THIS IS MIND BLOWING.... I'm here in 2019 when I figured this out for myself "I solve business problems mainly through design"... then I found TheFutur and I'm listening to this and this was 4 years ago... 4YEARS!!!! Why didn't I find this earlier? why?? it probably would save me 4 years of my life.... But maybe I wasn't prepared... maybe I needed to go through this pain to find the solution by myself and then come here just for the validation... THANKS The Futur, thanks Chris and thanks Keir!!

I work in the game industry and its totally driven by innovation and technology. I never doubled down on this business because I always feared new tech would put me OUT of business. The moment I decided to become the innovator and disrupt the status quo I lost all fear. The fear you feel is your subconscious telling you, you need to change, you got move and make things happen. Turn the fear into action amigos! This content is worth gold. Thanks you Chris and Keir. You killed it.

Thank you so much Keir and Chris! Very valuable information and full of wisdom. One Q: is it possible to be the best at one deliverable (graphic designer/motion artist/package designers, etc.) and still keep yourself “fluid” enough to grow with technology when it’s pertinent to do so?

Super great video Chris and Keir! Super thank you! I learned so much and I felt I was on cloud nine, until Kier mentioned adobe animate... I'm on adobe cc, and I know about it but I completely disregarded it. It frightened me because If I missed that (because of hubris as a designer) what else am I missing or gonna miss? Will I be a buffalo too? Ouch...

+Jeff Baker Wow. That’s a tough one to answer in this format. There are many factors to consider but there are three basic things you need to know. First, is there a market for what I want to sell. Second, Can I easily find that market. In other words, when you go to inform the market that you are in business are the people you need to find aggregated in a place that you can afford to market too. And third, what is the going rate for your service in the market place and can you sell for somewhere around that number and make a profit. Peace.

A funny story about him talking about after effects, I was explaining to a real estate agent I give the agents my photos so they can use them however they want, and she insisted I only give them to the agents in a limited way so they keep coming back. I knew that business model would turn off a lot of customers so I disagreed, then she brought up how she used to work in animation and there they used not give anyone there whatever program files because it was to their advantage, exactly what Kier talks about at 4:30. Anyone can learn almost anything nowdays, if your business relies on keeping a few tricks that give you somewhat of advantage secret, you need a new business model.

I disagree with what he's saying at around 27-28" about people having innate talent. If you read Outliers by Malcolm Mcdowell he actually talks about how The Beatles got so good - and it's a LOT of work. They played in Munich for months at a time, playing for 8 hours a day. They developed a song book which was INSANELY large because they didn't want to repeat the songs. They learned every style of guitar related music that was around at the time and only because of that did they become to damn tight. I completely disagree that some people 'just have it'. They fucking worked their asses off for it. Anyone can be Paul McCartney with the right work ethic and the right set of circumstances - It's just once in a billion that those two things come together in the right way.
@Kintinn
@Kintinn 6 жыл бұрын
I think you misunderstand what he is saying. People do have innate talent. Some are born natural athletes. Some are born with the ability to do unimaginable mathematical problems. Some are natural talkers. So yes, there are those that have innate talents. He is definitely NOT saying they should simply rely on those abilities and not improve on them. People who stop improving themselves quickly become irrelevant. Your point is very valid but it wasn't quite in line with what his statement actually meant.
