It is worth noting that these moves were played in 1+0 and 3+0 games. Edit: Also to those who think these moves are easy to see: you saw the moves because it was presented to you as a puzzle so you already knew there is a tactic in the position. It is a different matter to find these moves in bullet and blitz games while playing.

Like yeah, but it is difficult to not blunder in a bullet even for god damn Magnus. Not blundering is a great achievement, making brilliant move is achievement, but making brilliant move in bullet... Bro, many grandmasters are paid for their job, but only few you can even count on your fingers could ever dream about this.

Game v Tang Nxh6 "with both bishops hanging" No... Blacks white squared bishop on f5 is protected by the d6 knight, so not HANGING. "The king can not take the knight" Yes it can. If the king takes the knight the bishop falls for nothing. You know that sometimes (not here), loosing material is vital to gain tempo to continue with a winning idea. Never think CAN'T when you CAN lest you persuade yourself out of a good outcome. Just look at the consequences of the action. But thank you for the videos. Take care

Firouzja vs tang id have played bxg3 if he took f5 with the knight i push bxf2+ forcing the king to take and black plays kxf5 evening out the score. Hes up 2 pawns at that point still time to pull out a win or a draw. What do you think of my analysis? Feedback please
@maferreira1984
@maferreira1984 2 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by "evening out the score" and "up 2 pawns"? After the sequence you mentioned, White gets a Rook for 2 pawns, and even a "simple count" of material would yield 16 for White (R, R, B, 3 pawns) against 13 (R, N, 5 pawns) for Black. Yes, Black has 2 pawns more than White has pawns (5 vs. 3), but an active extra Rook is worth at least those 2 pawns plus a minor piece. Notice that those "extra" Black pawns are still at their homesquares and split, so next up White will simply play Rad1 and take over both central files, ready to invade with Rd7, chase the N away with Bh3 and then play Re7, easily mopping up several (or all) Black's pawns and creating all sorts of mating nets. Thus, after Rad1, Black will probably have to offer a R trade with Re8 to avoid immediate disaster and will be left with a N and 2 split weak pawns for an active R and an active B. Also, Black's "extra" pawns are on the kingside, where White's K is around to help stopping them, while the Black N will get overwhelmed by White's R+B, which are both long-range pieces. In that scenario, White can simply vaporize Black's queenside in no time (with both his pieces still defending the kingside from afar) and easily march the connected a-b-c pawns up the board while Black’s pony jumps around them like a clown. Computer eval after the line you suggested should be something like +10 (not just +3), considering the overall quality of the extra material White gets. There is simply no chance Black could even dream about drawing that position at grandmaster level. Maybe a slightly better try would be to save one of the B's and play down an exchange with a worse structure (split kingside pawns), but even that would be very tough at a high level, let alone against Alireza.
@jacobmosovich
@jacobmosovich 2 жыл бұрын
@@maferreira1984 everything after the trade is conjecture in my opinion. A smart player will outwit their opponent rather than give up. Both sides have good amount of material left. I would push my pawn structure on the left into a defensive formation and use my time to build a good defense. Avoid even trades at all costs. The knight is good at forks using the pawns to create a pile up can open up a very useful position for a counterattack. Either opening the pawn structure, tying up one of the rooks for a more even battle, or even grabbing a free bishop with a forked mistake on the rooks. Nothing is clear in my opinion. Edit: This is a quick game so i dont think he could have done it personally just because of time constraints. Move constraints its possible but time is needed to think.

@@jacobmosovich The positional assessment I gave after Bxg3 Nxf5 Bxf2+ Kxf2 Nxf5 Rad1 Re8 Rxe8+ Kxe8 is not mere speculation, but a basic application of chess principles. As to strategical approach, the one I offered just struck me as the simplest way to continue and win as White, but there are many other winning options available (perhaps some even simpler if you check with computer). The point is that if you put two top engines (not handicapped) to play the position, White would win 100 out of 100 times - and a similar result should be expected between two strong grandmasters, even in a classical game (Black’s helplessness is not a matter of time constraint). Of course that if you are a beginner/low-rated player and so is your opponent, then a position like that is still game on. But chess analysis should be objective - you have to seek for the best plans available and assume both sides will play only the strongest moves. Expecting to “outwit” the opponent, counting on them to miss moves/threats/ideas etc. is just hope chess, it won’t get you far if your intention is to get better at analyzing/annotating. If you really think the position is holdable for Black, try setting it up and playing against the computer (or a legit strong human player), untimed, and hopefully you should get a better idea of just how dead lost it is.
