By the time Jesus came to earth, a great many people had already lived and died. Why did Jesus come at the exact moment in history he did? Why didn't he come sooner? J. Warner Wallace joined me at the MAVEN conference to unpack this question.

From a linguistic perspective, Jesus came at a time when many languages in the "Old World", even those across different language families, still had similar flexible syntaxes, unlike now. This made translating the Gospel message into the other languages a much easier task, as the translations would be literal for the most part without confusing the audience or losing a significant amount of meaning, and I believe this helped the Gospel message to spread more quickly throughout the Gentile nations.

Great point. I have also thought, and have heard and read others thinking the same, that written Koine Greek as well as crucifixion share in the perfect timing. Crucifixion being the choice public execution style at that time, brutal and humiliating compared to other forms of torture/execution through history. Koine Greek being complex and exacting in its written form, a perfect choice to carry into the future and be translated into many languages. Gods timing is always perfect. I’m sure the complexity behind it and the many more reasons why than we’ve (and the video) mentioned would blow our minds.

There are so many things that I, born and raised in a Christian home, have never thought to ask or think about. Fascinating. God puts faith in our hearts that needs no explanation, but the explanation can still be a blessing if we receive it less as something we have to have in order to believe and more as something that enriches our understanding.

@@JamesRichardWiley that’s a very uneducated response. First God judged the world , as it’s his and everything is from him , not us. Second this life is not our true destination, we were not created to die, we were always meant to be immortal, the next life is where we will spend eternity. Third all children go straight to paradise and will be forever with the lord. Fourth God does not approve of slavery, if you read the scriptures it clearly says anyone who steals a person and sells him will be put to death, this is what modern day slavery is classed as. Slavery in the ancient world was about security and war , it takes a little reading and study to understand this fully. Fifth blood sacrifice? What animal or human? If you are referring to animals, this is all leading up to the ultimate and very last sacrifice, which was Jesus. You need to do some study to understand this, Jesus gave his life freely for us, he did not have to do this at all , God does not need us at all, but God loves us and knows how weak and broken we are and that we need a saviour, which is Jesus. Greater love has no one than this, to lay down ones life for his friends. John 15,13 Just try to understand this and it’s a start. Don’t deny yourself the knowledge that God gives us , as you are missing out on a eternity of growing in the true knowledge of God.

“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalm 2

*JESUS is COMING SOON!* Around 2 years ago I was out riding my bike along a spot that I'm not too familiar with. I felt that "not home" feeling and didn't like it; I started to tell myself *"Well, Jesus is..."* and before I could finish it, my head turns to the right and sees a big sign in the grass: *"COMING SOON!"* - Quickly I burst into laughter at the timing of this. It was *seamless.* So I went home and called my mother on the phone and told her about it. She quickly said to me: *"That's confirmation!"* - As *soon as she said that,* the memory was brought to my conscious mind that I prayed, *just two days before,* asking the Lord if He really told my mother: *"Soon, child, soon."* bass / baritone range, and cannot scream even close to that pitch in the dream. I learned later in the day that, just 2 days before my dream, *NY* lit up the *One World Trade* center building *PINK,* _IN CELEBRATION OF_ being able to murder babies in the womb at 9+ months! I was shocked (and disgusted) at how this was the confirmation to my dream. Will we be here to see this? I assumed so, or else I see no other reason why the Lord would show me this dream. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been born again since 1996 (at age 17) and my mother has been born again since the early-mid 1970s (her early-mid 20s). We've both had multiple experiences and words from the Lord over the years (about current situations at those times) but *never about anything concerning end times.* Only in the last couple of years did He wake us up to this. So let's keep watch. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Link to my forum where I've posted a few other experiences with Jesus + some of my viewpoints on biblical subjects:* kzbin.info/door/OqOr-lYMcAF-N39vx8WLngdiscussion?view_as=subscriber

Jesus was under arrest because Judas coordinated with emperor and crucified him. Al might Gid ascended Jesus directly to Heaven. Someone else die on the cross. One important reason Jesus came when he did: the LXX. Accounts were written about him in a very expressive, flexible and widely used language. Additionally, the OT scriptures that spoke of him were also translated from a globally obscure language (Hebrew) into a globally used language (Greek). Greek was used in various amounts from Spain to India.

