NI Maschine will now have to up their game, finally some real competitiveness so we all get better products no matter what brand we choose. A bit annoying that everything seems to be following the ableton-clip-launch thing tho.

Im talking about the recent Machine Jam and this clip launch thing in the MPC wich are obviously using the ableton style. Even tho in NI Machine itself the "scenes" are now very ableton inspired. I guess in a few years everything will be só similar it doesn't really matter what u choose to use.

We'll never really know everything this can do and can't do until it hits the streets. Expectations are already being formulated. Here are two of mine: 1 - I expect it to be able to play a single sample longer than 32 seconds. 2 - I expect it to have the ability to layer per pad more than 1 sample. Oh, just one more; I expect basic midi functions to actually work correctly.
@cygnusvideo7 жыл бұрын
It has to have midi FX, and they have to be assignable per channel. Sequencers have been out for too long for them to keep missing these features, and it's starting to make me scratch my head. I'm talking about velocity, randomisation, transpose, arpeggiator, chord, scale, note length, and CC LFO. limited versions of these are available in older versions of the MPC via JJOS and have been available for over a decade. the PyraOS which is on Squarp's sequencer features all of these to a great extent. software platforms such as ableton have had them for over a decade. If the MPC Live/X do not feature basic midi effects functionality for sequencing internal tracks or external equipment they are alienating people like me who want to exploit the device as a sequencer. I should be able to add in whatever Midi FX I want and be able to tweak their parameters via the Q-Link knobs, and if I can't, I don't know why I'm buying the thing. Even Elektron added midi effects like randomisation to their sequencers on the Rytm and Analog4. Chance/Randomisation is a great feature, so is chord, scale, arpeggiator, note length, midi note delay and more.
@inthefade7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. And MIDI effects like those are so minimal on processing power to implement, there is really no excuse. Adding an LFO to the CC parameter that controls release, for example, is such a powerful idea. There are so many options. However, though not the same as arpeggiation or MIDI delays, if it is at all like my MPC-1000 you can just program a looped MIDI CC signal into your MIDI sequence. It isn't the same as having an LFO that runs free from the sequence length, but it is pretty damn useful. I use it to change the resonance of my synth with a S&H-sounding loop while I play it live, and also to modulate the pitch slightly of my Streichfett to give it a bit of vintage "warble". Pretty useful. It MIGHT even be possible to have different sequences at different pattern lengths on the MPC Live. If so you could create your own free-running LFOs easily for any CC parameter.

Looks good but i can already do this with my surface pro which is already a computer with a touch monitor and i can install any DAW on it,my question is if the hardware has an inbuilt computer where i can install my favorite DAWS?,instead of this they should have created just the hardware with a mic input and a Microsoft surface dock,taking me away from the large computer monitor and giving me a small touch screen makes no sense,editing on something like this is going to be very difficult to do,the idea is great but i would prefer a dock that will allow me hookup my surface pro or any other touch tablet computer

mclevit The first MPC I got was a mpc 1000. I made a tone of beats on it even with the limited capability and indepth editing. This new MPC takes things a whole lot further than what was capable on the MPC1000. So if you look at it in that sense it will make a good piece of gear for someone. Of course it wont compare to a full studio setup at home. Thats not what this New mpc is about.

It's a UK pronunciation, like aluminium.
