Airforce Texan .308 SS 1-Year Review with Modifications for Winter Coyote

A year ago I began looking for my perfect Coyote gun. I tested the Huben .25, AeA challenger in .25 & .357, Pitbull .357, and RTI Prophet .30. I found the Pitbull and Texan were the only one that could Handle the cold winter weather because they had no regulators.
After my Texan mods, I found it was the one for me. The gun is essentially regulated, but without a regulator. Don't belive me, watch the video!

Congratulations on the EBR! You got me thinking about a bottle upgrade. Seeing you run low single digit Standard deviation numbers was amazing! I have seen what you’re talking about regarding increased shot counts on the 60-70’ish grain slugs. I’m trying to cast all my own ammo and I’ve not found a light bullet mold my stock Texan .308 really likes at 100 & out. My rifle does like 65 grn NSA and will group those under 2” at 100 yds. Still need to test AVS slugs. But again staying with the “roll your own” theme, the standard 34” Texan does likes the Lee 120 grn mold. Typical golfball size groups at 100 yds with between 4-5 shot & make over 250 fpe. Definitely uses way more air than lighter slugs. My fill pressure for the NSA 65 slug is 1800 psi. The fill for the 120 Lee mold is 2800. But anyone interested in casting, the Lee 120 mold is a keeper.

Hi you helped me once with suggesting the active 8 bipod your still using. So I'll pay it forward. Get the RMPA( rocky mountain precision airguns trigger with a ball bearing/polished trigger and a talon tunes light weight first stage spring. Worth looking into. Thanks.

True.. Shooting Coyote you could even drop your air pressure a bit and your slugs can work better at distance the higher air pressure (BAR) your shots can be off, when shooting slugs the lower air pressure you won't lose penetration and your accuracy will increase 10 fold.

Yea, I've been messing with fill pressures at different Temps. Over and over during winter. I'm just starting to figure out what to fill in what Temps to use. Quite difficult but I'll get it.

@@hkrobinson09 Its true with High velocity... if the ammo isn't matched to the velocity then it will perform different. Think of a bullet in a shell... The amount of grain changes things. If you added say 90 grain to a 60 grain shell its performance will indeed change and not necessarily better. So its the same with compressed air. More air won't make the Ammo you shoot perform better. And in fact will change things sometimes by a little and sometimes by alot. I'd recommend trying dropping your air pressure a little , shoot 10 shots or so. Then look at the difference. Your ammo still gonna get there and very fast. However when it hits where you send it... You'll see the major difference on live animals.. "Coyote " and so on.

@@easternblocairguns2728 for sure. The air temp especially in winter can suck.. just like summer and its really humid out. That changes so much. Winter when its crisp cold out and like 0 humidity... Its not so much your ammo changing its the tank. Because the cold will expand your tank. Alot of people put there tanks in the freezer before filling the for a few minutes or so, but if its summer and hot.. im not really sure how thats a gd idea... because your gonna go right out into the hit humid air with a nice cold tank recently filled .. how is things gonna react after 20 mins out in the heat. Know what I mean..? Lol. Anyways best of luck.

Question... Well a couple. What did that gun cost...??? Second Did you wrap that gun...??? It's absolutely Beautiful. Love it. I've bn wanting to buy a Good PCP Rifle. I've seen the Texan .50 in action and that's a Crazy powerful rifle... There's a video of it blow through 3 cast iron frying pans. Lol. It's a very pricy gun , and can one of these at around $1,200

Thanks! I got it professionally hydrodipped. I found this .308 used on AGN for $700, but put like $700 more into it. Yea, I still want to get a .457 Ss too. I'll have to do that down the road too.

Hey, I can tell you've doe the work to help me answer a few questions. I have a.45 cal airforce texan suppressed and i've noticed the lack of accuracy from time to time. Yea, if you tune it down and shoot 75grain or lower. I took a rabbit in town. It was just a soft "thud" sound.

It's sounds like it's in tune if that makes sense but in the uk you need fire arms certified licence for any air gun shooting over 12fp. Okay, not arguing power. Power means nothing. With the Texan's in Line valve, you can achieve powers at lower pressures. Belive me I had a .357 texan carbine, and a challenger .357. I need to full my Challenger up to 260 bar, Texan 200 bar to get the same power. I'm not taking about power, I'm talking about air efficiency, docile shooting gun, time at the range shooting, saving $ on air.
