This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Acura Integra compact perforce sedan. When I think of Acura, I think of the Integra Iconic nameplate, it always brings back so many fond memories. Well, it’s back and it’s a blast to drive. The Integra has a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a standard CVT on all trims or a 6-speed manual, available on the top trim only, why Acura? It has 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, FWD only and Acura recommends premium fuel for the Integra. We haven’t driven the CVT only this 6-speed manual and it’s a real joy, the shifts are smooth, it’s engaging, and the steering is responsive. The manual comes with an automatic rev-matching function to make quick downshifts smoother plus a limited slip differential which helps provide improved steering control and response during acceleration and cornering. Honda Canada says they expect the manual/CVT mix rate to be over 50% for the manual. The US took pre-orders for the Integra and 65% of the sales are manual. The Acura vIntegra shares its underpinnings with the new Honda Civic and comes with the same engine that’s in the Civic Si which is offered only with a 6-speed manual, it’s priced at $33,750 CAD/$27,500 USD, a lot less than the Integra especially since you can only get the manual on the top trim at $42,550 CAD/$35,800 USD. The Integra with the CVT starts at $34,350 CAD/$30,800 USD and the first A-Spec model is $37,050 CAD/$32,800 USD. The Acura Integra comes with some great standard features including a 10.2” digital driver display, a 7” touchscreen, available 9”, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, available wireless, leatherette upholstery, available ultra-suede/leatherette combo, an 8-way power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a moonroof and a tire repair kit. Other standard features on the top trim include, driver seat memory, a power passenger seat, wireless charger, front and rear parking sensors, Alexa built in and the 16-speaker ELS Studio audio system.
At Canada Drives you can buy your car 100% online and have it delivered straight to your doorstep. Once delivered, you have a full 7 days to love it or return it.

I agree with Andrea. I’d rather have the Acura Integra with the manual gearbox instead of the Honda Civic Si. The Acura is more practical, with its bigger capacity trunk, it’s quieter, and has amenities that the Si doesn’t have, at least here in the U.S. Plus I personally think that the Acura is better looking as well.

Camp Integra with Andrea. You might be a little subjective because you get the luxury of the Canadian SI. For us in the US it is well worth the money for everything you get coming from the US SI to the Aspec Tech Pack Integra. Maybe for a younger person who wants to mod the car and doesn't car about Luxury features and just power train the SI may be better. But in the US our SI doesn't have a lot of the features that yours does. So for an older person with a taste for luxury features I think the integra is worth the price difference.

I live in Canada and went with the Integra. I am surprised these guys did not mention that used SI's here are going for as much as the top trim Integra due to dealer markups! And if you order an SI you will probably be waiting 9 months+ I dont see why anyone would choose the SI in that case unless they want nothing else but a Civic SI.

I'm Camp Integra over Camp Civic Si mainly because it's a more mature and elegant exterior design... To me, it just look more premium compared to the Si. The extra cargo space is a huge win also in my opinion...24.3 cubic ft compared to 14.4. The premium audio in the tech package is supposedly far superior as well.

Yeah it does look like an Acura. Put an RSX and this car side by side and there are a lot of similarities. Only difference it is a 4 door. Otherwise very Acura. IMO it needs more premium stuff to it without increasing the price just because. It is a nice car but its competitors are right up there with them. The only thing it gots going for it is a reliability track record and the name. It should have slightly more power, rear vents, digital mirror, a larger screen, rear shades, ventilated seats if it does not have already, heated rear seats.

Finally! Acura and Honda is getting its mojo back. I am more than ecstatic when I heard the integra is back. My love of Integra began with my folks owning an 89 RS (?) model of the integra. And now that I’m older, it makes allllll the better. Maybe my next car will be an integra when I trade my 2015 civic in???

I am sick of Zack hating on Hondas. Thank goodness for Andreas fashion sense (and great legs) or I'd unsubscribe. I placed a reservation on day one and picked up my Integra on 6/4. Here's why it's worth more than a Si. IIRC Zack complained about the Si being overpriced. Hatchback > Sedan More comfortable interior. Better ride/driving dynamics Kicking sound system Better looking design Luxury features like HUD. On top of these features which justify an increase for me, consider the fact of required ADM on the Si. I've never owned a Civic or Integra in the past, but 3 1/2 years ago we bought an RDX for the family car and never regretted it. Zack, you need to drop the hate. Hondas have demonstrated long term value. This car is a big improvement over the ILX, and a good value when you consider resale value or long term ownership cost. Seriously, I get it, you're a Porsche guy, and this pales in comparison. But drop the boy-racer perspective. You don't have to pander to those folks. Integra is a legit enthusiast car for adults. And don't offend your fans who make a more "mature" choice.

