It was good to see rain again and turned out to be a beautiful day. The dam was awesome. It keeps getting better. Since Utah I have been looking forward daily to your videos especially lately with a near 200,000 acre fire in my neck of the woods. Yes, you read it right it is the Creek fire in California. Thank you for being there you truly are a bright light in dark days. 💞

A little rain won’t hurt ya, it gave a nice feeling to the footage actually. Thanks for the videos, they are great. it’s nice to travel along. I live at the end of the 20 on whidbey island, you can turn left on the 525 and drive the island down to the ferry then take it across to get near the 5/ Seattle area back south, or take the keystone ferry off whidbey island across to port Townsend then over to the Olympic peninsula. Lake crescent and sol duc valley are really nice. Also hurricane ridge near Port Angeles and the big sea stack rock beaches as well.

Thanks Russ for another informative and entertaining video with beautiful images of our great land. FWIW I road the '01 Mex2Can AMA longest dual sport ride 2500 miles and enjoyed the splendid beauty of the panhandle following dirt roads and trails between Montana and Idaho. Your route thru Hell's Cyn and the small minning towns on the fireroads brought back great memories. Sure like to be following along with my rig but DW has COPD so not ready to hit the road yet hopefully pass thru this area in '21 if We can cross border to Alaska by then. Thanks again Russ for the Covid 19 virtural tour and taking us along with you with you. Safe travels.

There were two railroad subdivisions in the area, the BNSF Kootenai River and the Union Pacific Spokane. The trestle you saw running across the Pend Oreille River by the Albeni Falls Dam is the Pend Oreille Railroad. The BNSF Kootenai River Subdivision is a part of the BNSF Northern Transcon that runs into Seattle.

Love the dam tours of course. Love the drone shots. Another awesome drive is to Metaline Falls. The drive is incredible. Go through Usk Tiger and Ione. Very historic. If you are headed to Spokane hope you keep driving on Highway 2 and that will take you past Fairchild Air Force Base, Reardan, Davenport then Wilbur and take Highway 174 onto the mighty Grand Coulee Dam. Also while in Reardan is the Inland North West Rail Museum. It is open.

The NW is my favorite part of the country! When I was in Idaho I wanted to call the narrow top part the 'chimney' but everyone told me it was the panhandle. ("You know," they said, "Like a handle on a pan!") Did you know the name 'Idaho' was just made up? A politician wanted to call Colorado 'Idaho'. He said it was Shoshone for 'Gem of the Mountains', but apparently he was just sweet on a girl named Ida. If you keep going west, after you pass Spokane you get into desert. I've been really loving the forest and hills. Anyway, keep going! I'm really enjoying this series.

Glad you had rain & no ice or snow. Never have seen this part of ID. Very pretty. & that reflection at the dam...WOW! Not sure you'll be able to avoid smoke, haze, &/or ash from fires in eastern WA & in OR & CA. It's been pretty bad out west here & air quality's not been the greatest. We've had "fire in the sky"...an eery orange red glow mixed with brown + haze, smoke & ash from both smoldering fires & ones still actively burning N & S of the Bay Area (we're S, Monterey Bay on coast) but fires burning inland also (Sequoia Natl Forest, San Bernadino Mtns). Hope this info helps when deciding route S back to AZ. Also check out CalFire website. Have safe travels.

I'm really enjoying your videos, especially your northwest adventure this summer. I live in western Oregon (Corvallis) and have travelled a number of the highways you've been traveling. I was not aware of Hwy 37 between Eureka and Libby. Libby is such a cute town. I only drove through it once but really enjoyed it. I hope one day to drive the north Cascade's Highway in Washington. I've heard it is beautiful. Stay safe on your drive back to Arizona. Most of the west coast is on fire, so you might be safer getting to Arizona via the inland routes (east side of Cascades and Sierras). Thanks for showing us small town USA. Love it!!

That Albeni Falls Dam might prove a good hangout for railfan photographers, Russ. In checking Google Earth, that grade crossing just before entering the dam's parking lot which at first thought was taken to be part of a little-used spur for the power plant actually signals a gateway to several sizable industries tucked in between river and road just past the dam proper (seen in the background when you fly the drone.) Knowing what day the facilities were to be serviced, the photog(s) could locate at the parking lot and perhaps set up some scenic backdrops incorporating the falls/dam when recording the switching maneuvers.

Love Idaho. My daughter lives in Sandpoint and it's mostly a tourist town. There is a small state park in Sagle just south of Sandpoint. I was going to stay at but my 25ft Class C is to large. Small park with small spots. Such a beautiful area.

Russ... it may be too late given where you are or going.. but just north of you here in eastern WA is Boundary Dam -- it's campground and Vista -- very nice free campground and views in extreme NE of WA just a few miles from CA. it is a short side trip going north at Tiger up to and little past Metaline Falls also when you do get to the west coast on 20.. you should do a side trip just north of where 20 hits the cost - go up to 542 and drive into see mt baker and mt shuksan take a ferry out to the olympic pennisula and go down coastal 101 on your way back to AZ

I don't know how far ahead of your videos you are, but ahead of you here is Republic. In the middle of town is a hill of slate and a company called Stone Rose will rent you hammers and chisels so you can dig for fossils. Occasionally people find ancient ocean fish, SR keeps them but you get credit for finding them. You can keep 3, and they tell you what you have and how old they are. It's a lot of fun!

Also in Part of the Washington state Area around Salem. If you are their say hello to pastor Marty Church of Christ he is my cousin.
