Found the Orbweaver to be very delicate - found the palm rest would split (have owned 3 and all have had this happen, and have tried different heights and angles). I also found that after a year or so, the rubber pads would start to slide off as the glue would soften after hours of gaming. Worst of all, the keycaps became really loose to the point that they would fly off in games that required lots of WASD movement - I play a LOT of COD and this would happen all the time, especially in Warzone or largescale multiplayer modes. Its a good keypad but it could be soooo much better

Great video. Looking to finally replace my Belkin Nostromo n52te and it seems like Belkin design was bought by Razer some time ago. Had the original n52 in 2008, so they ahve been around for a good while. :) V2 seems like the way to go for now.

Love your info, correction to the beginning... The Nostromo N52 came out in 2001 and then in 2010 Razer and Belkin released it's successor. That N52 was amazing back in the day. Loved mine.

Best review of these items i've seen so far! I love the comparison and especially the feel of the keys. Surely everyone who watches a review of one of these keypads know what they are for, I like that you focus on the keypress (which is important to me!). I've had a Belkin Nostromo and a couple of the later releases of it them since they came out but want something with RGB so I can light the keys that are mapped per game, and was debating whether to get the pro or v2, and seeing the key press for the pro, that's a big no for me! Thanks for the awesome content!

Its like the Tartarus is the big brother to the Nostromo. I loved the Nostromo back in the day. The resemblance is insane, they brought back the d-pad with the round button above it, and the scroll wheel on the keypad itself. They just pulled an old Nostromo out of the closet added 5 buttons across the top gave it RGB lighting and BOOM. Tartarus is born. Thanks for the video man helped me out. I ordered the V2.

I've been rocking the razer nostromo for I can't even remember how long now but its the best peripheral I've ever bought for my pc I straight up have a hard time playing with a keyboard now only down side compared to these is it only has 3 rows of keys but I works great definitely recommend

I love my Orbweaver Chroma.. Wish Razer would just update it already. A wireless one would be awesome, especially with the Optomechanical switches. I have the Basilisk Ultimate which I love as well on my laptop. A wireless one handed mechanical keypad is all that's missing.. I've had my Orbweaver for years, holding up great all except for the rubber pad is all gooey. Probably need to peel it off, and cut out a replacement from some better material. Maybe some pleather and foam, dunno. Unfortunately the whole one handed keyboards market, is a niche market, so it doesn't get much love. The Orbweaver Chroma was by far the best product available in this market until they discontinued it quite awhile back.. I've searched and searched and can't find anything else even remotely similar. Mine is the Stealth Chroma version with the linear mechanical keys. Tried out the Tartarus V2 at a Best Buy, and didn't like the key feel or the ergonomics for my hands. Sadly there's not much I can do except hope and wait.. On a side note, Razer Synapse 2 sucks.. I may have to look up a stable version, but my Orbweaver is unbearable now do to the crappy software.. I'll often times be moving about in game and my keys would get stuck, or unresponsive in the software. Turn Synapse off though, and it works perfectly fine, just without custom key profiles.. I'm getting tired of companies putting out great hardware, but shitty buggy software. /sad_and_frustrated_face

Thanks for saving me money. I have an option to buy a new full price Tartarus Pro or a repacked Orbweaver Chroma for a half price. Going for Orbweaver of course. I was in doubt abou the optic sensors, since Razer here in Brazil is extremely expensive, but I don't have any other 'one hand' options with reliable macros.

10:00 Yeah I was thinking when I read about the analog switches that it just doesn't sound super useful? Like I can imagine where you could get use out of it but I can't imagine situations where I need one key to be two presses depending on how far down it goes. Other than maybe W being walk and run? Was just curious on how the keys themselves felt compared to the V2. I'm not crazy about the V2 keys either. I wish Razer would make another fully mechanical keypad again. I love the purple switches in the Huntsman.

idk man, I bought the V2 to hopefully replace my orbweaver chroma once the thumb stick gives out, I've got it tried it and do not enjoy the scroll wheel in the orbweavers 20 spot. Also the click is way to high and overkill if you are on open coms /streaming. I ended up purchasing a newer orbweaver for 140 which is pricy but not an issue.

just moved from Orbweaver to v2, button 20/spacebar feels awful on the v2 imo... I realize some people use that button as their profile changer so you might want to make it more difficult to accidentally press, but with respect to how your thumb is positioned it feels like it takes way more pressure than should be necessary to activate, rest of the buttons feel all good though and the wrist rest feels really nice when resting my hand on the device. Prob will try the Pro for the different actuation points.

