@vullord666 Жыл бұрын
@@gbwildlifeuk8269 It certainly SHOULD be how comedy works. A lot of comedy will go the other route of shoving a joke down your throat. They can repeat it too much or linger too long on the joke or just explicitly explain the joke. Comedians can also take it personally if someone doesn’t find a joke personally. And far far too many people will take it personally if another person doesn’t find something funny. It becomes an “humor is objective and you just have a bad sense of humor” and “okay. Lets move on.” That’s not getting into the dreaded laugh track.

The cleverest joke in the entire movie went overlooked by many: at the very beginning, Striker (Robert Hays) drives to the airport in his cab, and a man gets in. Striker then tells his fare that he'll be right back, starts the clock, and runs off after Elaine (Julie Hagerty). Of course, then he boards the plane and the entire movie happens. After the credits, we cut back to the man, still waiting in the taxi, looking at his watch and going, "I'll give him another minute," while the clock has run up the fare into the millions...

Fun fact: Lesley Neilson had never acted in a comedy movie before this. He had spent his whole career in serious roles. He was hired because the comedy actors they tried out kept hamming up the lines. They wanted someone who could be funny while acting completely unaware that he was funny. In other words deadpan delivery of the jokes. Perfect example: the one about the hospital ( 3:06 ).

Man-boy grooming techniques - don't see that in films today. Turkey has actually opened a "gay prison" for that minority of men who identify as totally gay (most men being sort of in the middle between being attracted to women and men).

Bispings Eye so just like todays american prison.

Yeah, you enter as a heterosexual, you leave as more, er, open minded perhaps?

I remember seeing this in the theater and thinking about how all of the actors I had been used to seeing in serious roles over the years were suddenly in a movie that was a MAD Magazine come to life. That, I think, was the biggest thing that made this movie so much of a hit with the public. It was not a big success at the box office [in fact, it was a major loss for the studio], but over the years it has gained success because of it's cult status, and continuing influence on popular culture, extending into the 21st Century all the way up to 2023. Why is that? Because the movie just keeps getting bigger......and Leon keeps getting LARGER!

@Seatown Fan That's how he got the role on Naked Gun: Nielson was the only actor who auditioned able to keep a straight face at all times. All others ended up cracking at some jokes.

"It's an entirely different kind of flying." Altogether. I've seen this film at least fifty times and just now caught this.

It's unbelievable knowing that every individual joke, every small insignificant skit was choreographed. Nothing was improvised. And every single one is funny as hell. Some movies nowadays try so hard to make us laugh and fail miserably. God bless Airplane!.

+Chris Sullivan Generally I don't like comedy movies. This movie and Top Secret (where East Germany gets mocked) are my favorite comedy movies, despite of that.

+Chris Sullivan I still hate that bald smartass that works at the Control Center, you know, the one that doesn't seem to care about the passengers?! Why do jerks never get killed in comedy movies???

'You can't take a guess for another two hours?' is hands-down the best gag in the movie.
