Alton Towers Vlog September 2021

Join me as I return to the Alton Towers Resort on a quiet September weekday to get back on plenty of different rides! In this vlog I experience all 10 roller coasters at the park along with all of the other major rides on offer at the UK's biggest theme park. This includes Nemesis, The Smiler, Wicker Man and much more. I also head into all of the different areas of the park, bringing the latest updates from The World of David Walliams, CBeebies Land and much more. Along with sharing updates on the queue times, I check out more of the construction taking place ready for Scarefest and much more and in this bumper Alton Towers vlog!

I’ve just came back from a 2 day trip, stayed in the Alton towers hotel, it was amazing!! Did all big 7 twice. And numerous other rides. The queues weren’t that bad. It was the best ever trip I’ve had to Alton towers!

I remember when I went to Alton towers with family earlier this year. We stayed overnight for a couple of nights and it was just amazing. Would have to say the smiler is my favourite! Was definitely worth the long queue! Love the vids!

It was roaring around with the same intensity as ever when we were there almost two weeks ago, although not quite as smooth as it was in earlier years. That bottom 270 helix is still the best helix I know from coasters I’ve experienced so far and it still brings the same euphoria it always did. Cannot wait to see what they do to preserve it in the next few years!

We went yesterday and had the BEST visit I’ve ever had. I’ve been about to Alton Towers about ten or so times over the last 27 years and yesterday was by far the best experience. 21 goes on 12 different rides. 3 on the smiler on the bounce mid afternoon. Nemesis twice in the morning and twice at about 5pm. September weekday is THE time to go. Thanks TPWW!!

Fantastic vlog Shawn. I’ve always loved AT especially the gardens as they have always been stunning. Nemesis is without doubt one of my favourite coasters and I cannot believe it has been standing since 1994. I had my first ride on it in 1995 and I was hooked. Love the runaway mine train ride too one of my favourites. Nice one Shawn👍

Absolutely loved Gangsta Granny … had a lovely plush traditional but high quality dark ride feel, lovely sound and visuals and clear storytelling and very clever use of space in the show building with the vehicles rotating through different scenes. The rest of the area still feels a little light on investment but a big shout out to the staff and performers … top notch always in character.

When I first went on Nemesis not long after it opened. I had to wait 4 hours and 15mins to ride it. Years later I was able to walk right onto it and ride it 4 times while I was there.

Alton Towers yesterday for the first time since about 2014. My partners first time since she was little, both had such a good time. Nemesis still my favourite ride, but my first time riding Wicker Man and The Smiler. Both were amazing IMO.

Made my first ever trip to Alton Towers on Monday and Tuesday this week and it was a blast. Even if you forget about the absoloutely top tier coasters you've still got a park with such a wonderful atmosphere and some brilliant staff. It still amazes me how they have so many restrictions with what they can build and where yet they manage to absoloute blow every other park in the UK out of the water in near enough every aspect. I'm planning a second trip to Alton Towers in October so I can also enjoy the scare mazes and night rides.

We went today for the first time this year. Nemesis riding beautifully, Galactica much improved. But I'm shocked how rough Wicker Man has become in the last 12 months!!! We last rode it last scare fest and it seemed much better then! Also, Spinball Whizzer is only allowing 2 people per car (we saw 1x with 3 very small children in).... Is this a weight restriction diet to the age of the coaster and the fatigue caused by years of this coater track supports rocking in places? I'm an engineer and very interested! 😁🙏

Went last Friday, pretty slick operations and a quiet park. Got on everything. Thought Rita and Nemesis were running well, really flying and smoother than last year. Worth a day off work. I maybe over 50 but a kid at heart 😉

We were there 16th and 17th. Did all the major rides 3 times each day. Head was a bit battered, but got the most out of every single second. Fabulous 2 days. Can't wait until next September...gona do it all again. Live too far away to do it more often.