Best Review on youtube for this product. I had a pro and i feel exactly how you descibe, this analog switchs are anoying and feels bad when pressing. I prefer a tatical switchs like blue or brown. A lot of people nowadays wouldn't want the hassle to replace a broken switch on a mouse or keyboard so they buy a new one. I had mine for around 7 years and I'm surprised only the spacebar is broken lol Might as well repair it since it's been going for this long :)

Great review!!! I have the orbweaver chroma it comes with razer green switches. you sold me on the v2. I HATE razer synapse I cant get legacy to run well with new synapse. I've used legacy for years no problems and bought a new mouse and now legacy freezes all the time. if I uninstall new synapse problem solved. so long story short I'm buying a tartarus v2 and getting rid of legacy. I was looking for a decent review of these gaming keypads, so thanks for this. Years back I had a G15/19 and a G13 keypad but like many things Logitech of that era build quality was extremely hit or miss and they just did not last. Seeing what those old G series keyboards sell for even used nowadays I feel sorry for anyone paying that. I know you said people mainly look at these for FPS/MMO use, but I know myself and a lot of others that do a lot of simulator gaming mainly use gaming keypads for their flight sims and games like Elite Dangerous/Star Citizen, etc. These things are perfect for use with a HOTAS setup. Instead of trying to find room for a full size keyboard in your setup, having to buy a desk with a keyboard slider or buying a bolt-on slider, or having a huge keyboard in between your stick and throttle, these are perfect to have sit in between your stick/throttle, or even small enough to mount next to your throttle if using a HOTAS mount for a cockpit chair setup. These have a small footprint, a large amount of keys for mapping, they're ergonomic and easy to find "blind" with your hands while wearing a VR headset, and also having another analog control wheel and a thumbstick on top of it, it's just perfect addition for flight sims and space genre games. I got back into sim gaming and was looking for one to replace my old G13 from long ago, and this helped me out. I just hope Razer built these half decent and didn't build them to break every other year so you keep buying one. It just sucks Razer are pretty much the only people on the market making these and there isn't any competition pushing for better versions and better prices.

I just ordered a Quest 2 headset for PCVR and looking for exactly what you describe - something I can find blind to go with a HOTAS or mouse (depending what I'm playing, e.g. Elite Dangerous!) I bought my V2 a day or so after I watched this originally and it's still going strong so it's held up to general VR use for sim gaming pretty well so far. I still do stick by wishing there were more companies out there making these to help drive costs down more, as Razer pretty much has a hold on the market with these and can charge whatever.

I am new to gaming I love the old retro Command and Conquer Red Alert and now I have discovered Sniper Elite 4 and 5 witch I like playing via the hand held controller. I have just decided to take on an other game type of experience Sea of Thieves it looks like a fun game but it has complexity that requires many butters and key board and mouse seems much better. But keyboard and mouse can not replicate the hand held controller stick and aim and shoot with your for fingers. So that's why I am looking at Razer Tartarus. If there is a left and a right Razer Tartarus you could have the best of both worlds. Move and shoot like a hand held controller and also have ease of movement for the working option key buttons. It seems a no brainer why not blend the best of both mechanisms into one duel hand operated operating system.

Respect honest opinion on any item, BUT to be honest, you can't say to someone that the analog switches are trash. They might be trash to one, but not to everyone. These type of things are subjective. It's always dependent on the individual. But I do agree on the value topic. For $40 more for the pro, you don't get much added upgrade or bonus included to make the $40 valid. But all in all, I respect your opinions and for the most part, awesome comparisons.

