One thing to note with flex is that outside the holiday season your hours are capped at 40 in rolling 7 day window. And at 10 hrs a day. Granted probably 10% or less of the gig community do it full time or more so less of an issue. For me I like flex and the guaranteed money for outside of traditional meal times. A lot of times I'll actually do a 3 or 4 hr shift before going to my full time office job. This morning I caught a surged 4.5 hr for $139.5.0. Started at 330 and I finished actually at 730.

One of the best tips I got was to get a couple expandable crates from Costco and a portable dolly from Harbor Freight. Spark XL orders are usually cases of water and are usually going to buildings that have difficult accessibility. The dolly and crates make it simple.

DEFINITELY wear an Amazon vest. And even then it gets sketchy. Lost count how many times I felt like I was going to get shot for trespassing while delivering for Amazon Flex. Most people simply don't know about Flex, and all they see is some stranger pulling up to their property in an unmarked car. It wouldn't surprise me if someone's already been shot

You can do 7 deliveries for Spark in 4 hours, 20 bucks per delivery and make 140. Also the deliveries are closer and not nearly as labor intensive as Amazon Flex. In Flex you deliver 60 packages in 4 hours walking a long distance for 80 dollars.
@TheTif1292 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, Spark is way better than Amazon flex. I do mainly shop and deliver trips...some only one item to shop for and get paid 19.50(base pay per shop and deliver order, but ends up being more with tip)to shop for the customers. I had a shop and delivery for a gallon of ice cream and it paid me 27 dollars to take it less than 2 miles down the street and ended up being 34 with the customer's tip! I rarely do curbside pickups because most of them are not worth it to me, especially when it comes to the mileage and the tip-baiters. NEVER do the batch orders over 2, as they are never worth the time, miles or money! It's easy to make on average 200 plus dollars per day on Spark in a 4-8 hour shift depending on which orders you take as oppose to Amazon flex. I did Amazon flex once and never looked back as it took me almost 3 to 4 hours to deliver my orders and only made 70 dollars and the miles were insane!

I work as a delivery driver for Walmart...gas prices are crushing us and Walmart is paying less now than before with less bonuses and incentives ...they are paying is delivery drivers 3 dollars a delivery to deliver Amazon ordered or items that could be mailed and having us drivers deliver these items where customers are not able to tip us ... I spent 3 hours the other night driving 40 miles to deliver to 12 customers and after gas not including wear and tear on my car and not including taxes after gas I made about 4 or 5 dollars an hour Walmart is exploiting their independent contractor delivery drivers ...it is a monopoly as Walmart now only uses SPARK a delivery app that is owned by Walmart If we do not wish to accept a delivery that we are assigned because we know we will lose money Walmart penalizes the driver They are rich because we are getting poorer

I do both Flex and Spark. I make more money and more predictable income from Flex. I try to work high demand periods with Flex where my pay ranges from $25 to $44 an hour. When I can't get Flex high demand pay, i drive Spark. From a stress and ease of work perspective, I prefer Spark. Btw, I wear a blue unbranded vest for both Flex and Spark. Customers of Flex can track you one customer in front, not the whole route but they are given an estimate of your arrival based on where you are on your route.

@jasonmendoza20442 жыл бұрын
One HUUUUGE thing you failed to mention about Amazon flex, and the determining factor that’s kept me from going with it, is that you have no idea how many miles your shift will take you. And I’ve seen plenty people say they drive 80-90 miles in a 4hr block, leaving you at about $1 per mile, when in the food delivery apps you say to stick with at least $1.75 per mile. This factor clearly makes it UNPREDICTABLE, as opposed to you saying it’s the more predictable of the two (I know you meant the pay is more predictable, but to someone unknowing it may seem like you meant the whole process) so that unpredictable mileage makes it a hard pass unless you have a car that’s great on gas (which I’m working on, then I’ll probably flex it up a bit 🦾). I do apologize if this comes off as me being negative…you are just leaving a huge factor out of the equation and may mislead some people into a situation they aren’t ready for 👌🏽

