This Chess Piece Moves Multiple Times in the Same Turn! - Ouroboros King

Ouroboros King Part 2 - this game is more repayable than people expected. There's a choose your own difficulty setting that I will certainly be using to improve my play, and there's also the ability to draft your starting team. All the while, I'm checking out cool new chess pieces like the blade dancer. It's crazy strong, but will it be enough to beat difficulty 9?

I just got the game and quickly worked my way up to 30. After a few runs I noticed that the blade dancer and rook in the bottle seem to be the strongest things in the game right now. Dancer is practically an auto win if you can find any sort of fork and rook in a bottle is OP simply because the AI doesn't account for it, giving you free wins in otherwise losing games.

a nice combo is the shovel Relic that lets you create a rock at the beginning of the match and the one that lets you destroy rocks. When the Blade Dancer "kills" a rock, it gets to move again. So very often you can set up a rock to capture the enemy's king in turn 1.

yes, but the game would take the shield into account when capturing, it wont capture with the king unless they dont have another move (moving away from check, blocking, or taking with another piece) so use case of that strategy is pretty slim since the average piece in this game is pretty strong, most likely to be done by the portal mage imo

Cause in the final battle of Tyler’s first Ouroboros King video the king kept running from pieces it could’ve taken because taking them would’ve killed it with the spiked shield.

I don't think it had enough range? The portal mechanics effectively add an extra space but that still leaves it one short. Edit: weird, that game says it can. I don't understand why.

@@DavidGuild ​ at 6:07 in the first Ouroboros King video we see a knight go into a portal and seemingly get another knight move out of it. It seems that at the very least pieces with more complicated move patterns like the knight, and in this case the blade dancer, will essentially duplicate their move into the portal from the portal exit to find a suitable exit location. The blade dancer move I’m describing would also be identical to a knight move so that’s a precedent for this working. However 5:20 of this video also made me reconsider how portals work in this game entirely. The catapult’s move set allows it to move endlessly vertically but it can only move down 3 up to spaces after going into the portal. This makes me think that either: a) Movements exiting a portal are limited by the distance and pattern of the movement into the portal. This would be a consistent rule for both the knight and blade dancer cases, and the catapult case but it wouldn’t really explain why the catapult can still choose to move *up to* 3 spaces down instead of just being forced to duplicate the 3 spaces down move into the portal. That still feels weird and arbitrary. b) The 3 space limit is due to there only being 3 spaces left below the portal entrance that the catapult could’ve moved to if it didn’t go into the portal. This feels dumb but I can’t remember if any previous portal movements actually explicitly contradict it. It still feels dumb though because it would mean that the catapult’s portal moves are just it intending to go below the portal entrance but choosing not to use its hop over obstacles ability which doesn’t seem like something you can do. A knight can’t just choose to pause it’s jump mid air to go into a portal so why should this be any different? This would also make portals pretty ineffective as a portal too close to the top or bottom edge of the board would give severely limited movement under this theory. c) It’s a bug and I’m thinking too hard about it. Edit: 6:50 of the first Ouroboros King video contradicts theory b. There was only one space above the portal but the bowman moved 2 spaces out of the portal exit so it can’t be the number of spaces behind the portal that is limiting the catapult here. Edit 2: funnily enough 6:50 of this video also contradicts theory b.

Tyler could have won on turn 1 during at 8:02. Blade dancer through the portal take the bishop, then take the far right agent, then take king. Blade dancer is also awesome with “kill your own pieces” you can position something ahead of it and then jump off it into their pieces super early.

Or, to be an even cooler, you take a bishop, the other bishop, barbarian, and rook x while also checking both the king and rook, then when king moves you take rook, bishop and hope the queen is on the left side which means you can take it as well and win.

The Blade Dancer cannot attack adjacent squares and the move through the portal can only hit the center Agent X so it literally can’t kill 2 Bishops in a row 3. The relic that spawns a queen always spawns it in the top right corner for the enemy

There are so many types of chess. Chess 4 players, chess 3 players, King with a shotgun and this is one of my favorite chess type already and I did not even finish the video.

It seems every move you lose 4 gold that is rewarded at the end of the battle (starts at 200 in top left, beside the paper), whether this is a take, check, the OPPONENT moving etc. so unless a check mate doesn’t decrease this number you can never get 200 gold from a single battle. But this also means you are rewarded for fast checks mates/conclusions and so sacrificing for a lower move count is encouraged more, dunno if everyone noticed this but it is a nice feature

blade dancer is a downgrade for assassin, theres a cheese strat ive done many times in this game 1. pick up assassin 2. waste your money and all bottled pieces you can find 3. place assassin in the starting row, but not immediately adjacent to the king (prevents initial pins) 4. use pieces in a bottle to kill any unit 5. make your way to the king and ez win

I have an insane idea of making this a physical board game 3d printed chips with the character designs, the two sides being upgraded and upgraded. Use pulling out of a bag to do random draws, and have a booklet of how pieces move to make sure theres no cheating. (Coins will be difficult to track though, idk fully how they are used)

I beat the free mobile version on 30 difficulty (max) with my primary weapon being the blade dancer with extra daggers (you can triple or even quad kill but remember after your style points to actually kill the king) my starting loadout: assassin, catapult, Viking (RNG until you get the armory, then multiple relic chances to get extra blades)

The blade dancer has to be one of the strongest pieces, I mean being able to move multiple times in one turn as long as you are killing enemy pieces with it in those moves just seems so overpowered.

Agreed. While I find Assassin to be the weakest of the pieces that have a king movement or better, Blade Dancer is a rather significant upgrade. It's ability to fork enemy pieces and then protect itself with the extra turn makes it very strong. If I was to rank the Blade Dancer, I'd probably only put it behind Portal Mage and Catapult, though, if I do get a Blade Dancer, I want some other units that can move in all directions, like leper, princess, immortal etc, because they make great barriers for the king. Doesn't get fast wins, but I don't use the shop that much anyway.

Overall I'm only playing the demo but the blade dancer is the best unit in it, almost a space until the next upgrade point is WORTH IT. With the royal emblem (all pieces can also move and kill like a king does) easily QUINTUPLES the threat level and defense level. Edit: Got the full game, still op

I actually went to play the demo and max difficulty (30) is insane. I'm 1700 elo and it took me 3 tries to beat - and I honestly think I fluked it a little bit, though I played pretty well. AND THAT'S THE DEMO! If it went longer I'm not sure I'd be able to survive all the way. Very interesting game! I hope you keep going with the series.

No. The Blade Dancer does not get an extra turn when it’s turned into a Leper. Even if that wasn’t a Leper, the Blade Dancer cannot attack adjacent squares so it can’t reach the king.