The advanced attribute that Jesus taught upon and demonstrated with his life that wasn't accentuated in former messiahs was forgiveness as a replacement for sacrifice as the way to salvation. The Crucifixion was an extreme case in which Jesus could have blamed others for his murder and even up to this day many debate whether it was the Romans or Pharisees that killed Jesus. Jesus forgave everyone setting the Way for us to do the same, that he made the death of his body happen. We get what we ask for. So we can forgive everyone for anything we think others did to us. So it wasn't about sacrifice but forgiveness. Matt 12.7 "But if you had known what this means I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent."

Wrong conclusion. Jesus would have us have mercy , not sacrifice" is saying Jesus will be the mercy sacrifice for our sins. Would like to ask a question. How are you going to convince a young, Christian with a medical degree that Jesus was born of a virgin and that he woke up from the dead after 3 days, pushed the stone aside and walked out of the tomb? I used to believe that these stories were historical, biological facts back during the days when I was a young girl. I then had a chance of going to the UK for studies and that's when I had the privilege of reading theological books from British libraries and meeting up with educated, thinking Christians . That's when I had to change my mind and become a progressive Christian. The bible stories are allegorical and should not be read as if they were yesterdays TV news.

Let me try to answer that. If we were able to go back in time to say, the Medieval Age, bringing along some modern gadgets. It would appear incredible to people back than. God who claimed who He is. He who existed outside our space and time, the One who created this world, did present Himself to us as Jesus, with all the miracles ascribed to him, fulfilling all prophesies written about him in the Old Testament. The early disciples would be deluded and the Bible allegorical if it wasn't true. The entire case for Christianity collapses if the resurrection didn't happen.

I know the answer to that question and you don't have to buy a book from me to get it. The Holy Spirit revealed it to me through Scripture which is my only resource. -God's complete image (3x) and perfect likeness (7): 1) Father "7" 2) Son "7" 3) HS "7" = 777 -Fallen Man's complete image (3x) and imperfect likeness (6): 1) Soul "6" 2) Flesh "6" 3) spirit "6" = 666 When mankind was utterly helpless and unable to provide for his own salvation (because he was controlled by his sinful nature), Christ came at just the right time and died. The generations of Jesus Christ through the lines of Mary (Luke 3) and Joseph (Matt 1): -Through Mary: 1) Adam to 76) Jesus -Through Joseph: This one is harder to explain but there are 3 total time periods representing (2 free + 1 slave) with each period containing 14 generations. Free period #1: 1) Abraham to 14) David Free period #2: 1) David to 14) Josias (Before the carrying away to Babylon) Slave period #1: 1) Jehoiachin (After the carrying away...) to 14) Jesus Jesus death and resurrection started a new and everlasting generation for each generational line: -Result under Mary's: 77th generation = '77' -Result under Joseph: Free period #3: 1) Jesus; "If any man be in-Christ, he is a new creature", "If the son has set you free, then you are free indeed", "The last adam (Jesus) became a life giving Spirit", "The Lord is the Spirit and where the 'Spirit of the Lord' (7) is there's freedom" = '7' In-Christ, we become "777" If He had been born even just one generation early, it would not have worked. There's more in scripture to back this up, but thought I'd share this as a start. You don't need any other resource but the Bible to answer these types of questions.

The reason God chose Jesus his son was because the Jewish people were worshiping their sacrifices and forgot about God. the simple fact is Jesus was the final sacrifice that after he rose from the dead he baptised in the Holy Spirit .and is what saves us today. Professional Christian authors forgot about God And realised they could make a financial $$ income selling books about God. Matthew 6:24 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

But this are silly distractions from the real unresolved problem that Jesus as a unique Messanger came in some particular space-time locations, not embracing people outside. And so conservative, non-progressive Christianity, will not even right to launch, to begin function, before it solves that problem. So, maybe people outside believe in proper saviour unconsciously, anonymously? If so, that mission and proselytism is a faulty endeavour and uniqueness of Christ is only declarative, not factual.

I am a Christian myself, however its absurd to believe that an all loving, all powerful God can reign over this pain soaked planet of ours. What keeps me in the fold of Christianity is Jesus. While I don't believe that Jesus was the author of love and compassion, he in many ways revolutionized the word love and encouraged us to understand the world from the bottom upwards and in doing so to place ourselves in the shoes of the victims of a merciless world we ourselves have created. The God I meet in Jesus is not a deity or some supernatural being, but a very human person who had the courage to love, forgive and stand his ground against all adversity.

As a Christian I would encourage people to follow Jesus rather than believe the claims that are been made about him by the authors of the Gospels. The Gospels are not live picture portraits.
