I was the perfect demographic for KISS, I was in high school when they first came out and thought they were great, saw them on tour in '75, '76, and '77. They lost me after "Disco KISS" Dynasty came out but they were still a huge part of my high school experience. So much so I went to the Destroyer reboot Reunion tour show... awesome. I went to see the "FAREWELL" tour twice in '00 because I'm friends with Ted Nugent and he and Skid Row were touring with them and I was able to go backstage for both shows. The second show was @ Roberts Stadium in Evansville, IN. There is a big common area backstage with a home team locker room, (KISS's dressing room), on one side and visitors, (Ted and Skid Row dressing room), on the other. My wife and I were hanging out in the common area waiting for Ted and here comes Ace walking from KISS's dressing room to Skid Row's dressing room. After a while he comes out and staggers back to his side. Little while later, here he comes again, back to Skid Row's dressing room. He does this 3-4 times and the last time he can hardly walk and staggers right into my wife and I. I pushed his scrawny wasted ass off of us and he almost fell down, didn't even turn around and kept staggering on. This was ALL BEFORE THE SHOW!!! Screw his punk ass, he could care less about the fans and he wants to talk about how bright they are? Like I heard Gene and Paul say in regard to Ace and Peter... some people don't have the DNA to run a marathon. They couldn't have started the band without them and couldn't have finished with them. Most bands that have been around for decades don't have all the original members. I went to see Bad Company a few years ago with Foghat. The only original member of Foghat was the drummer... REALLY? There are many more out there like that, might as well be a tribute band. I saw the End Of The Road tour 3 times. Nashville '19, Peoria '20 and Indy a couple of weeks ago, the first show after Paul's illness. He said he thought he was dying. You think Ace would have finished the final shows if it were him on an IV in a hotel room? Nobody puts on a show like KISS... NOBODY!

I'm a HUGE KISS fan! I love (almost) everything they released from 1974 - 1983. But the band that just did the "End of the Road" tour is not KISS. I'd say Van Hagar was closer to the real deal than Gene & Paul's "The KISS Experience" - which is what they should have called this travelling museum exhibit. I think maybe that's what Ace was referring to.

It’s the Kisstards/casual fans that at times aren’t the brightest. Maybe that was the point Ace was trying to make, but that’s Ace being Ace, the huge ego is undeniable. Turns out that the true class act throughout this whole melodrama has been Peter, I definitely believe his statement on the no call/invite to the last show; confirms Ace’s claim of that also. Peter thankfully didn’t partake in the mudslinging and negative comments that were coming out of the Gene/Paul and Ace camps, he took the high road, held his tongue and stayed above the fray. Turns out he was the smart one on that front. And I think personally that this dangling of the “Peter and Ace could join us onstage” carrot was never anything more than a plot to get asses in the seats cause I don’t think that Paul’s ego wouldn’t have been able to deal with being upstaged by Peter and Ace as that would have been the highlight of the show.

I agree 1000%. KISS ruined their reputation chasing the casual fan and alienating the lifelong hardcore fans that MADE them. I quit going years ago because it wasn’t fun anymore to go. It was too sad to watch back then. Imposter kiss makes it look like fans will accept ANYBODY as long as they wear Ace’s makeup. WRONG. Without their own mask they’ll never be respected as an original. Just an imitation. KISS 1973-2001 untouchable.

Gene Simmons said the same thing way way way back in '78. Simmons said something like: KISS fans are idiots and they'll buy anything we put out. Ironically, he said this in the first week of September 1978. The Solo Albums Were released a fortune later and contrary to Paul and Gene's BS . . . They flopped! They collectively sold about 1.2 million albums with Gene and Ace selling 85 per cent of all copies. DONT take your fans for granted. Problem is that rock is dead and these been 70, 80 and 90's bands keep touring and some making a fortune as there is nothing else around.

I laughed to myself when I heard that interview, especially when he mentioned KISS fans not being the brightest, as most KISS fans are Ace fans, although he might lose a few with that comment lol. I was a KISS fanatic from the start and still am today, plus I also supported Ace and Peter outside of KISS with any of their solo stuff they did. KISS were always much more than the makeup or characters to me, so while I don't love every song or album they put out, KISS were the rock I needed to get through some tough times throughout my life, although my love for music is vast to say the least. When Ace says KISS fans aren't the brightest, how bright was he when he sold the rights to his makeup to Gene and Paul lol, as that doesn't sound borderline genius to me lol. Love Ace and love KISS, but the drama I could have done without lol.

I saw Ace open for Alice Cooper in Oct 21, and was very disappointed. Lazy set, Rocket Ride was half speed, and it sounded like he was drunk AF. During his solo, he was just noodling around with riffs and yelled “never had a lesson!”, and half the crowd was like “we can tell!” Alice and Nita Strauss came out and obliterated Ace off the stage. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ace. I’d be interested to see Ace play 10,000 Volts live at the same speed as the recording.

