This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Acura Integra Type s compact sport premium sedan. The Acura Integra Type S has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an exclusive 6-speed manual transmission with rev matching, 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This is a FWD model and premium fuel is recommended.
This is the most powerful Acura Integra ever and is an absolute blast to drive, it’s a perfect car for people who want something a little more grown up and sophisticated. This Acura Integra Type S has a firm suspension, sharp steering, standard limited slip differential, an adaptive damper system, a Type S specific exhaust system featuring three round exhaust outlets and an active exhaust valve, Brembo brake calipers and 4 drive modes, comfort, sport, sport+ and individual. Sport+ takes it to another level with plenty of pops and bangs.
The Acura Integra Type S offers 4” of ground clearance, it is 2.8” wider than the standard Integra giving it a more muscular look with its bold wide body fenders and vented hood. It has gloss black exterior accents, a gloss black grille and tailgate spoiler, jewel eye LED headlights, LED taillights, Type S badging, wide 19” NSX inspired wheels with summer performance tires and a tire repair kit.
This Acura Integra is 4-passenger liftback is comfortable and spacious. It comes standard with a 9” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 10.2” digital driver display, perforated Ultrasuede/leatherette front seats with a Type S embossed headrest and a leather shift knob. I wish Acura carried the Ultrasuede trimmed seats to the rear as the red leatherette is a bit polarizing without some black trim.
The Acura Integra Type S is missing some features like ventilated fronts seats, driver seat memory, a power passenger seat, moonroof and heated rear seats.
Fuel economy, the Type S gets 11.1L/100 km, 21 MPG city and 8.3L/100 km, 28 MPG highway.
Priced at $58,320 C$AD/$50,800 USD.

So glad you were finally able to do your review of the Type S. I've been waiting for your comments. You guys always do a great job with your honest impressions. This car is getable at msrp, and there are Acura dealerships that sell at sticker. I got on a dealer list on 6/8 and was 7th on their list. They sold their demo on 7/24 and I moved up to 5th. Got a call they were delivered a surprise Type S in white/red and was mine if I wanted it, because those in front of me wanted other colors. I jumped on it and finished the deal msrp and accessories I wanted...spoiler, mirror caps. The car is being delivered to me in the Bay Area on Monday, 8/7 from Nebraska.

Congratulations!!....You are lucky... All the Acura dealers near me wanted between $5-7k over MSRP. So I ended up buying a TLX Type S for 57K. Same price as I would have spent for an Integra Type S, but it's bigger, standard AWD, 35 more HP and 44 more lb-ft torque with a super smooth V6. The TLX Type S is a great everyday driver and a blast to drive hard.

@@RAR-wg5jw Congrats to you too. I also considered the TLX Type S, because of the same reasons. But, I wanted a stick and the power to weight ratio is appealing. Going to Integra Forums really helped how to navigate the purchase.

Sounds like an entertaining car. I have drifted away from Honda/Acura after being a real fan early on. They really mis-read the room when it comes to feature inclusion and accessories for the price. You did a great job of elaborating on the senseless omissions that fit with the price and type of vehicle.

I was a huge fan of the Acura Legend and the Integra. But for the Integra, it was only the first two generations. I never liked, despite having a limited drive in a friend’s 3rd gen white (typical!) Type R… or the fourth generation either. This latest (5th gen), I finally like what they’ve done with it… which odd, because I hate the latest Honda Type R. Weird. Thanks for the inspiring video. Worthy of note: I was looking at renting a motorcar in Portugal next year for a week or two (to Italy) for scouting out some properties, and I noticed that nearly every car for hire (rental) was an honest to goodness manual transmission! I was so surprised and … absolutely thrilled. Cheers.

It looks great and is very appealing, but as expensive as this car is for what it is, they sure cut some corners. The lack of a spare tire, no rear center armrest, and no cooled front seats are not excusable for a luxury branded version of what is essentially an economy car with go-fast parts. I agree about the trumpet exhaust tips. I think it would look more becoming of this luxury branded version if it had a single large horizontal exhaust split into 3 ports.

Thank you for reviewing the Integra type S. I agree with Zack that the base Integra should have more horsepower. I think the base model should have the Honda K20 C4 engine in it that has around 270 hp, which is also found in 10 generation Honda Accords, the current Acura TLX, and the current Acura RDX. This would have made a lot of sense, as well as pairing that with the 10-speed automatic and not that dreaded CVT. The trumpets in the back look ridiculous but since they are functional I'll give it a pass. I also agree with Andrea that it should have had five seats. Simply because the base model has five seats as well. Andrea was spot-on about the missing seat, but will the Type S owner will care more about missing luxury features. It's an Acura product, and it should have upgraded features like ventilated seats, a moonroof at least if not a panoramic roof, and some of the other niceties found in other Acura products. this car does improve the Acura brand and does bring something back from the past. I hope that Acura continues to build on this platform and produce a more feature laiden Integra in the future. And Acura if you are list ING, put the K20C4 in the base integra with the 10 speed, or even the 8 speed dct. Thanks again for the review motormouth, I definitely enjoyed it!

