By definition, "Sedition" is "the conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch". Is it correct to term this definition as രാജ്യദ്രോഹം ? Isn't it more appropriate to tern it as രാജദ്രോഹം ? In that sense, what is the relevance of "Sedition law" in a free democratic nation ? In the same way, "Treason" is "the crime of betraying a nation state". (one's country.) Treason is more appropriate for the word രാജ്യദ്രോഹം. So, all sections , be it 124 A or 148 or any section dealing with sedition should be removed. പുനപരിശോധനയല്ല, totally abolishment ആണ് വേണ്ടത്. Yes, simultaneously a law or section should be introduced against "Treason" and its boundaries should be very specifically defined. Like to hear your esteemed views. Col. RC Mathew (Retd)
