Thank you for sharing this with us! Yours is the first video I've seen that uses masking and cutting instead of a million pieces of tape to fill in the masked off space. Total newbie here, but could you put the masking tape , use a marker/pen/pencil to draw your flames, then cut them out rather than use the thin tape to sketch them out? Thank you so much for all of the tips and tricks!

I was thinking about just laying the tape and dusting with a matte clear coat and then peeling of the tape. I think that will leave kind of a gloss pinstriping effect. What are your thoughts on this?

I can't wait to try this on my bike! If I am doing this over a House of Color Kandy Basecoat, what would you recommend I do to prep the basecoat prior to airbrushing the flames? Thanks!
@AirbrushAsylum6 жыл бұрын
I would recommend clearcoating your candy basecoat first to protect it then prep, wetsand and then create your ghost flames. 👍🏼

Good evening, morning, afternoon whichever it may be lol. Have a question about this. My friend wants me to do ghost flames on his vent visors(things that go on your car windows so rain doesn't get in with window cracked a little) they are smoke grey color how would I go about doing this ? He wants to keep the smoke color but wants a 20ft sight any help would be appreciated kind sir.
@AirbrushAsylum5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, as your friend wants them to remain transparent and I am guessing they are made from a hard plastic then I would recommend a plastic primer first then airbrush and seal with a clear (may need to add a flex aid) if it’s prone to movement . Hope that helps 👍🏻

Great video. So will we see the end result on the panels with final clear? I also had the same question regarding straining a pearl and have noticed disposable cups are available with built in strainer of 120 for water borne and 220 for solvent based paints. Love your style and delivery.
@AirbrushAsylum7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and yes, I plan to showcase the clearcoated panels at this stage the customer has taken them so when I get them back and it’s a sunny Day I plan on filming them. I always strain my paints, fine pearls work fine through a strainer as they are also going through an airbrush not a spray gun however flakes are generally sprayed using a flake gun. I prefer the disposable strainers rather than the cups hope that helps , cheers 👍🏼

Great Job, I have a question regarding your pearl mix. What is your mix? ie: pearl paint, reducer, and or intercoat clear or transparent base? What ratio?
@AirbrushAsylum6 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what airbrush I am using for example one with a finer setup would need finer reduction whereas a spray gun or an airbrush with a larger setup would have a mix of 1:1. Ratios also depend on brands and temperature when painting , there is really no perfect mix it’s all about experimenting and working out the ratio that works best for you. 👍🏼

Great video. I have a question, I thought you were to not use a strainer When painting with pearls or flakes? How's the baby?
@AirbrushAsylum7 жыл бұрын
Thanks and baby is going great, I did use a paper strainer but only because it was a fine white pearl...if you are using coarse metallics and flakes then you are correct to say not to use a strainer...most flakes are applied using a flake gun. Cheers 👍🏼

Great tutorial! So when airbrushing an auto for example, do I need to add an intercoat of clear over my clear, or just scotchbrite my clear, airbrush then re-clear? Thx mate
@AirbrushAsylum7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, I only apply intercoat clear over raw paint and or artwork if the base is clearcoated then just wet sand the clear with either 800 or 1200 and you can begin airbrushing once done re - clear and you are done 👍🏼

Have you ever try making flame inside a RC body? Since you paint from the inside...

their is a more easer way to tape off the flame using 3m auto moto tape wider tape and put in the outer part of the flames masking tape is cheaper than the transfer tape he is using and if you going use trainsfer tape make sure u get med tack u dont want it to pull up or lift ur paint

How do you stop bleed thru under the masking tape or does it not happen like when you paint a house for example
@ozziejim84725 жыл бұрын
@@raypittman1063 I house paint for a living, when I mask up I run a blade over the edge so to flatten the edge and squeeze out air bubbles this stops paint bleeding under the tape. Good quality tape helps.
