A series of this kind of short clips covering basics is a brilliant idea 👍 Haven't seen much of that on other channels and think it could be very useful/interesting for many people, myself included 🙂

This channel has a lot of room to grow bc of your knowledge there’s so many student pilots that would kill for your mentor ship I suggest expanding this channel to not just flight sim stuff but more instructor type of videos maybe even basic maneuvers but I promise you if you take the time to make a mock oral presentation you’d get like 100k views easy
@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
@@Deanjacob7 That is actually what I am working on now with this aircraft basics series. It's flight sim but used as a tool to demonstrate maneuvers and so much more. When you say a mock oral presentation do you mean a mock oral for a private pilot checkride?

How does a blind man become a roofer? by insuring he does not hit the wrong nail!🤣 I would like to add! As you say starve the engine of fuel for shut down! Great advice! 😀The P lead (power lead from the Magneto) should be grounded in modern key switches but not always when the key is off. If the P lead is not grounded you could still have a hot mag. That is why you should conduct a ground check prior to engine shut down AT IDLE power to verify the ground is present in the off position. Return the mag back to both before the engine shuts down then pull the mixture! why? If fuel vapors were present in the Cylinder after shut down even with a properly grounded P lead The hot cylinder could ignite the vapors if the prop was rotated. BAD! (many airplane drivers want their Prop Vertical when parked. because it makes a better bird perch, I mean looks cooler.) That is my .04 cents you know inflation! Great video 😀🛫
@thecorporatepilotdad3 жыл бұрын
I always like your input and additions. I kept it very basic. The sim has failures for mags but neither mag would fail. Showing the result of a failed mag during the mag check during run up was the motivation for this video.

Great video, what's the point of having the left and right magneto positions? Why not just go from off to on (both) like starting a car?
@thecorporatepilotdad2 жыл бұрын
One reason I can come up with for having a left and right side is being able to test each magneto individually. If one mag fails and does not create current to the spark plugs to produce a spark, it would be difficult to know a mag has failed with an on off switch. The only difference would be a slightly lower RPM with one mag failed. This way both sides can be tested individually, and RPM drops noted to verify two properly working magnetos.

Does anyone know why the right mag is on the left and vice versa?
@cck07282 жыл бұрын
Good video. What is "mixture controller"? Is it a a carburetor? Thanks.
@thecorporatepilotdad2 жыл бұрын
The mixture control simply controls the amount of fuel going to the engine. As the airplane climbs, air density decreases so the fuel going to the engine has to be decreased to keep a certain ratio of fuel to air as the aircraft climbs and descends. That's where the mixture control comes in. Carbureted and fuel injected airplanes both have mixture controls.

@@thecorporatepilotdad Thanks for your prompt reply. Keep it up.
@DLN--___2 жыл бұрын
How do you know a Magneto is failing during flight? Thanks
@thecorporatepilotdad2 жыл бұрын
The normal RPM won't be reached if a mag does fail. When doing a runup at 1500 RPM most airplanes engines have an RPM drop of 125-150 RPM. The same would happen in flight and possibly a greater loss of RPM since the RPMs used in cruise are higher than the RPMs used during a run up.
