Love y'all. I was at an LGBT retreat this past weekend with 7 other lesbians. The sad part is that most studs/butches judge other studs and femmes like to hog the spotlight with their 'woe is me' stories and don't hold space for masc women. Its crazy how we judge each other and create an unsafe space. One femme thought she'd sleep with me and just couldn't handle that I rejected her. Lol. We have a long way to go. 🏳️‍🌈🇿🇦

This was informative and hilarious at the same time😂. No, but seriously when you're a giver sometimes people automatically assume that it is fine to just keep on taking. It's nice and appreciated to get something back from time to time. I've experienced this in relationships and friendships. With me it was always whenever,wherever,whatever I got you. In return I didn't even get half of the effort. Since I'm still a giver at heart I've learned to keep my circle small and be mindful when dating so people can't really mess with my energy 😉.

I am 33 years old now, and it’s been a long journey of figuring out what exactly I’m looking for in a partner. I can really relate to what you said about having someone buy you flowers. In all of my past long term relationships not once did any woman buy me flowers, even pick a flower for me. I don’t know what it is about appearing masculine that seems to communicate that we don’t need to be appreciated or shown in small ways that they care. I would surprise her with breakfast in bed, or a special dinner with wine, propose date night and even just leave little notes of appreciation. My last relationship was 4 years long and she bought me flowers for the first time after I already told her I was ready to break up. I may appear more masculine but, my feminine energy is always very present. Now I know that I’m looking for that someone that will make me feel as special as I make them feel. Thank you guys for your content, it’s really nice to see a strong lesbian community form over all of these topics a lot of us didn’t have access to when we were younger ❤

My first butch girl (she referred to herself that way) was in a place that she really wanted to be a man but she still had a lot of feminine emotions of course. I wish I had known more about how to fulfill her in all her ways. I felt like she wanted to just be treated as if she was a man but looking back I can see it so much clearer. Something that definitely came up for me when you (Amber) said that it'd be a red flag if they aren't working on any mental health/awareness stuff is that if someone wants to be with me, one of my must-haves is that they are in therapy. I personally believe everyone should be in therapy and there are so many reasons for that, especially when in a relationship. In short, I believe therapy can foster a healthy relationship with the self while building communication, coping, and processing skills - all of which are extremely necessary for both halves of a partnership to meet one another where they're at.

Oh boy this reminded me of a story. I had a close friend that when she got drunk she would get sexual…with almost any cute person. She had never been with a girl but knew I had. One night she attacked me and I didn’t wanna hurt her feelings. I wasn’t really attracted to her like that although I love her as a friend. She wanted to go down on me and oh boy…she was ALL over the place. I almost laughed. I go back and forth in my head about having someone who wants you opposed to someone who needs you. I get not wanting to deal with someone who needs you financial and having to have to take care of them and all that. When I think of need I want to be needed in a way of I missed you… missed your kisses… missed your air… missed your touch. I want someone to need me for those things. If I’m just wanted . Communication is key! I'm in my 40s, femme, my honey is Masc and we were very clear about our wants, needs, and how we approach roles and labels. Thankfully, we matched! I would have hated for her to carry on in the stud- traditional dominant role if it wasn't fulfilling, or if it wasn't an expression of her self described truest self. It's hard over here in the south you damn sure can't find no great woman at a queer bar maybe friends but thats it. What works for me is queer apps or queer friendly apps like Hinge. There's also this queer sports league. where I can meet women and make queer friends. It's full like every other though I'm going to be on the look out though. Dating women is lovely though.
