Good footage, right!? I was sitting atop a bench to get this clear of a shot. Layne's voice is just perfect. Enjoy.

SWEET JESUS! How do you grow up thinking you can be a lead singer of a rock band after watching this. I'm not a religious man but if there is a god he touched that boy with THE VOICE.

This Layne compared to the 1996 Layne are like two different people; different voices, different look; different stage prescence. But both badass nonetheless.

I am a 45 year old male who was in my twenties during the very beginning of alice way back in the diamond lie days.My step brother jim cooper played bass with jerry in diamond lie and I was playing the seattle scene in my own band.even got into a boxing match with jerry over the mother of my kids.he won but she still had two children with me.I love chainz and still have my facelift demo.Layne you were 100% original theres nothing like your and jerrys dischorded harmonies.man those were the days.

Layne what a legend and he looked really fucking happy and healthy there, also love the interaction he has with the crowd throughout the show that you can only really have at these small intimate club shows.

19:53 shows the clear spirit n' chaos of what was Seattle at the time. Staley doesn't even blink. This is what we all saw in Staley back then...his banter between songs, actually having fun AND showing it and just incredible vocals. Remember, this is a handcam video from 1990, audio through a piece of crap mic on the cam. As for the Off Ramp, it was a special place.

THIS is the stuff that proves who is a true musician and who is just an over processed studio puppet pushed to sell records. No mixing or remastering and Layne doesn't miss a note. God, I miss his voice and the mark he made on music.

Layne is my favorite rock voice ever. Having said that Jerry Cantrell wrote most the music, and lyrics. Layne did write as well but the vast majority was Cantrell.

So lucky to live here... and to be old. ;-) Saw Heart at Astor Park in '75 with fake ID... and so many others early on. And then the mid-80s happened. Green River, Mother Love Bone, TAD, Mudhoney, Melvins, Nirvana at the Community Theater in Tacoma in '88 (there's awesome horrible videos of it !)... Pearl Jam outdoors under the Space Needle... all so good.

It's so good to see him loving life, which is obvious by the huge smile on his face. I hope he was finally able to be this happy again when he left this world that brought so much misery from drugs and the loss of the one he loved. Truth be told, drugs are not the way to heal the pain we feel inside, and only bring further pain in the end.

...Just Give Me Another Blast... When Layne sings he tears the sky, only the good Die Young; and to however said Jerry doesn't play shows like he use to well, he's 23 years older now, he smokes cigarettes, and he's had some tough times, I think he's doing a great job.RIP Layne, Mike.

i live seattle and frequently visit some of the places that they first played(lynnwood skate and bowl), or walk around the udsitrict where layne lived and got high. and apparently was seen around here and there when he was smacked out of his mind. Whats also nice is i know quite a few people who either met him or have partied with him before he was big. and that goes for the whole band actually. Hell that goes for pretty much all those great bands that call seattle home. awseom fuckin stories

I only saw AIC live once, opening up for Anthrax and MegaDeth. It was an outdoor show at Trout Air, just outside of Minneapolis MN. We sat out in the field and smoked hash before the show. God what good times those were... Like seemingly so many things from our youth, Trout Air was replaced by 'development'.

I bought Facelift in 1990. "Grunge" was not a term then. They were just a band that had a sound that was different from all the other bands whose videos were played on Headbanger's Ball at that time, and for that reason I instantly dug it. They only downside was they spawned a lot of comically inferior imitations (I don't think I have to name them). I suppose the imitators were paying them tribute in a way, but to my ears it sounded like mockery. They were missing the indefinable essence.

This is my favorite band Jerry amazing songwriter + fantastic guitar, Sean precise dynamic drumming, both bass players have been creative too, of course Layne's singing + some great lyric writing on his part, but I don't equate the band with the frontman like so many do. Most perfect combo of musicians IMHO, they became one artist. I think Duvall is talented too, I just think they need to write more potent songs for me to get that magical feeling. I like Acid Bubble off Black GWT Blue..
