the drop in fall that broke dads ankle, i fell like that after i missed the coping trying to frontside slash and all my weight went to the back. my board shot out pretty hard and i fell the same way backwards and not a scratch. i guess it was more of a slip out. i just let my weight shift to much

Who needs the nine club when we’ve got Tony and Jace!?
@darude5 ай бұрын
@@JayBoogie666 Well, personally I'm checking out the Nine Club here and there as well, they're not mutually exclusive, but I like the quite different guests HvW have and different kind of history I learn here, but also like the often more technical and perhaps more street skating history stuff you get on the 9, plus they also have perhaps more current affairs tackled.

Hey guys, I'm an old cat, 48 to be exact. Can we agree to old dudes using old names for tricks as long as you young cats know what we're talking about? I feel that'll simplify conversations a bit. Aight then thanks guys!

I’m a “young cat” (33 lol) and I completely agree with this sentiment! The old trick names pay homage to the creators of the tricks. For instance I now say “a boneless one” instead of boneless. And a frontside grind is a fs 5-0 grind on a ramp. Know your history, folks. Thanks for the content Birdman and Jason ( been following you for a decade from your XM show Jason). Keep pushing homies!

There was a contest at the Malibu Skatepark, P.J.’s back in 2001 and Tom was like 3 and skated the halfpipe on his hands and knees. I was there!
@SabrinaMorris5 ай бұрын
This episode touched on something high in the stratosphere of skateboarding-what do you do to progress after you've done something that smashes the ceiling. How do you top yourself either through creativity or bravery or both or something else? The notion is incomprehensible at 900s on vert ramps, but relatable because we each have our own ceilings. That's why Jason being the 2nd person ever to jump/ride a mega ramp is colossal. Figuring out the timing on a mega ramp without ending your career boggles the mind. I'm also thinking I should make a Las-Vegas-Jimmy-Wilkins-style bet off of Tom in the Olympics. Come away from it all rich.

When Tom was talking about his dad it reminded me of my dad (who was a pharmacist and not in the best of shape) convinced me as a kid he knew how to Ollie but he was lying and would just do hippie jumps lol like just jumping off the board and landing on it again and now that i look back on that even that is impressive for a dude who was never on a board. That’s funny the things this podcast reminds me of