Hi Sean. Like you said Nemesis is one of the best rides in the Uk if not the best. Really sad that it is closed but hopefully will come back with its retract better then ever. I’m going to talk you through my first ever day at a major theme park and indeed it was Alton towers. We arrived at Alton towers at 9.15 so that we could get to the park early. I remember walking down to forbidden Valley using your advice and queueing up for a 0 minute wait for Galactica. We started queueing for that at around 9.50 but still a very short queue. At 10:15 Galactica was still closed so we decided to walk to Nemesis At Nemesis I was so nervous. I had never been on a big coaster before. Again I used your advice to queue up for a extra 5 minutes with my uncle so that we could get the front row. We went on Nemesis and from that day (1st May 2022) I am a absolute enthusiast to rollercoaster. I fell in love with that ride instantly. After Nemesis. We went on to do Galactica and that was decent. A nice smooth ride. Then we went over to Katanga Canyon and rid the river rapids. That ride was pretty boring as it wasn’t getting me and my uncle that wet. But we did have a nice chat about Nemesis. Then we did the runaway mine train and that was j by bring compared to Nemesis but it was a nice calm ride. Then we headed over to X-Sector. First we headed on Oblivion and waiting around 30 minutes. This is the ride which I’m most nervous for to this day. It’s still a good ride but I just get nervous for it every time. Then I did the Smiler. At this time I was 10 years old and on that day I was so nervous. I was deciding whether to go on it just before the entrance of the queue but my Uncle pushed me into the queue so I kind of had to ride it. When I was on it I really enjoyed it. We waited around 50 mins. Throat soundtrack gets stuck in my head and it’s really annoying 😂. Then we walked over to Dark Forest and made our first mistake. We decided to eat at a restaurant called Woodcutters Bar and grill. The food was amazing dont get me wrong but it wasted around 45 mins of our 8 hour day. Well after food we wanted a calm ride so instead of doing Rita and Th13teen straight away we went to Duel. I beat my uncle and I got 52,700 score and my uncle got 39,100. Then it was around 14.30 and we headed over to Spinball Whizzer with around 3 hours and 30 minutes left of our day. This was our longest queue all day. It was 1 hour and advertised 20 minutes. AT 14.40 it was 1 hour. I really don’t know how that happened (WAIT YOUR GIVING FAKE ADVICE). Anyway our ride was a good one. Then we were on our way back to Dark Forest and we went past Hex at around 15.45. Walk on queue and got off around 16.00. That ride is so underrated. After all the over rides we did we finally wanted to do Th13teen and Rita. We went on Th13teen first. I never knew a drop was there because it was my first time riding. That part scared me. Still was a great ride. Waited around 25 mins. Then we went on Rita. The launch was just incredible and the speed all the way round was great. It was really smooth on the day I went (1st May 2022) but on my recent 3 dates which I’ve went (16th June 2022, 16th October 2022 and 5th April 2023) it has been really rough since after the launch. The launch though has been amazing every time. We waited 40 minutes. Time was around 5.20. We had 40 minutes of our day left. Since we had basically one ride left of the day, we had a big discussion and said ‘do we want to Nemesis again or have a go on Wickerman’. We decided on Nemesis again since it was advertised a 0 minute queue so we thought we might have time for both. We got to Nemesis and we had been queueing for around 5 mins and we were just outside the station when… THE RIDE HAD BROKE DOWN AT 5:30. It became 5.45 and the ride opened again. We got on at around 5.50. We got off with 5 minutes to get to Wickerman… WE RAN A 16 MINUTE IN WALK IN 2 MINUTES AND GOT TO WICKERMAN AT 5.58. We were so happy as since we were in the Wickerman queue before 6 we got to ride. My favourite ride of that day has to be the second Time on Nemesis. I haven’t ridden wicker man, but the logical thing they should possibly do is maybe split the pre show into 2 separate show buildings, one where it is now, and another before it at some point in the que, so the run time is halved and allows the que to flow at certain points
