Under this state model, that business entity could basically price gouge the consumer (you know, ADMs). Also imagine that said product was the second most expensive thing that most people would ever buy in their life. I will likely drive it for the rest of my life. I have no need for a limo truck with a 4 foot bed. I have a bench seat that 3 people can comfortably fit into. Ford, GM, and Ram do make such trucks (except they don't have bench seats, so only 2 people fit in them) You won't find them on dealer lots. You have to buy them through fleet sales, which I can do, because I have a relative with an HVAC/pluming/electrical business. But I'm not paying over $50,000 for a base model work truck that would be broken down half the time because of all the trash technology they have. My 1979 Ford is FAR more reliable than anything they make today. Oh, and my truck has 15" wheels with REAL tires with 6 1/2' sidewalls that will go anywhere. It's not a ghetto cruiser. Just try and take those 22" ghettos off road and see what happens.

Bingo!! Overproduced. I do not care what the Madison Avenue nutcases say, a truck is a truck. The big reason that all American manufacturers have focused on trucks is the level of profit. Other than the clothes they put on them, the basics are the same and have been for decades, so the cost of production has gotten down. In economics, it is called the Law (and I repeat the Law) of diminishing returns. The dealers, with their wonderful "Dealer Packs", have reached that and reality seems to have gone out the door. Sell them at MSRP and everyone makes a nice amount of money. Jason is absolutely correct. Oh, the manufacturers are aware. The issue is the dealers and their price gouging.

Americans love trucks but prices above $60k on average nobody wants it. There are better thinga people need to do with their money.

Just purchased a new Honda Ridgeline. I looked at the Ford F-150 but couldn’t justify paying $20k more as a weekend warrior that doesn’t ever need to tow anything. Also would have like to compare to the Ranger and 2023 GMC Canyon but there was no inventory of those models.

Just bought a 2023 RAM 1500, had a sticker price of 50k with all the incentives and discounts and my trade which the dealer was generous with got the price down to $32,000 with 4k down only owe $28k. So yes dealers are working deals to sell trucks.

If you don’t mind sharing, which trim did you go for? At that price, sounds like an optioned big horn or Laramie…..

The problem is these dealerships marking prices up far beyond the MSRP. Car makers need to sell their own cars. Dealerships are a middleman that needs to be evaporated. All they do is mark up prices and rip people off. If you can afford to design and build a car, then you can surely afford to sell it. Abolish dealerships.

Most of these prices need to be cut 15k off MSRP for them to sell.

I totally agree. The price is outrageous on trucks. Is there having too many mechanical and electrical problems on the new models. At this point, your Maya's will buy an old rig. You pay less, and you're taking a chance Is on it being a lemon anyway for less price. It's getting to the point you can't even pay the vehicle off before it's worn out. As much as you pay for a pickup truck. It might as well spend the money and buy a tractor rig with a sleeper. You're gonna be a quarter of a million dollars into it anyway

Problem I have is I like the size of my 2004 Dodge 2500 quad cab with 6.5 foot bed. All these new trucks are going for the crew cab with 5 or 6 foot beds. They don't fit in my garage because they are too long. I think you can still get a base Ram with quad cab and 6 foot bed but not sure. I really don't want the base model. I like my Laramie package. I think a 5 foot bed is kind of worthless for most stuff. Even my 6 foot bed can be a pain at times. Also, the price of these new trucks are just insane. I can't see spending that much for casual use. I'm looking at SUV's right now and if I need to haul something I will rent a trailer or just rent a truck from home depot. I think I could actually buy an SUV and trailer cheaper than a new truck!

The problem isn't the forty thousand dollar price tag the problem is Is the market adjustments being added to the prices Of tens of thousands of dollars. There are multiple KZbin channels that are saying the opposite of what you say car edge car questions answered lucky Lopez. The retail market prices and with adjustments. They are visiting dealers and trucks are $70-80000k+? So please respond to give us your opinion.

It must be a regional issue. Here in the PNW the Costco stores parking lots are filled with the supercrew cabs and people packing out the big screen TV's and cases of bottled water. There's just no financial issues here apparently. I have go as guest to Costco as I haven't had a membership in years. I might only go to the store once a year and get a hotdog and mostly just people watch as I just can't afford their grocery prices.