I heard the interview and Ace came off as a bitter, jealous old SOB. Eddie "I know Jesus Christ well" Trunk had the patience of a saint during that fiasco of an interview. Ace came off as so damn pompous. Is it the new girlfriend Laura that's fueling his ego? Couldn't believe it because I really like Ace and he typically takes the high road. Deep down, I _really_ think he thought he'd eventually be asked to play a few songs for the final show. When he wasn't, it really hurt him. You know he would have played for FAR less than the $1 mil price he was asking. I also think the "Piss" comment by Paul wrecked him a bit. Sadly, I think he's now crawled back in the bottle again - because he sounded half smashed during the interview. As a side note, Ace seriously needs to find someone that can write for him because I think he can still play - unless there's some serious Pro Tools tricks being played. It's the lyrics and some other things that are very suspect. As an example, 10,000 Volts could have been cool, but the lyrics are typical Ace with the lazy "face/space" rhymes.

There are still some posters, notebooks and other items on Amazon that have OBVIOUS pix of Tommy in makeup and costume that are labeled as being Ace Frehley. I suspect the band does that to make bank t on the clueless younger fans. How do I know about they're Tommy? In early 1980, before Peter left, there was a contest in 16 Magazine to design new costumes. Peter and Ace never got to wear any of them, but the post-Buhbye lineup did.You can clearly see a hem on the cover of Monster.

He’s inextricably linked to kiss. Forever. And to a guy who basically screwed himself out of millions. Tens of millions, it’s a shadow he hates to be under, I’m certain. They became the biggest band in the world, between ‘75-77, and they got handled by labels, they had metric tons of shit blown up their asses and noses. And he screwed himself out of that band because he felt they couldn’t go on without him. Peter did the same thing. The reunion tour was great. The farewell tour was painful. Luckily for ace, the end of the road tour was simply ridiculous. That band has always been the Simmons show. Ace Frehley has a legacy of being the guy most guitar gods cite as getting them into music. He needs to really be honored and humbled at that. Most players can’t ever say that.

I saw KISS in 79, Vancouver. Until then I never realized how much Ace and Peter contributed to the band. Reason being because Gene and Paul were always sucking up the air in the room. After my KISS experience I had a whole new level of respect for this Band of Brothers. Brothers like me and my crew, who got drunk and high listening to their albums and singing along. Then in 79, they were coming to Vancouver, 350 miles south of my hometown. My hometown where every cool dude and cool chick all went to see this Band of Brothers who somehow got us like we got them. Then the solo albums. Then the unmasking. Then the breakups. The dream was over. KISS was over when Ace and Peter were gone. Everything after that was bullshit. The illusion of brotherhood gone, as was our connection to the band. But that concert in Vancouver, 79, is still the best damn show I ever seen!!!

Frehley's comment '...not the brightest people...' was poorly planned and therefore taken out of context. Most of the well-heeled KISS addicts will buy anything from the band and Ace Frehley as a solo artist. They will go to see 10 concerts in a row, fly to foreign countries, book expensive hotel rooms, buy crazy-priced box sets and brag about it on these podcasts. Some go as far as preaching they know EVERYTHING about the band because they have rooms dedicated to KISS in their basements. The better part of the PPV was the interview with Shannon Tweed, she shed some light on the fact it was a business decision to not include any former members.

Ace Frehley: The best trout playin' plumber on the planet! Just ask him...I also agree that the vast majority of Ace fans are/were loyal KISS fans from the start. After Double Platinum I just sort of moved on to other hard rock acts but I always kept up with Ace in one way or another. As far as KISS goes today, I'm glad their old decrepit asses have finally thrown in the towel. It's WAY past time. Buh-Bye!!!

In a recent interview Gene said that they do not own the band the fans do . The fans are the BOSS!! so let's get this straight when we want Ace and Peter at the last show we don't get them. When the fans pay hundreds if not thousands for kiss 2020 good by stuff and get nothing. Paul and Gene do and say nothing but take your money and run. I really don't feel like I'm the BOSS of anything sorry. I feel like an ass for coming back just to get hurt again and again by my favorite band.

I don’t always agree with Eddie Trunk when it comes to Kiss. But, he did make a good point the other day. They can’t change the playlist because it is all computerized and choreographed. It takes a lot of work to do all of that. They couldn’t even throw in Shandi or whatever without screwing the whole thing up. So, I think Trunk is correct this time. So yeah, it’s all over as we know it. I hope you keep the Kiss stuff coming Doc, at least every now & then.. Thanks..

Im afraid that by this time next year, there’ll be less and less KISS news to report on. Ace’s upcoming will be either as good he says or it may be a bust, just like his threats to bring out KISS skeletons from the closet. Peter will continue to be completely absent. Eric and Tommy would either form their own independent band or join others, and Paul and/or Gene will write new books picking up where the last ones left off - all full of omissions and self serving outright lies, of course. No further new albums from anyone after Feb 2024.