The looks of the new Integra have definitely grown on me. It’s sharp and sporty. I think the issue is people are comparing it to a civic si, gti, and wrx instead of a 2 series, CLA, and A4 that are actually in its segment. When compared correctly with the other cars in it’s segment the Integra offers more than its competitors with a better ride at a cheaper price.
@steve8803
@steve8803 Жыл бұрын
@AFCompany The integra is front wheel drive only, I wouldn't put it in the same class as those other luxury brands. We don't consider the gti "luxury", but it offers features the integra doesn't(pano roof, dsg and a 2.0T with significantly more power). Supposedly, the integra is "luxury", *so what does it offer that the gti doesn't to be put into a class above?* A fully spec'd gti in Canada is a little cheaper than a fully spec'd integra. Interestingly, in the USA the fully spec'd gti costs a little more than a fully spec'd integra.
@AFCompany
@AFCompany Жыл бұрын
@@steve8803 those other luxury brands have those models in front wheel drive as well. Compare the GTI to the 2 series CLA, and A4 as well and it still has features that those models do not offer. Doesn’t stop them from being luxury cars. Most economy cars offer more features than base level luxury cars don’t act as if it is an Acura issue. Which is why I said compare it to other entry level luxury cars not economy cars. You pay luxury prices for higher quality materials and ride quality not necessarily features.
@steve8803
@steve8803 Жыл бұрын
@@AFCompany the Integra is not a luxury vehicle. Compare a loaded A4 to loaded Integra and it's plain to see. The Integra is much cheaper because it uses much cheaper materials thereby making it cheaper to manufacture.
@steve8803
@steve8803 Жыл бұрын
@AFCompany a loaded up 2 series, cla and A4 are true competitors to each other, and cost 10s of thousands more than an Integra. A loaded up Integra is in the same ballpark price range as a loaded GTI. And the GTI offers you more luxury.
@AFCompany
@AFCompany Жыл бұрын
@@steve8803 the Integra is classified as a luxury vehicle period. If you look at all those base models the Integra offers more for cheaper until you start loading them up and then they become 10k more expensive. They definitely don’t offer better materials though. I would say tech and ride quality but a 2 series is a basic and cheap as it gets. Also like I said compare at GTI to an 2 series, CLA, and A4 and tell me all the features the GTI has over them even though they are also technically luxury vehicles. Why are you ignoring that? Economy cars ALWAYS have more than entry level luxury cars.

Andrea, love your videos and all the great details, but I think I have to go along with Zack on this one. The civic si here in the states is getting pricing mark ups, but still less costly than the integra with the same basic powertrain. The civic presents a better value overall, and will probably sell more than this integra while holding up its resale value. Maybe when the Type S arrives later, there will be a better place in the market for that model sandwiched between Civic SI and the Type R civic. Will have to wait and see. Thank you both for creating such great videos.

I’m pretty sure I was the first person in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area to take delivery of the Integra 6MT (in pearl white, just like your test car). From Luther Acura of Bloomington. My son has had the 22 Civic Si for almost eight months. Both cars have the 1.5T I-4 but I’m convinced the factory tuning is different. The Integra is a noticeably quicker car. I especially love the adaptive suspension. The Civic Si’s suspension is rock hard, all the time. It disqualified it as a dog park runner. And it should disqualify it as a car in which young children will ride. I prefer the Integra’s hatch over the Si’s trunk. I love the Integra’s interior (leather) over the Si’s childish and small interior. Here’s the deal: if you’re 20-30 years old, get the Civic Si. If you’re over 30, get the Integra.

@Fire Heart the Integra looks better than the new Si? I stopped by my local Acura and they told me they just got one off the truck and it was in back lot…. I literally walked by it twice because I thought it was a last generation ILX, the car is as conservative and boring looking as every Acura sedan of the last decade. It might have more sound deadening but it’s a hatchback versus a sedan (Si) and hatchbacks are like amplifiers for noise as well as squeaks and rattles over time.

The way I see it, the only way to get everything I want is a top trim level Integra...and I dont want an Integra badly enough to spend near $40k. Once the $35k threshold is breached I start looking at what else I could get for the same price or lower..and not sure the Integra (as good as it is) wins that comparo. I currently have a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch that I secured right before prices started going nuts, and I really cant see anything in this new Integra that would make it worth $8-10k more than I paid....not even factoring in the manual trans.

