Before, I said one of the deleted cold opens with the Kreylboynes was worth keeping in an episode. I was thinking that the family dinner episode displaying the dynamics of the family well in the third episode, "Home Alone 4", was worth starting the pilot with, with some additional tinkering though, as Malcolm will have to introduce his family. Due to the pilot's cold open being so brief (seconds), and it depicting Malcolm's trippy, existential-like view of his childhood, I think it can instead begin the pilot episode after its opening credits, before the episode smoothly transitions to the breakfast table scene, perhaps with Lois calling the kids to have breakfast. The Kreylboynes cold open was set for "Red Dress", the second episode, so I think it's suitable that it's maneuvered around to the third, as it's just one episode after.
