When my company refreashed their PC line up I suggested we go with a model with a 256 GB SSD model instead of the 1 TB HDD model. Why? Cause once all our programs where installed and what not the install size was like 35-40 GB, and we mostly work with PDFs, and so forth no large files. My purchasing manager went with the 1TB HDD cause "its more space and future proofing"

What you said is why intel was not concerned about AMD even though zen 2 is good. When I mentioned this to someone a few months ago I was lit up saying just because of the process I have u am a fanboy. No the facts are there and what you said is fact.

Same boat.....Enthusiast market? Definitely AMD period, but overall, Intel still way ahead. Intel still the major CPUs used in commercial class products. I've got bashed by this AMD fanboy when I mentioned the above, he thinks that AMD now king of the kings in ALL CPUs. LOL. People don't understand that Intel might already have long term deals with this OEMs for their various products.

Jd Abraham so true. Yes I love building computers but from 2007 to mid 2018 I stopped. Laptops were my life and most had intel. The few with AMD were so disappointing. Intel looks at the enthusiast market as literally chump change.

Jd Abraham agreed, however I believe intel is losing steam as they had just recently lost their contract with Apple, so AMD might be getting the lead soon here. But yes Intel has definitely been winning with their server products and basic-consumer stuff, I think AMD has a LOT of promise in the next decade to come

Hi Tech, I am thinking of full upgrade from 3570k HD7700, to B450- 3700X for the cores, and a (cheaper GPU, 1660S) soon. [in my country those cost S$1700+ full case, nvme etc.] Do you think i should get those in June-July or wait for better deals on GPU? Any issues with my build? I play some games, CSGO, Dota only.

Waiting for ampere would be wise

I wonder how the overall sales numbers would look If we factored in AMD cpu's sold in games consoles.

In the coming years, I expect the overall market share to shift. I'm not sure how long this will take considering that Intel is currently ~10x the size of AMD on just about every measure, but I'd argue that AMD will eventually takeover because AMD is building the brand that Intel is losing; both internally and externally. Francois Piednoel (ex-Intel) has a video "How to fix Intel?", in which he discusses the technical and cultural problems at Intel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJqum62bgciibMU Comparing AMD and Intel's Brand: Internal Brand (Company Culture): ------------------------------------------------------- I wanted to analyze the differences in company culture, so I looked at Glassdoor. Summary: AMD scored higher in 6 areas: Career Opportunities, Senior Management, Culture & Values, CEO Approval, % Recommend to a friend, and Positive Business Outlook. Intel Corporation scored higher in 1 area: Compensation & Benefits. Both tied in 2 areas: Overall Rating and Work-life balance. www.glassdoor.com/Compare/AMD-vs-Intel-Corporation-EI_IE15-E1519.htm This is obviously not scientific, Intel has ~6x the reviews (And ~10x the employees, maybe bigger companies always skew this way, but nevertheless...) Intel only scored higher in compensation and benefits. They have plenty of cash now, and all their financial metrics are great, but if they start losing big customers, this financial strength would be gradually eroded. External Brand: ---------------------------------------------------------- Market Cap, PE (Price to Earnings), and PEG (Price to Earnings Growth) reflect investor sentiment. Could investor sentiment be considered a proxy for brand sentiment? If so, then AMD is destroying Intel. AMD's revenue is 1/10 of Intels, and yet their market cap is half of Intel's! Intel's PE is 9, AMDs is 158. Intel's PEG is 1, AMDs is 5!