Let say you talk about interior of car A, Andrea talks about Car b. Then you guys switch. You start talking about car b exterior. That's little bit confusing ,consistency would be better. I'm with you guys...Honda is making some good stuff, but also making absoutely mind boggling decisions lately. The big one (for US buyers) is decontenting the Si...you cant even special order heated seats and all the other goodies that are on the Canadian version. And then yes..putting a cvt on the Integra with a good dual clutch and 10 speed auto already in the parts bin? I mean the ILX wasnt even half the car this new Integra is (it was based on arguably the worst Civic generation and had woefully dated tech) yet it was fitted the slick shifting dual clutch transmission. That would be a very viable performance alternative for people who want an Integra but dont want to shift their own. I gotta agree with Matt...Si wins versus the Integra, especially in Canada where it already comes with most of the goodies. The way Honda has done things in the US may actually drive potential buyers to other makes instead of the intended effect of making the Si not directly competitive with the Integra. What they've done is forced some buyers to spend more than they want to get everything they're looking for..which may be available for a much lower price from a competitor.

well said i think vw and toyota subaru and hyundia will get the sales because they offer cars with less features then the top integra, but way more than the SI, for about 2-3K more, not 8000$ more. and they have a manula or auto.

Food for thought: Acura may have sprinkled some magic on the Integra engine over the Civic Si. Hondata has dynoed both of them. Si came in @ 200 HP, the Integra @ 236 HP. Comparing interiors you also forgot to mention the Integra's sound system - it's one of the best out there. Yes, I own one... until I can get my hands on an elusive Golf R.

I think a car that compares very closely to this integra is the Mazda 3 gt turbo hatchback. You cannot get it in a manual but it’s very entry luxury, has awd and brings hatch has the same practicality. Also here in Canada it’s cheaper as well.

I think Andrea is right. The Acura badge is definitely worth something extra as it makes this little rocket somewhat more rare and unique. I would also imagine that the Acura is offered in non-Civic colours. I also think that Zack is right. For that kind of money the Volkswagen GLI appears to be a slightly better deal… in every way. That is where I would spend my money. Thanks for the video.

Excellent video !!! I think Acura has made a big mistake with this new Integra. It's too close to the Civic SI. They already have in house material (ex : 2,0 l engine, 10 speed or DC transmision, SH-AWD, etc...) to raise the bar at a level between the SI and Type R in terms of performance. Can you imagine a CVT in a sport car ? Where are you Acura ?

Integra has always been closely related to the civic and civic Si. In fact, the last official integra sold in north america was less powerful than the Si of that time (140 hp in the integra and 160 in the Si). The GSR integra had 180 hp but that wasn’t the base model like this one is. The RSX (basically Integra) was less powerful than the mid-00s Si, and the RSX Type S was the equal performer to that same Si. Knowing all this, there is NO reason this current integra should be more powerful and much better than an Si. That should be reserved for the Integra Type S model.

One of my first cars was a brand new black Integra with the gold trim package: all the logos and nameplates were in gold. It looked incredible and I absolutely loved that car. I get what Zack is saying, that it's just marketing, but I also agree with Andrea, when I hear Integra, my heart kind of skips a beat. It's a personal thing for me but I have a real fondness for the brand name.

Looks like Andrea has found her new car. Hondata measured 234 hp on a hub dyno which is probably like 220 hp at the wheel on a Dynojet, either number is substantially more than Honda’s conservative 200 hp rating. $30k to $32k U.S. doesn’t seem like a lot of money for what you get so I say go for it Andrea. Maybe you’ll let Zack borrow it once in awhile when his German car is in the shop. 😀

Can you drive a manual car if you only passed in an Automatic licence test. In Melbourne your licence is marked Auto only. Mum learned in 3 speed Manual in 1972 Holden Torana. 1979 for me in a 4 speed Holden Gemini. Dad 1960s UK in an original Mini with a lady instructor. He missed a shift or two and got her knee. Oh boy. Manuals are rare down under. Cheers for a great review.

Previously owned a civic si (1989) and integra GSR (1999)…..the nameplate means very little to me. I miss the hatchback on the integra, but that’s it. I bought the 2022 Si. The issue only becomes (for me) is if the integras are sold closer to MSRP, as I had to pay a markup on my civic. Otherwise, it’s an 8 or 9 grand premium and I don’t need (and in some cases, I don’t care for) the differences between this and the Si. Btw - I’m a US buyer. Losing driving lights, heated seats and adaptive dampers over the 10th gen is an easy trade for improved engine tuning. Better brakes, steering, chassis and shifter. If I were in Canada, buying the Si over the integra moves into no-brainer territory
