.... A circuit diagram of the coil windings and exact connection of the points is required .I'm contending that the collapse of the field is for the primary windings and the secondary windings step up the voltage generated in the primary but without a layout we can't delve further .

Hello, Thanks so much for all the instructive videos you've done already and the content you shared with us :) You have already helped me so much understanding the theory behind subjects which seems difficult at first sight. But your explanations are always so clear, straight forward and tbh, this is the best way to understand. This video is the perfect example! Would it be possible do one video related to the electrical circuit within an aircraft and its relating components? (DC/AC gen, CSD/IDG, shunt generator etc.) That would be really helpful and interesting! Thanks a lot in advance, and wish you the best, Cheers, Elise

i aint no engineer, but my bar-b-que lighter can make a spark with a AA battery. Why does it take 20,000 volts to make a spark in a plug with such a tiny gap? i don't understand...
@redwolfmotovlogsandstuff7302
@redwolfmotovlogsandstuff7302 2 күн бұрын
It's to ignite the fuel reliably the weaker the spark the more a chance your engine will knock (uneven or late ignition of mixture) or just not ignite the mixture. Ever notice how you have to occasionally click your lighter several times before it lights ?

Very clear. Is there a part 2? Do you cover "electronic' magnetos? That is, those without mechanical points. Or, are they not yet used on aircraft engines? Thanks.

basically, the ignition magneto is an induction coil that furnishes its own current.

I fist heard of these in a James Bond novel (original) I first read in the 1980s. Bond was following someone with a tracking device in his car. The girl with him asked what that noise was. He said "magneto whine". 😂

Self contained, generates it's own power, incredibly simple in operation, can be repaired by anyone in the field, yet people think it would be more reliable to fill it with electronics.
