner used for ducted fans - don't know the ratings as it does not say in the can. Overall weight - have not measured it really (I'll do that and post it on the video description) - but the parts that were added do not amount to much and the model still floats around very well.
@tsisapik

Hi! Please refer to the Air Hogs build video that has a lot more detail. The motor is a 20mm inrunner and the battery I used is a 2S 1000 mAh 20C Lipo. Other have used larger motors but this is what I could find in my "spares" pile that fits inside the motor pod with minor changes to the pod for wiring.

Hey bro ... no spar needed for the way I am flying it and I have not had a wing failure to date.Tried to keep the model as close to stock as possible - including the manner it was designed to fly - slow and non-acrobatic ....

Would the sub-micro motors have enough thrust to keep the model in the air? I have a Yellow Bumblee Bee power plant and rx/tx that I want to use for another Titan conversion - no servos needed but the model needs to be kept at a constant speed to maintain a certain altitude - much simpler than what I currently have and should be easier to build - no servo or control surfaces to worry about.

No wing ejections so far as no loops or acrobatics have been even tried - the motor is not powerful enough. If it the wings do get loose, a blast of hot air from a "heat gun" will expand the foam at the right places with tape shielding. Minimum moving part parts and keeping close to the stock was the design objective.Good luck on your build.

The two motors are supposed to supply 90g thrust each with a 3 x 2 prop so I think it should fly OK. The motors are HK AD-C5 with silver windings wwwhobbykingcom/hobbyking/store/__7025__AD_C5_Micro_Motor_4_6g_Weight_3700Kv.html (add in the 2 periods I took out)

You just saved me a load of headaches.....lol where did you get you motor and mount if you dont mind answering? I know some folks on youtube get mad if you ask where they got their stuff. I have an Eagle flyer and a Titan like yours that I am going to convert. And your set up looks great.

+Top Shelf Underground ... Hi ... here is the build video kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3jKl5mohMt-eJo which also has the part number for the motor mount (not sure it is still available) which you can DIY from balsa or scrap plastic. No idea what an Eagle Flyer looks like but I'm sure it will be a good project. More power to you !

Ohh ...those are brushless motors ... look very similar to the C20 which are used for the ELE micro models. These are definitely not motors I have spares for and are more expensive than the motors I use for my copters or even the Titan glider itself ...
