What a beautiful heart-wrenching song. What a beautiful reaction and reactor. I'll let you know I'm a gay guy so you do not think I am perving. Many of us have not gone through this, but we all know what heartbreak feels like. Lara just lives her music and forces us to feel it. Lara moves me like nobody else. I know Lara is genuine and has gone through much of what she sings about, but she also is a very good actress. A few of her recordings show this. In many of her performances you can tell she knows exactly where all the cameras are because she often looks straight into your soul when singing for those of us who are not even there.

I only discovered Lara a few months ago.... unfortunately she's an unknown is Aus.... such a shame.... truly one of the best if not THE best female voice on the planet. Nobody delivers like Lara. Lara sang "For Always", in a solo version and then a duet version with Josh Groban: both are in the soundtrack of Steven Spielberg’s "A.I." movie. She also sang the love theme "The Dream Within" of the movie Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within. And she sang "Remember Me" the main theme song of the movie Cello. As for Disney, she sang the french version of the song God Helps the Outcasts (Dieu aide les exclus) in the french version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Her interpretation was so good that they added her french version to the english and US setlist in the soundtrack CD. Her songs were used in the soundtrack of famous tv series in Brazil, Taiwan and Philippines as well…

Hey, Alison. Your reactions always move me. Thank you for always being your true genuine self here. When you said you know Lara's voice from your childhood, it made me listen differently than I usually do. And I heard some nuances/similarities to other great female vocalists that I heard often when I was young. The one that resonated most today was Barbra Streisand. Alison, not Allie...I have to tell you, I am a 75 yr old man, married for 30 years, divorced almost 20 yrs now. Fortunately my ex and I have a good relationship (I'll go do her lawn later this AM). I have heard Lara perform Broken several times and every time, including this morning, tears flow. Her tone and delivery crawl into my heart every time. The split was my fault. Guilt is difficult to deal with but life has to go forward and healing is on-going. The heart heals but doesn't forget.

Lara is out of this world. Her voice is absolutely spectacular and her storytelling ability is just... insane. She feels every single word with her whole entire being and she lets us feel it too. She's incredible. This is her own original song, but even when she does covers (like "Je Suis Malade" which I know you've heard already) she completely transforms the songs into her own and she puts her whole heart and soul into them. Thank you for this wonderful reaction. I hope you'll react to more Lara in the future. "Adagio" live from the same concert (in my opinion, Lara should always be experienced live) and also "Caruso" are both a must. And "Je T'aime" in Paris, when she was going through a really tough time in her life and the audience surprised her with so much love and support that she barely knew what to do with herself. Oh, and her "Yentl Medley". The video quality won't be the best, but her talent and performance certainly are!

One line in the so I never understood is where she says “I would give away my soul to hold you once Again”; it doesn’t sound like forgiveness to me; but personally I don’t forgive very easily if I’m treated badly in a relationship

Broken Vow was used by Harrison Craig in his blind audition for the Voice Australia. Maybe that’s where you heard it? When he did that, the song was wrongly credited to Josh Groban, who made a cover of this song, but the original (and best) version is Lara’s 😊

She has so many more songs taking your heart away. Love from Montreal,Canada home of Lara Fabian when she hone her skills as a student artist and home for Celine Dion. Both woman lived in the same city. We are bless and happy! Saw Lara preform here in Montreal on her world Tour in July of this year. The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame). He is produced a song for Dimash among others. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels). When I first saw this video and heard her singing, I was pure and simply compelled to buy me the sheet music. I have done that (first time round) with any artist before. It's such a strikingly beautiful composition. Lara's voice is truly "music to my ears". She is my queen. "Broken Vow" would easily make a great Musical Show on Broadway. It has all the hallmarks of "Don't cry for me Argentina". Lara is in the vocal category of "LARA". she's definitely in a class of her own. So much more talented even than her top shelf singing. I would suggest you watch her video of "Adagio" I've been drawn back to that video at least 50 times !

Alison, While it's possible that we both have a subconscious memory of her voice from the song "For Always" in Spielberg's 2001 film A. I. Artificial Intelligence, I have an alternative theory. When she sings in English, I think she often triggers occasional subconscious memories of Barbara Streisand. She doesn't copy Streisand, so you don't necessarily think "That sounds like Barbara." But enough echoes are there to trigger a deja vu experience. We know that she idolized Streisand as a child and that meeting her in person was one of her dreams come true. Just my two cents. Lara Fabian is the best singer in the history of recorded music with tons of epic performances. Check out Caruso, Adagio, You're Not From Here, I Guessed I Loved You, Perdere L'Amore, Requiem Pour Un Fou, and Tu Es Mon Autre. But the best of the best is the very special interrupted performance of Je t'aime (live in Paris, 2001).