8:22 LOL! I bought a pro last night, and this is exactly how i felt! The keys were just too stiff for me, and it just required too much force to press, which hinders my maneuvering in game. I am so glad I kept it intact, and kept the receipt. I am taking it back to the store today to trade in for the v2, and get about $50 back! I used a Logitech G13, and it's failing me. One of the thumb buttons stopped working, and one of my WASD keys is intermittent. I waited forever for Logitech to come through with something new, but I waited too long, so I decided to check out Razer. I loved my G13, especially for playing Elite: Dangerous, but I have to move on

I do not recommend the orb Weaver, I had a chroma when launched and a few months later began to present problems ... Pads have gone off, keys stop working... The keyboard was really amazing and it was the best gaming experience I've ever had but the overall quality of the product was terrible

I use the orbweaver exclusively. The tartarus’ scroll wheel is pointless and replaces a critical key.

Have you tried to set a standard for button layout? You should have the option to do it automatically or manually if one wishes. It's amazing how boring, frustrating, and useless it is to configure what each key does per game or software (and you could even use it to work if you could only change those keycaps), that's why people stop using them. The Hori Tactical Assault Commander Pro did it, but the Razer gaming keyboard is more comfortable. I think the worst thing is wasting time programming and configuring everything for each game and software. If you make a "standard like controller" for the button layout, then you just have to copy and paste what the Xbox controller or PS controller does. For example, if the Razer 05 is X/A, then the Razer 04 is the circle/B and I don't know, maybe paint the symbol on the keycap with liquid paper, then it shouldn't be so bad to be able to use it regularly. I don't know when Razer will think more and make an Excel layout or better use standard Cherry MX keycaps just by making a inclined circuit board with a simple flex connector to maintain the inclined shape of the keys. In that way you could have A, B, X, Y and M1, M2 for macros. That please add real sticks like the ones on the Xbox/PS or do a 4-way arrows, 8-ways arrow interchangeable module or a "push button analog stick" like Thrustmaster ESWP Pro Controller did. I mean that Razer finally made analog buttons with the Razer Tartarus Pro (but they don't work well either because it doesn't recognize the height at which it is pressed well) it could even make the second function be with a little bump. I don't know why any company hasn't made it yet, no one has done a good job yet. Razer Tartarus has a good palm rest, but some prefer the Orbweaver palm rest, so you better stop making two types of products, just make one interchangeable. The same goes for the wheel that some love and some hate. Just a button above the arrows? Put two as start and select like controllers. Someone must do it more logically. The only reason why the gaming keypad or gamepad is useful is to reduce hand movements and to be faster by giving you the ability to use a real mouse to be more precise and faster. And if you want to keep the analog pedals that the controllers have for firing, maybe think of an analog click mouse. That's all it takes to create an awesome, useful, and necessary gaming keyboard or gaming controller (it doesn't even have a name of its own). If anyone reads this, please submit these ideas to Razer, Corsair, Logitech, Thrustmaster, or Hori.

Have you actually played with all three? I’m sorry if I missed that. Cause they love the pro better than v2 because of the buttons. They say the buttons don’t work for v2 after not to long of gaming.

As the owner of several Orbweavers, I can say they are phenomenal except for the spacebar that frequently goes out. (which is why I've owned 4). The best thing I can say though is that if your a new gamer looking for a keypad, stay away from Razer. Although they make good keypads, they will do something as dumb as discontinuing the orbweaver. So if your used to a certain layout, now you have to relearn playing games without that extra key you had things bound to. And they replace it with a scroll wheel. Yeah, I cant tell you how many times I've been gaming and thought, I could really use an extra scroll wheel. And if you think this is a one time change, its not. They used to make the Razer Nostromo which had the stupid thumb wheel before they came out with the orbweaver. So they will change your layout, discontinue, and stop supporting whichever you get used to. Morons.

Razer gear sucks because of the Synapse 3 broken software, so i recommend to not buy any Razer Product till they fix Synapse bugs

Do not buy this product! Its unusable right now. Razer didnt fix the sticky-key-problem since over a year now. Its a software issue with synapse 3. Your character will walk in one direction every now and then untill you tab this direction key again. Its totally unusable for any gamer and a shame for this company, that they didnt solve this issue since over a year for a product worth over 130$/150€...
