So, to be honest, I actually thought what they did in season 6 was overall a good thing. I mean, yeah it was literally the most insane season of any TV show maybe ever, but I liked how they just embraced the insanity that they've always skirted around up to now. Instead of trying to explain everything with “practical” reasons, they were just like “yeah magic is real, Tabitha is an angel sure why not”. I think that's what they should have done from the beginning. Because they always alluded to it, but never committed until it was too late and everyone stopped watching the show. I also think going back to a very simple 1950s setting for the final season could be good. That is, of course, if they actually stick to it and it's not one of those things where the first 2 episodes are them in the 50s and then OH MY GOODNESS WE ARE BACK IN MODERN TIME LOL SIKE! Nick Scratch committed suicide so he could be with Sabrina in the afterlife. But then again: Why am I complaining? Its not like Riverdale writers care about the canon. Edit: No. I take that back. I'm pissed. They just took the ending of Sabrina and just ... threw it out the window. It was a horrible ending, but I respected that they had guts to do something like that. HOWEVER, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa can't even stick with the ending of his own goddamn tv shows. ( Note: Those that don't know, Roberto Aquirre-Sacas is the executive producer of Riverdale and CAOS )

Yeah, what you said could be applied to all of the other seasons, but season 6 was weirdly coherent The magic and the other elements used aren't just thrown at us and we're supposed to accept it, it made sense and (unlike some other shows) they used timetravel and other dimensions in a very interesting and coherent way Even the writing was weirdly good, it doesn't even look like the same show to be honest. How it makes you think like the town has changed it's name and the "everything changed" thing is just to show that all of the caracthers are different now but then suddenly Rivervale was actually a parallel universe to Riverdale and they must fix it, that was a really nice way of playing with your audience Season 6 also fixed another big issue, they're not teens now FINALLY, so it makes sense that they can do all of they're doing, Betty is from teh FBI, Veronica now has age to open a business and all of that And even if they're supposedly teens again next season, I guess the plot would be for them to go back to the future and not the "teens solving murder" thing from the past seasons Of course I'm saying all of this guessing you watched the season, if not I would reccomend you to, just skip all of the others or se a review of them on youtube (you won't miss much)

That was the whole big start to them becoming adults. That's all the trailer showed for the season. This show had been going downhill for awhile, but after the time-jump, it just became supernatural fanfiction. And with the massive drop in popularity after they stupidly decided to take this route for some reason, the writers apparently decided to just erase everything to before the time-skip to eliminate the stupid fanfiction crap. It was both the smartest and dumbest decision they could have made. And Cheryl's magic use in resurrecting the dead and destroying the comet may be the cringiest thing I've ever seen.

Seriously, this show has gone so far off the rails that we can't even see the track anymore. It's like what happened with Arrow. At first, they were trying to do like Christopher Nolan and give us a grounded somewhat believable superhero story that was made for TV, but then they made a spin-off with The Flash and gave us metahumans, and logic and reason took a nosedive out the window faster than when the stock market crashed. Plus, we still haven't heard about weather or not they were going to follow through with the spin-off for Josie and the Pussycats, but after this season, I find that highly unlikely.

I think they were trying to replicate Stranger Things when they made it: a group of small-town teens trying to solve a mystery uncover a dark supernatural force. But not wanting to seem like they were outright copying, they went with the drug dealer/mafia boss angle first and then enacted the supernatural part waaaaay too late, and combining that with the fact that they're using the Archie Comics characters just makes this an absolute disaster of a show.

Honestly, this was a lot better than the ending I came up with. Here is how it goes : Hiram is back and Archie is on some base doing military stuff. Hiram’s mob goons raid the place and steal the nuclear launch codes. Hiram launches the nukes. He then makes the following declaration : “governments of the world, I have just launched the nukes. To where? Who knows. But some of you are getting destroyed, the only question is: what kind of world would it be if your enemy still stood while you fell?” Nuclear fallout and title screen into Archie’s zombie apocalypse for season 7.
