The most damning evidence was the repayment deal that he was working out to repay his thefts that included his wife's Edisto property which no longer had his name on it. There's the motivation on Miss Maggie's murder.

I have heard many lawyers criticize the prosecution for not laying out how they were going to prove their case; however, I do not think they would have been able to articulate the organization they (hopefully) will follow. Now that the judge has ruled (an issue that will be an appeal issue if the defendant is found guilty, but this judge has done an excellent job outlining the basis for his decision) THE PROSECUTION SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEVELOP VISUAL PROMPTS TO THEIR THEORY OF THE CASE AND HOW THEY HAVE PROVEN GUILT BEYONG A REASONABLE DOUBT. If they do not do so, then this case could well be blown, as we have witnessed before how easy it is for juries to be mislead. Defense attorneys are often capable of misleading a jury regarding the issue of “reasonable” doubt. I always fear outcomes in a society so driven by principles so prevalent in the Old South. Some names and heritage rises to the level of an aristocracy. Some jurors find it difficult to find someone of the class herald in historically high regard. Of course, the defense can argue that human nature can also love to take down the high and mighty. Thankfully, most research continues to show that juries take their responsibilities very seriously. Post modern America just struggles with basic logic, so I am not ever all that confident of the correct outcome.

This so that your crimes has a lot to do I believe with the motive for the murders. Tinsley was going deep into to his assets and Alex knew court was the 10th if he didn't have them turned over by then the judge would've made him. On the 7th is when the murders happened.

They covered this in the testimony. If he had done a better job covering up his involvement and was not a suspect, the attorney for Mallory Beach's family stated he would have settled the lawsuit for $500,000-$1 million. It would have been due to sympathy for his family being killed.

It seems to me the res gestae ruling shouldn't have been included. I question first if cases like Satterfield are "res gestae" but, more important, that ruling wasn't needed. However, it provides more fertile ground for appeal. None of it will matter, of course, since Murdaugh will be spending the rest of his life in prison anyway

Basically the guy fluffed up the evidence grand jury indicted on that evidence and come to find out that evidence was not true

Judge admits that this case is purely circumstantial and allows "financial crimes" that have not been proven in court to be admissible. He then speculates what the jury may or may not think based off this evidence? He really thinks the jury will hear these claims and not have bias? He is showing his bias and bolstering the State's case when it's the State who has the burden of proof.

Motive indeed. I can't get my mind into dealing with millions of dollars (doing good to balance my 1000s), so this may be obvious to some due to all the juggling goings on, but where has all that money gone? He owes millions to his firm, millions to a bank, millions to his housekeeper's son, 1000s here 1000s there, that money was used, spent, hidden, in Swiss banks, or whereever. Like his wife said to employee friend, "they didn't have that kind of money" referring to the suit against AM, so she had no idea milions had passed through is hands. Where's the money? He didn't spend it all on drugs, eventually this type of behavior surfaces and those around him would have known he was under the influence, radical combative and missing for at times days, nothing has been said he acted like that.

I'm not sure how everyone is liking this Judge - other than he appears to have reached the right conclusion. His discussion was meandering . While he considered legal criteria here & there much seemed lost in speculation on details. Just admit evidence as relevant and necessary to proving motive as well as malice. Premeditation. Weighing that value vs possible prejudice, is good & so is standards required but too much on details which need be presented at trial. If Judge had excluded evidence it might have required more in depth analysis. Just my non legal opinion of course.

As a former Deputy Sheriff Court Bailiff from my experience: 1. Judges are already pro prosecution leaning 2. This judge has already judged Alex as guilty-so watch him make sure the Prosecution case is rewarded with anything on the line. 3. As the judge said or hinted that he is aware that the States case is all substantial WHICH MEANS IR SIGNALS that he will let any of the States testimony allowed before this jury. 4. The judge knows this testimony of another alleged crime has nothing to do with this murder case. If the financial crimes were so embarrassing to his family this would be more of a murder-suicide case. No evidence has been offered that Alex would collect on a million dollar insurance policy! The State would have already presented that as a motive….the State hasn’t become they don’t have it. 5. The judge knows this will highly prejudice the jury against Alex DESPITE the later instructions the judge will give the jury [as to how the jury] should view the potential financial crime testimony. 6. The judge is highly aware of the national attention this case is getting-another reason this judge is leaning help the prosecution while covering himself as he interprets and says [even though it’s prejudicial BUT it’s more probative]. As a BALIFF, I can see where this judge is going. He will deliver this to the jury with his instructions as if this was a [bench trial] versus a jury trial so the jury is thinking like him. NOW YOU SEE WHY SOROS IS FINANCIAL BACKING ALL THESE PRO LEFT LEANING SOFT ON CRIME AG’s and DA’s. However, In Soros funding these campaigns it’s more about the unfair race component of the judicial system. Alex as a white man with black judge given my aforementioned observations DOESNT HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL IN THIS CASE.
