Quite the opposite for me. The snoring kept distracting me from what she was saying; I had to keep backing up. My hubby snores a lot, and keeps me up. He's actually volunteered to sleep in another room, but I've only taken him up on that twice so far in the last 14 years. But I could never live with a snoring dog; hubby is enough for me! lol

Just wanted to say how much I have appreciated your content. I finally have the upper hand in the curl wars. I always used to use sulfates and dimethicone conditioners which are supposed to be no no’s but I had the most beautiful, defined, frizz free curls and very few issues. Fast forward, sulfate and cone free and I couldn’t figure out why my curls didn’t behave as they used to. Your video on protein and moisture, and how to tell which is needed, opened my eyes and I haven’t had a bad curl day since(except when it’s freezing out and I have to wear a wool hat). This video explains why even with no cones I need to clarify and why those heavy curl creams never worked for me. In a sea of curly girl channels, thank you for taking the time to explain how each curl can be different and respecting that one way of hair treatment does not fit all or even the same person forever. Sorry for the novel but I’m so happy!
@cherylboyd18116 жыл бұрын
So is that why my hair looks a fright fucked up( pardon my cuss but really- i cuss -😄) i mean its been since last DECEMBER - whole year without sulfate, silicone, dimethicone, not a stinking stich of heat at all..Butttt- my hair basicly looks OK on wash day and then after that - dry and greesy looking at same time, knots like Dreds😳 and the curl looks like sticks - HARD PRODUCT FILLED STICKS... i watched a video and that chick said the curly girl method tore her hair up!! So - im confused with all the hype - honestly😐

All the wrong informations about hair porosity....The bowl of water test is a total bullshit...it doesn't work that way. Porosity isn't determined by whether a bunch of hair floats or sinks. One person can have multiple types of porosity...and there are different reasons for different porosity. Stephanie from The Curl Ninja is the only reliable source on youtube now as she genuinely tries to explain Porosity, Moisture-Protein balance and what damaged hair means. Every other so-called natural/curly hair KZbinr is spreading false info left right and centre and affecting millions of people who tend to believe whatever is shown by them. This should stop and these "influencers" should know what they are talking before opening a KZbin Channel
@NeonBlueSnow6 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify too, cuz I know some transitioning curlies might get confused-- HEAT ON LOW POROSITY HAIR DOES NOT MEAN GO CRAZY WITH A FLAT IRON!! That can still cause major heat damage and set you back on your curly hair journey. By heat, she means steam :) Hot caps, steam from the shower, anything to get hot water into your hair while you're deep conditioning.

Your grey hair does the same thing as mine, especially the one in front - it curls up really well with the rest of the non-grey hair and makes it look almost shiny. This was my favourite outcome of starting the curly girl method, as before, when I was straightening them, the greys would always curl up anyway, and stick out of my head, whereas now, they blend really nicely and give the rest of my hair a spark. Love that you're embracing your grey hair!

I have just started my curly girl journey and I'm so happy to see how many girls are embracing their naturally curly hair and also HOW MANY curly products I'm seeing in stores! I'm 31 and growing up I haaaaated my hair. There was no youtube or google or social media. No hairstylist could work with my hair and quite frankly seemed irritated to work with my highly dense, curly hair; to be honest I didn't enjoy seeing them either. I have 2c/3a type curly hair, HIGH density, and Low/High porosity (I did ombre a year and a half ago). I have learned so much these past few months, I can't wait to invest in some products. Thank you for making these videos and also, I LOVE all your animals :D I am a subscriber!

High porosity "Just as your hair absorbs moisture easily, it lets it go just as easily." This finally makes sense now! Using hair oil to seal strands when hair is damp is the best thing I've learned to keep that moisture in and stop my hair from going all poofy.

Plastic bristles get little cuts in them from the hair going over them and then the micro cuts scrape the hair. So use a metal bristle brush. Just make sure you clean it frequently let it dry upside-down so it doesn't rust.

Just got my Olaplex 3 in the mail today and I can't wait to see if it helps restore some of my curl pattern that I had attributed to my hair changing with age (I'm 33). When I was younger I had like 3b curls all over but now I have all these parts that are almost straight 😩 I am praying that the Olaplex brings back some of those curls, if not then I know for sure that my curls are just going away. I just started the cgm and have taken 2 cold showers now and I gotta say I am so not about that life. 😂 I'm also a little frustrated because as I'm now researching about porosity I'm pretty sure I'm low P and I'm pretty sure I have protein overload or sensitive to protein so I checked and every product I just bought has protein in it. 😫 I also get quite a bit of protein in my diet and I'm curious if that could also contribute to protein overload.

I'd love to hear your take on humectants and low porosity hair! I know environment plays a giant role in what curlies decide to use as far as humectants or no, but I have recently found myself in a pickle with accidentally over conditioning my hair by wet styling and using protein free anti-humectants, essentially trapping water in my low porosity hair and then sealing it in and weighing it down substantially. Lots of damage. Long story short, how would a low porosity curly (or maybe just anyone?) approach humectants?

my hair takes literally 5 or 6 hours to dry on its own so sometimes i think it’s low porosity. but then again my hair is heat and chemically damaged, also frizzy... so i’m like maybe it’s high porosity. but then again i did the strand test in water and my hair was floating, not sinking. so i’m confused!!!! i’m constantly putting oil on my ends morning and night bc i feel like my bleached ends don’t really soak it in
@jenniferguevara28093 жыл бұрын
It is hard to say. However, you hair can take that long to dry due to the products you apply to it. Heavy products maybe? My hair is low porosity and it takes a long time to dry as well. Also, remember that the test for porosity (strand of hair in water is no the most accurate). I also think that porosity can be due to genetics. Hope that helps🤍💠
