Funny that you mentioned the Hyundai Santa Fe engine problems. My 2013 2L turbo just blew at 111,000 kms and all warranties were expired... but because Hyundai had a class action law suit brought against them they have to warranty the engine for life , so just today I was informed that Hyundai is doing a complete long block rebuild on my engine. Extra Oil price at Lexus is BS. It's the same oil as Toyota which is about $110 canadian. As a Toyota owner their dealer maintenance is so much price gouging.
@foreverrving32814 ай бұрын
I’ve also experienced the price gouging here in Vancouver, prices seem to have jumped up $100 for dealership oil changes in the last year. Just looked over some of my past receipts and I see $6.00 in washer fluid added as well as $21.00 in injector cleaner. It’s the same on every bill! I’m betting this is an income stream for the “stealership” with very low cost to them, especially if they don’t do it!

The Traverse question about ownership of 15 years is difficult to answer. JD Power or Consumer reports would be of no use in determining longevity because they don't track long enough. You can get the best longevity by ensuring you follow all the recommendations on service and maintaining a vehicle. I ran the last GM product I owned, 11 years by treating it right. My concern is that none of these new vehicles with small turbos has escaped troubles. Even those from Toyota. I specifically bought a 2023 Tacoma to avoid the turbo 4.

I drive a bronco sport which I wouldn’t trade for anything but that Buick is nice and it did make me miss sedans. He’s 21 and is taking a lot of ribbing for buying an ‘old man car’ but it came with reasonable mileage and still has warranty. Lots of power too. Personally I’m buying his 1970 Volvo 144S project car and hoping to be driving that before summer is over. Great video once again.

But you are right, it teaches amazing discipline. I miss those days. One last thing. I live in Maryland and Dorothy Hamill used to skate at a rink I went to on occasion. As Zack said, 12V runs accessories & is necessary to start ICE in PHEVs. The 12V batteries in Ford Escape PHEV & Korean PHEVs are rather small (weight saving measure) & thus have very little reserve power. They are notorious for Dying if you park and listen to your radio for much longer th1n 10 mins or leave a door open for 10-20 mins and seem to have a short life with many needing to be replaced in 1-3 years.

The only time I bring in my vehicle to the dealership is tire/wheel road balance and 4 wheel alignment (because I've had enough of improper weights installed and fall off from tire shops) so that they also do the necessary checks and find if anything is wrong - If there is, I bring my vehicle to a 3rd party mechanic (that specializes in the vehicle brand I have) and tell them what the dealership told me so they can fix it at a much lower hourly labor rate. Oil & filter changes, differential fluids coils & spark plugs, tire/wheel rotations I do on my own which I advocate to everybody - you don't have to be a mechanic to do them. Just some of your money on tools (good investment), oil,filter, etc online or your specialized mechanic shop that sells them if you cannot find them online for a cheaper price.

The dealership told me that they don’t rotate the tires at all. I’ve never heard of such a thing. The only reason why I went to that Audi dealership is because it’s right near my house, but I called the out-of-state Audi dealer that I got it from and it would’ve been at least $100 cheaper and they would have done a tire rotation included. I will not go back to that dealership again! Thanks for another great video!

This is the second video in two days referring to I.C.E. vehicles, which I never heard that term before. Its an abbreviation for Internal Combustion Engine. As for Honda vs Chevy, I've owned my Honda Civic for 12 years and besides regular maintenance (tires, oil, brakes and fluids) I've had no problem with my car. Zip! The same can't be said of ANY GM product I've owned. I remember writing a very long letter to GM in the early 1980s to get their act together and stop making ugly, gas guzzling, oil leaking, rusting out, pieces of garbage that never went past 100,000 miles and they haven't changed their behavior until recently. My niece owns a 2 yr old Chevy Equinox and has several problems with the lack of stability, not starting, the radio not working, sliding all over the road with its stock wheels, and cheap materials. I'm 5'6" tall and hit my head getting into the front seat of her car.

To further the point on the Tacoma...was amazed to see that my local (Bay Area) dealer had no markups on their Tacomas in stock. (Admittedly I didn't look at all configurations.) They mark up everything! So maybe Toyota overreached on pricing. They're probably gonna have to look at some creative lease deals to get things rolling...I'm sure the residuals will still be very good.

Good Advice on Leasing New model, that is what I did with the then New Kia Seltos, and after 3 years of no problems, I bought it, because I like it and it has the DCT, which the 2024 Seltos does not. I didn't Buy, because it was KIA and New, so good advice. On the other hand, I never went a Day with my Corvettes without Extended Warranties and I never had one of those Warranties Not Pay for itself during its period. Example $2,500 for 3 years, first year? Two new Headlights, at $1,200 each plus Labor? Yes, more than the 3 year warranty cost and in the first year. But, the Brand of Warranty is important as Some Dealers will not take some aftermarket Warranties, so Check with You Dealer and see which ones they accept before you buy one.

Also another comment on the dealership maintenance. After a recent oil change before I leave I open the hood and check if the oil is clear and all my fluids are top off. I saw my coolant was not top off at all. It was below the MIN line. So I had them to fill it up to the MAX line. So do I freaking trust dealership work? Sometimes. I never know what they do behind the wall. Recently also I was recommend to change my front brakes and rotor and I should feel like I have a brand new brakes because it should feel strong but it felt the same as it was never change.
