Same problem with lowering the spare in the previous Mitsubishi Challenger. I cut a centre hole in an appropriate diameter plastic garden pot base which sits on top of the spare stopping the chain from falling through - problem solved.

unfortunately not or fitting would be a pain, however someone posted a photo of a small plastic bucket lid to stop it happening

Just had this happen. The chain had worked its way so far through one of the bolt holes that it was completely impossible to get it to move back through. I had to take an angle grinder to the chain to get the spare. It is a stupid design.

just make sure you guide the chain through the centre hole and have it hanging down evenly not bunched up where it can jam up

This is not a problem if you turn the wheel upside down the chain has excess lead out of the wheel. Just spray some inox on the chain

Great tip dude thanks. I haven't looked at it but is there any way you could put a bit something inside the rim to prevent it happening? Something like piece of plastic with a bit of rigidity or whatever. Sorry if that's a dumb question but I've never had the spare out of mine.

@@T.A.G Yeah just went and checked mine and the chain is hanging through one of the wheel nut holes. Doesn't really want to go back up without a bit of a poke either. Bit of design genius right there methinks. Maybe something you should look at making perhaps? Something that can attach to the chain and is just wide enough to not allow the chain to drop down. Maybe a bit of Perspex or a bit of alloy plate? I'm thinking that a bit of steel chain continually rubbing around in a wheel nut hole isn't a great thing either.

use a short occy strap to tie the chain to the rim whilst it in a partly lowered postion

Bro. Quick question. Is it normal the inside of the exhaust to be black in your Pajero? I have a napkin and I run it through the inside of the pipe and it comes black like carbon. 😢

The average garage thanks for the vids. Question: i drove from Sydney to melb in my 2017 pajero sports and i was getting 10.5L per 100km fuel usage. Is tbat normal? Shouldn't it be 8L?

Really depends on mods, weights, terrain and driving style etc

I can acheive 8.5 litre / 100km in my PJ Sport on a long journey at around 100km/hr on NZ twisty roads

and why is your wheel not secured as intended by the manufacturer? Perhaps this is the whole problem. The spare wheel should be secured with the front part towards the bottom of the car

The what? It's on the factory hanger exactly how it was designed by Mitsubishi

@T.A.G The spare wheel is normally secured from the factory with the front side of the wheel disk facing the body. In your case, the front side of the disk is facing the ground
