They don't actually make it with just things they got for $10. They also used spices, oils, wine etc that was in the kitchen. It wasn't an accurate representation of what you could make for $10. Also, even back then, the prices they had on things in the store didn't make sense. Only in reality TV do you get lamb for like $2 a pound.

you have to take on the 10$ and 15$ challenge. on 10$ there was 5 people. on 15$ there was 4. or maybe its just production value went higher so the studio can spend more.
@farrex0
@farrex0 Жыл бұрын
@@nevermind5657 Nah, the ingredients they normally use in any challenge will always cost way more than any 10$ or 25$ challenge. They use a lot of high quality ingredients and seem to always be stocked allowing the contestants to choose from a variety of ingredients. There always seem to be way more quantity and variety of ingredients than what they use. Believe me, they could make a 50$ challenge and they would probably be saving a lot of money on that episode. Specially since there would be no waste. So it has nothing to do with budget or production value. So the most likely reason is inflation.

He worded what he meant extremely poorly, which was that she won because he made a boneheaded mistake that cost him the challenge. Kind of like how late in season 3 of MasterChef where David forgot the rice for his dish and I think it was Frank who said that a contestant that had the ingredient that David needed and wasn't going to use it should give it to him because he should not go home because he forgot an ingredient, "he shouldn't go home because he forgot an ingredient, he should go home because his dish sucked". That being said, say what you mean and mean what you say, and "whe only won because I lost" is inviting mockery.

Inflation has caused my mind to be blown at what these chefs could purchase for $10, or less. Lamb, pita, herbs, feta, olives, cherry tomatoes, and more for $8.95. Even if I only paid for the small portions of each ingredient I intended on utilizing (which may be the case on HK) I would have easily gone $35-50 over that budget; and that's not including other consumables like salt, oil, etc.
@snerdterguson
@snerdterguson Жыл бұрын
It isn't just inflation,the prices they show are completely inaccurate. Even a decade ago, you weren't gonna get the makings of one lamb dinner for $10 unless you were buying in bulk. And the other things aren't even factored in. The contestants didn't buy seasoning, oils, wines, etc. These challenges always bugged me because I would be screaming that lamb is more than $2.99 a pound. Would love to shop in the stores they get those prices.

That Jason guy is the epitome of restaurant nightmares where the owners try to sell frozen food for high prices. First thing I thought of. Then tries to explain it away by being cheap. I don’t know how he thought fresh pasta and spinach is expensive. He is just lazy

Truly flabbergasted as to how, Jason, as a black jacket could consciously purchase frozen raviolis and didn't think he was going to get ripped apart for it. But judging by the look on his face when he told them they were bought. He knew... Yet still did so, even though he probably could have made fresh for less and even had a tad bit left over from that near 7 he spent on the frozen to add something extra to bring it all together.

The frozen ravioli being cheapest is the trap restaurants fall in - exactly with the same thinking. Another irony is that flour and eggs are so cheap, if you just bought it along with some ricotta you'd have a much better dish
