An older elder friend once shared with me that when a person begs not to be disfellowshiped that its a good indication that they have a "wrong" attitude. And probably should be disfellowshiped. Being aware of the game that goes on helped me to survive 3 judicial committees over my lifetime. So yeah, this is all pretty triggering now, seeing it in hindsight. Edit (great video though Jake)

remove: to disfellowship a person. disfellowship: to remove a person. Judicial Committee: a committee of elders. committee of elders: a Judicial Committee.
@tellusorbit3 ай бұрын
I wasted five years pursuing reinstatement. When I made my decision never to return, a Witness who had been my closest friend in the organization asked me why I wouldn't return. I challenged him to find the words "disfellowship" and "judicial committee" in the Bible. Of course, he couldn't do so. I then told him he had the reason for my refusal to go back. I believe the main reasons I was denied reinstatement were that I was a gay man. Being gay is the worst sin you can commit in the eyes of the Watchtower, worse than murder or child sexual abuse. Then there was my demeanor in the committee meetings. I would not weep, cry or grovel before these men. There was also my challenge to their assertion that in order to be forgiven I had to show "fruits of repentance." When I asked them what fruits of repentance did the prodigal son of Jesus' parable show, I only got an angry silence. I then followed that up with saying, "You think you know better than Christ, don't you?" It's no wonder they slammed the door of returning in my face. Looking back on all of it, I'm glad they did. I walked away without a twinge of conscience or regret.

When I was waking up and talking to him, I asked him how many judicial committees he'd been on over the last 30 years. He admitted about 40 committees (more than one per year). I asked him how many people he's disfellowshipped. He admitted to participating in the disfellowshipping of six people. But it wasn't his decision, nooooo... It was the "decision in heaven," and he was only following orders. The more I listen to him speak, the less I respect him.

Yet, when they feel it is ok, they all of a sudden receive divine insight in to peoples motives. There is no scripture that states God gives humans the ability to read hearts. This is great work Jake. It really really does show both how terrifying and batshit crazy the whole judicial process is. It’s just a kangaroo court full of arrogant morons. The tragedy is the enormous and lifelong impact it has on individuals for often really lame ‘crimes’. The thing that always really baffled me when I was in, was where Jesus was supposed to fit into their version of Christianity. I mean George, could you read Matthew 7:1 and 7:12. I thought the whole entire point of Jesus’ sacrifice according to them, was all about forgiveness and not judging and all that sort of new age love peace n carebears stuff and yet they persist in the hardline old Testament approach to everything. These people would totally stone you to death in a heartbeat if the governing body decided there was scriptural basis for doing that. PS. Whoever leaks this stuff excellent work keep it up. And also a big shout out to Christina and her off camera giggles which always crack me up so much.

Watched this before and I was so disgusted... They acted in this scenario as if all fault is with the woman and how dare she becoming pregnant! And then they assume she is the villain, trapping him in fatherhood, maybe even being promiscuitive and the baby is not his (because of course all women and men of the "world" are promiscuitive and lie about pregnancy or whatever) and he leaves her for being not shunned! Leaving a woman that most likely is the mother of his child and neglecting her for his own good! Having fun, using her emotionally and physically and then leaving her! Anyone else seeing this and shutters? I was a jw and was raised in it but if I would have seen this I would have been outraged. Because I was taught the sexuality is a responsibility and children are a gift and responsibility that you don't toss aside easily. If those talks happened like this then... These elders are mysoginistic as one can be. I left because I didn't want to hypocrite, I didn't want to pretend to belief something only to be with my family. I was taught not to lie and that lying is a sin. But when I tried to live an honest life I was shunned (and in some regards I am still). This is what the organization is teaching about love, honor, responsibility and honesty. I wish more jw would see this and use the rest of brain and empathy they have to understand how... I really wanna swear all the time at that, but I restrain from it.

I don't remember if it worked or not. I was 17 and had a huge crush on her sister who actually let me hold her hand a couple of times but because i was a Jehovah kid and knew nothing about girls i wrote her this note saying i was going to get a job with my dad after i graduated and we could get married. She promptly dumped me and i was a zombie in school for about a week. Oddly, a could of years ago a young pioneer sister who'd just gotten married was murdered at her place of work at a Wendy's and her husband remarried to this girl i liked in 6 weeks. The detectives called me and asked "is that a normal thing in your religion" and i was like no man, i was waiting 2 years to marry this girl and somehow he swept her right up. He quickly moved back to his home town in Holland with her. Always had a feeling he did the deed and split the country.

Guarantee that Lucy's child will grow up to think of their father as a real flake, who never shows up to birthday parties and only wants to spend time with them in the summer at conventions. This is the origin story of many apostates with pomi parents. Robbie does not believe in this cult, but he lacks the critical thinking skillz to actually question the lies of these elders. I feel sorry for Lucy and her unborn child, they did not deserve to be run over by Jehovah's chariot😢

I gotta fight against "switching off" with people every single time I get disappointed even in the slightest, it's hard when you grew up in an environment where that kind of behaviour is normalized, and you are expected to selectively behave as if people were dead to you at the drop of a hat. You have to learn not to forget but to forgive. Also your parents, if you can. It's not your problem anymore then, it's theirs. Just my 2 cents. Much love.
