So after getting them, are you still happy?

Just installed the lower crash bars and the quality is impeccable, they look great, and feel bulletproof. If I could only recommend 2 improvements: - Color instructions with clear photos, the ones that come with the bike were pretty bad, thank god for Woodzman's video, as I'd still be wrenching. - Though these are SS and shouldn't rust, there's an open end on one of the crashbars at an angle that could collect water. Improve the instructions, close that open end and I'd give it a 11 out of 10 ;)

we will work on the instructions. closing the end of the bar could ultimately trap water at a capacity that will never evaporate. sometimes moisture mitigation is better than proofing. Thanks for the support

Have the full system . It’s very good . Being in 3 sections the install was relatively easy. It’s heavy but it’s going to save the bike in a spill.

Hi, guys, I have totally decided for this piece of art but I´d really like to know what is the weight of the full set. Couldn´t find this information anywhere. Thx

Those bars flexed a lot even when gently laying the bike down 0:23
@AltRiderLLC8 жыл бұрын
Hey Benjahnz, That shot showed some very early prototypes constructed partly of plastic. We do this lay down test during the development phase to ensure that the bars contact the ground first, protecting all parts of the bike. The actual production pieces are constructed entirely of 1" and 1.25" diameter stainless steel, and will not flex upon laying the bike down. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for posting this explanation. I shared this concern, and your reply seems reasonable. I appreciate your comparisons with other bar systems, and the detailed explanations of your design and construction processes. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Is the full crashbar kit compatible with Honda's OEM adventure sport bashguard on the CRF1100?
@AltRiderLLC Жыл бұрын
No, our crash bars mount to the same locations as the Honda skid plate, so they don't work together. If you're interested in off-road protection (more than protection from light gravel) consider the AltRider skid plate. We have a brief blog post making a comparison if you're interested: www.altrider.com/blog/detail/id/208

With the amount of flex in the bar with just softly laying the bike down from only the weight of the bike, I'm weary of how well they protect the fairings in the case of a typical drop which would be hill climbing with the bike falling beyond 90 degrees having a decent impact. If someone has some experience with the bars and how well they protect I would appreciate it. Link to this video at 22 seconds showing bar flex. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5bNpK17rq99j7s If the bars work great, and they just need this flex to spread the impact load, awesome. I just want to know before I spend that much money on the bars.

Hi BrokeWar, As we mentioned in our reply to another commenter, the production crash bars are constructed entirely of 1" and 1.25" diameter stainless steel, unlike the early prototypes shown in that lay down test. The full system (which includes the lower bars, upper bars and reinforcement bars) not only provides great coverage but is also extremely strong. Funny you should mention falling on a hill climb, that's exactly what happened during on of our video shoots with a BMW R 1200 GS and the crash bars worked perfectly! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZvUaJ6udstraM0m6s Let us know if you have any other questions!

i didnt see it in the video. are these compatible with the dct model?
@leemski4 жыл бұрын
yeap I've seen them flexing too - I want to be sure also before getting those
@lancelemay69717 жыл бұрын
Will this work for the DCT version of the Africa Twin also or will the lower bar block access to the DCT associated filter? I also wonder if other routine maintenance items with be made so difficult that the bars will need to be removed to accomplish them. The more accessories that are added to the bike, the more opportunity for conflicts it seems.

I need new connector bolts as they get damaged when it gits the ground and then difficult to remove. I do however really like the system