As with any gig app it is market specific as to how well you will do. In my market, I average anywhere between $40 and $50 an hour with spark on a good day. On a slow day I can average anywhere between $25 and $30 an hour. The incentives are great. Most pickups consist of 2 deliveries and in my market they are within 3 to 6 miles of the store. Spark is absolutely more popular than food delivery because of the pay first and foremost. And what's really nice about spark, at least in my area, is they do not oversaturate the zone with drivers like food apps do. If you were to come here and try to be a driver in my zone it will say that it is full and you will be put on a wait list. Right now I know a couple of people that have been wait listed for a few months and are still waiting. I would tell anybody else who is that it is definitely worth the wait and to hang in there.

I’ve been on the Spark waitlist since this past December. I’ve been told by a few Spark drivers I’ve talked to while picking up Walmart grocery orders for Uber Eats that it’s definitely worth it to deliver for Spark right now.

We do not have Flex here but we do have Spark. I do a lot of Spark and it's my choice of apps at this time. From what you are saying about Flex having guaranteed pay for that shift, it seems like Spark. Spark doesn't actually have a schedule however if you take an order for say $45 and it is going 35 miles, that is almost like a shift since you know it is going to taking you about 2 hours. That to me is a lot like Flex. Meaning you are guaranteed $45 dollars for that length time it takes you. They both seem very similar to me. Maybe someday we will get Amazon Flex here and I can do them both :-)

As a Flex, any and all packages that could not be delivered during the shift must be returned to the Amazon warehouse after that shift ? Also if packages are not delivered, this will also affect the drivers over all pay ? I am considering the Amazon warehouse mileage to the multiple trips to Walmart.
@hi383252 жыл бұрын
All undeliverable packages are required to be returned immediately to the wearhouse upon completion of the final deliverable package. The training from Amazon also encourage you to make another attempt to deliver undeliverable packages once all others have been delivered. Undeliverable packages won't immediately impact your pay, you get paid for the estimated time, not the number of packages you deliver. But, too many undeliverable packages will impact your rating from Amazon, and could eventually lead to deactivation.

@@meanssnothingg Amazon is strict on time. If the warehouse is late giving out the packages, so are you. Amazon do not take this into consideration. You are put at risk for being late. Spark do not stress out about time. Also, you receive tips. If you have to return something, you get additional pay. It isn’t much but Amazon doesn’t give out any additional money. I would say that Flex is more of a side or backup type of app where as spark can absolutely be done full time. I would argue that spark is one of the best apps that you can do out of any of them if not the best in some markets. I really only do Amazon Flex blocks if I get a minimum of a $30 an hour base pay on my block. So if I get a 5-hour block I'm not accepting it for anything less than $150. It's important to remember that there are probably going to be multiple Walmarts in your area if you do spark, so it's good to look around and see which ones pay the best. Some are going to be terrible while others are going to be gold mines. I made $386 this past Sunday and 8 and 1/2 hours and all but $20 of it was spark. The other small bit was $19.99 double Uber eats that I couldn't pass up for under 3 miles. The reason why spark has the edge over most apps including flex, in my opinion is that not only can you make fantastic paper hour, but typically the pay per mile is much higher than most of the other apps. I'm usually making anywhere between $3 on the low end too as big as $7 or higher per mile for each batch that I take. And the incentives are way better than any other app in my opinion. But again, that could depend on your market. EDIT: also, you can always switch your zones on Walmart spark if you have Walmarts that are too far away from you. It might just be that you're working in the wrong zone. Walmart's are everywhere, so all you have to do is put in whatever zip code you want to work in and it will show you where the Walmarts are located that you can do spark. Mike, if you're having to drive 30 minutes to your closest Walmart then you might want to experiment with your different zones in your area and see if there's one that's better for you. You can switch zones as much as you want and you can work anywhere in the country that spark is available. I'm in florida, but I could literally go and put a Seattle ZIP code into my spark account and switch over to Seattle right now if I wanted to.
