As a 36er unicyclist, we thank you for using 36" tires on mountain bikes. It gives us more options for tires and rims since manufacturers have a larger market to sell to. I'm in love with my Vee T-Monster tire 😍

I can see how bigger riders enjoy this more. I've 26 and 27.5ers and I feel comfortable with them. I've tried 29'' few times and it's just too big for me. I'd probably have big issues shredding now the trail with 36'' but it could be interesting XC to go around. But probably more as a gravel-ish bike.

32" is a bit more doable and the first beach cruisers with that size have already turned up. I do believe the biggest that will work is best though, certainly for long rides with less struggling about tight bends.

Man, can't we get there incrementally? Like, a 30.5" then 32". Maybe a mullet 30.5" in front with 29er rear.

36 inch rims and tires already exist for unicycles. It's generally a lot easier to repurpose an existing wheel size than to introduce a new one which is why we have 29ers (700c) and 27.5 (650b). Although Walmart did sell a 32" cruiser for a while but I'm not sure if you can still get replacement parts for it
@mofosoto3 жыл бұрын
@@marshallferron agreed. I don't know every wheel size out there but I know there's all kinds of sizes of unicycles and odd sized bikes. Just seemed like an odd jump when riders are noticing differences in 1.5 inch wheel increase. "Should we go up another size? Nah, let's go up 6!" I mean why not go with the biggest wheels found on a penny farthing bike then if that's what you're doing?

same as 29, 29 has no reason to. its just a snake oil product and meant to give more money revolving around it, if bigger is better then we should just put 36 wheels on bikes. put modern technology on a 26 same on a 29 and im sure the result will not that much,

What is the science behind bigger wheels in bicycles anyhow in cars it can slow you down if you go above a certain threshold, im 27.5" currently but ive got an old 26" suspension mtb ive managed to beat cars in races around town on the 26" wheels mtb cause the cars need to use traffic lights lol and i can go routes that cars cant thats how i managed to beat motor vehicles on a bike, only local races long distance the car will take the lead i just mean short distance journeys on a bicycle can be faster than a motorcar !!

Well, why stop at 36 inches. Why not go clear up to a meter? Yes, it creates even more compromises in one's componentry, but brings even more benefits. The drawbacks? Increased weight, wheel inertia, potentially reduced rim and wheel strength, gearing problems, frame geometry issues, etc. But the cycling world left imperial dimension standards behind long ago. Perhaps our electified brethren will adopt them. Time will tell.

@d4r1us186 жыл бұрын
listen guys ... fun with a 36 inch bike should be out of discussion. safety must come first. those frames should be TOTALLY redesigned. for such a large wheel the whole bike , wheather its a MTB or a roadie it must be worked on a full aerodynamic profile. the weight of the rider must be distributed symmetrically across the entire frame. which means a more prone position on the bike would be required. just the same as in triathlon. for enduro or downhill all it matters is the head tube angle to be 66 (VERY SLACK - DH ONLY) or 68.5 (BEST FIT FOR ENDURO). i have had plenty of bad expierience with bikes that were just badly done from the factory - either too slack or too short top tubes. also the longer the top tube it is the safer the ride. if u plan a total revolution in the bike industry at least do something different than what it already is. the future begins with small but PRECISE steps.
@triumphspitfire4876 жыл бұрын
Just to point out, these bikes will primarily be for the biggest rider and tall people tend to suffer with back problems. If your suggesting a longer top tube and a more prone position you may design it away from the very people who would benefit the most.
@d4r1us186 жыл бұрын
@@triumphspitfire487 my point was not to design the bike away from those people. my point was for everyone (short to tall people) to benefit from an aerodynamic position and also a standard option (as in not aerodynamic - just like XC or AM ). dont get me wrong. for example - if a shorter rider wants a longer top tube just because he makes a choice of his own accord he will automatically benefit from an aerodynamic position which is a good choice.
