@jacobreimer50029 ай бұрын
Absolutely, the timing and feel and rhythm, it’s all feeling. I’m sure they played this song in a practice space a thousand times and when you hit the stage and do an unplugged it’s so different. It could have not worked at all. But they just nailed it so right. Not even one of my favorite songs tbh but it’s so impressive how good they sound. This goes down in history as (as far as I’m concerned, mtv did a good job too) the best unplugged ever. But I’m biased and based. And nostalgic. And the opposite of sober at the time of this writing, so feel free to rip me apart in the comments 🤘

Truly. Same with Mad Seasons live performance. I like it even more than original . In this Unplugged, all these versions save maybe one or two are my favorites. I've got a pretty high $ system in my truck and I've got one set of saved tunes on my eq especially for acoustic music, and in every single one of these songs there is so much detail. I struggle sometimes to think its all real lol. Its insane the amount of musical depth they make with just their instruments . Excuse the nerd reference here, but its like the musical equivalent of Lord of the Rings. You watch it over and over and keep finding more and more details you didn't notice before. The tones Jerry and Layne use when they harmonize are extremely unique and have such an incredible blend. Il listen over and over and focus in on ones voice or one of the guitars and its like endless little gems. Its hard to articulate properly. When i hear folks compare to Nirvana or whoever i just get a kick out of it. They may be more popular to some , but they dont come close on the musical depth and level. Once you have an ear for picking out the variations, Nirvana can almost sound boring. AiC is untouchable

But when he was there, his voice still gave me shivers.... I come from the 80s metal school, where singers had those high voices... Layne was the first singer, in Rock music, to expand my mind about, how one can sing in Rock music.... His tone made the difference, the pain in his words translated with melodies... And, let s face it, even here, where he was evidently not completely present, his stage presence is great... He was like a some kind of presence in the middle of a buddies group... Love Jerry's sense of humor throughout this. The country song, the Enter Sandman go (cuz MTV and radio were over-playing the shit outta that song plus Lars was in the audience) and the Living Color reference from David Alan Grier "wrote a song bout it, like to hear it, here it go", which just happens to be my favorite Living Color skit. Miss you Layne.

Still, this is the top of Unplugged performanses ever! The guitars, the vocals, the drummer! Everething is at top level!

I am a very recent convert to AIC and absolutely love them. I got their catalog on CDs (ok, the Layne's era ones) and really like the studio work BUT this Unplugged performance was spectacular. It rips my heart out that the guys couldn't have given us more. Layne and Jerry sang as if one voice on multiple tracks. Still thinking of you Layne and Mike Starr. Also glad that Jerry, Sean and Mike were able to live through the 90's and carry on. ❤🙏

Jerry's guitar work is sooo point on with the same emotion Layne's voice puts out there . I think that is the magic of these guys. I'm sorry for your loss Jerry, he was your brother.

jerry looking at layne while he’s playing the opening riff is seriously sad to look at. imagine being jerry at that time period man must’ve been hard to see your best friend at a very bad state

Jerry himself wasn't treating himself too well either during this time. He had a nasty cocaine and alcohol problem. So, in a way Jerry could relate to Layne. It wasn't as severe as Layne's heroin addiction but he still loved him.

they both kick ass. good voices complimenting each other. it takes them all to make music like this. That's why they are musicians, pros.

This show is so fucking good I'm so jealous of everyone who was around in the 90s. Goes double for anyone who ever saw them alive. I'm 18, but I'm gonna be forever pissed that I missed the grunge movement by 30 years. Some of my favorite musicians died before I could ever get a chance to see them in person 💔

What makes this performance that much more amazing and special than what it already was, is that regardless of what Layne was going through in life and what he needed to do to prepare and get through this set, he was still able to perform at such a high level. Can't teach that kind of perseverance. I feel that this performance emanated directly from his heart, soul and his talents were without a doubt, God-Given. R.I.P Layne...You and the many gifts you gave/left behind in this world will forever be cherished, missed and celebrated!

Sitting on an angry chair Angry walls that steal the air Stomach hurts and I don't care What do I see across the way, hey See myself molded in clay, oh Stares at me, yeah I'm afraid Changing the shape of his face, oh yeah Candles red I have a pair Shadows dancing everywhere Burning on the angry chair Little boy made a mistake Pink cloud has now turned to gray, oh All that I want is to play Get on your knees, time to pray, oh I don't mind, yeah I don't mind, yeah Lost my mind, yeah Can't find it anywhere Corporate prison, we stay I'm a dull boy, work all day So I'm strung out anyway Loneliness is not a phase Field of pain is where I graze Serenity is far away Saw my reflection and cried So little hope that I died, oh Feed me your lies, open wide Weight of my heart, not the size, oh I don't mind, yeah I don't mind, yeah Lost my mind, yeah Can't find it anywhere Pink cloud has now turned to gray All that I want is to play Get on your knees time to pray, boy