That time didn’t really exist because this car is the fastest Civic/Integra that has ever existed. Matter of fact, this is the fastest FWD car ever. Car prices are very inflated, but that is true of almost all cars due to many factors. If speed is not critically important, then the Civic Si/Integra A-Spec are also great cars for a lot less money, at least if you can find one without dealer markups.

I've own Honda Accords since 1995! Stepped up to the Honda Accord V-Tech V6 in 2006. Then I needed to move from Honda to Acura to keep the V6 in a Sedan. I'm thrilled with my 2018 TLX A-Spec V6 Red Edition FWD. This car takes no prisoners, except in 2023 it's showing tech update issues. The onboard GPS (no matter the update) is just bad. I've had to use a Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Traffic or my phone to be accurate on my Acura. The only additional item the vehicle could use is a heated steering wheel currently priced at $500 plus installation. Maybe for Canadian winters, but not for NY/NJ/CT winters. A taller driver, I'm 5'8", to see the front end. I sometimes "hit" the passenger's side mirror pulling into my very tight two-car garage. But, this car just loves the open road. Yes Acura suggests the higher octane gas, but this engine gets better MPG (+30 mpg) the faster it goes (according to onboard MPG calc). Otherwise, this car is great everyday I drive it. I did make one major change before I took us on our first driving trip. I tossed the tire repair kit in favor of a spare tire & jack that fits in the well under the floorboard in the trunk. I thought a spare tire would be safer long term than the kit. Yes even with the added weight in the rear. I did choose FWD over AWD. It just "felt" quicker to me.

Ran away from the RS3 because of the markups and wait times. I had a deposit on one and the dealership had no allocations for the year I was on the list and wasn’t looking at getting something that might support 2025 delivery. It is “the car” but if you can get one, at a reasonable price, and maybe in a reasonable timeframe.

Sure seems like Acura wants to sell this as a performance 'GT' car. I can't understand why they omitted so many interior niceties (as the video mentions). I also have trouble getting my head around $60k for a turbo 4-popper.

That is the car of the year! Plus it has the great reliability of Honda...vs the questionable reliability of the German brands.

Living in southeast Florida where the roads are constantly flooding, hell no I ain't ever buying a car with four inches of ground clearance, or even less than seven, again!

Trumpets? Those are cannons. I think that exhaust is sexy as hell. And btw, I would never choose the Golf over the Integra. I can't get behind the argument of horsepower for any car that looks like a space shuttle was decapitated. That said, I do agree in my own disappointment with the lack of ventilated and memory seats and sunroof, and I cannot fathom for the life of me why they would remove the middle back seat without giving an arm rest. But, at the end of the day, it really is an absolutely amazing car and even at that price point, that manual transmission is EVERYTHING.

IMO the MK8 GTI Performance is one of the best daily drivers, 240hp on “regular” fuel, you get all the niceties from the Golf R, HUD, ventilated front seats, heated tears and 3 zone climate, DCC, and I got mine for MSRP. If I want 300hp I’d get stage 1. With the DSG this car is plenty quick, and I have nice sunroof!

Yeah and the nightmare of burning oil from the 2.0t engine with the expensive upkeep and terrible long term value by comparison to Honda.😂😂😂

@@robertblack6630 you want to talk nightmares, having your Honda serviced constantly for brakes and what not is a nightmare, my third GTI and trading my last one for a civic, I couldn’t wait to get back into a VW again.

I love the idea of the integra but pricing is crazy nonsense. I’ll just find a g70 manual and be happy.

I guess in Acura's mind what makes it a luxury car is because they say so.

Acura's are nice, but Acura is not on the level of BMW, Audi, Mercedes or even Lexus on luxury. A lot of people buy it for reliability and maintenance

Somehow Honda brought back the Accord Crosstour body and now everyone luvs it. It's nice that they're saving the manuals, but why can't we also save the two-door 2+2 coupes? At least as a shorter wheelbase, lighter, less expensive, more compact, sportier option?

You could consider the Hyundai Elentra N which comes with a 6spd manual or DCT. About 9/10th of the same performance 276 hp & 289 torque for 33k base US. It also has a moonroof...lol

Just share my opinion as an automotive engineer... First, you two are a cute couple.. Zack, a lot of cars guys have a penchant for wrist watches and I notice you like them as well as a man of taste although that chrono wouldn't be my chrono of choice personally. Zack, the trumpets in back are fine. Distinctive without being obtrusive and functional. If you really want to get down, you can modify the valving...the big valve in back for more sound as some Type R owners do....essentially the same car with a bit more gingerbread. As to the car.... With cars is comes down to cost/benefit or most of us would be in a Bentley or Ferrari. This car at its price point isn't worth it if you factor in dealer mark up. A 3.0 liter twin turbo at this price point and now we are talking. Most knowledgeable car enthusiasts would rather have an Audi RS3 or BMW at this price point. Is it a good car? Yes. Is it worth the price? No. Me personally, speaking of 'mature drivers' that have been privileged to own and drive just about everything, I would rather have a 'lower performance' V6 Lexus ES350 with about the same horsepower but with much better ride, NVH, materials, and of course a brand of greater prestige, at the 'same price'. I have owned a lot of manual shift cars. Their +'s are as many as their -'s.
