Before industrialization, most people had a mostly vegetarian diet without much processing involved in making food. Now if you live in the average US city the most common food you will find is junk food filled with meat, bread, cheese, sugar and mystery ingredients. Capitalism has forced food deserts to appear where the only option is McDonalds or 711. And when you can buy an unhealthy cheeseburger at McDonalds for a coupl bucks, it costs a dollar to buy a single apple from 711. This crisis was man-made and the issue is bigger than exercise or changing diets.

Modern American diet looks like it was created by a 12yo. Dairy, meat and starches. Combine in any possible way. Done.
@Pomeray8
@Pomeray8 2 жыл бұрын
Not quite. Vegetarianism comes from the 7th Day Adventist cult leader Ellen G Smith and her fear of people fucking (similar to Kellogg (who invented corn flakes to lower sex drive)and Graham (who invented his cracker to lower sex drive) What happened in America is the personal feeling of Ancel Keyes, that lead to paying off doctors the equivalent of $60k to say that it was saturated fat and not sugar that caused heart disease. Nutritional guidelines were changed to reflect this. The population with the highest current life expectancy eats the highest amount of meat per capita: Hong Kong. Look up nina tiecholz, dr robert lustig, the framingham heart study, john yudkin. Keyes NEVER wanted his ideas tested. The french contradicted them (lots of lard, butter, smoking and wine). Even parts of the 7 countries he looked at. Yudkin's work was buried by Keyes until a relative uncovered boxes in 2016. A side note on veg/veganism: there are over 15 key nutrients you can only get from animal foods.
@Pomeray8
@Pomeray8 2 жыл бұрын
@@globalist1990 we ate meat to become the humans we are. Other creatures eat flesh (even some plants are carnivorous). That's not modern! It's the species appropriate diet we evolved to eat. All those omega 3's grew our brains. Hell, even herbivores will sometimes eat meat: cows eating snakes, horses eating ducks, deer eating rabbits, geese eating deer carcasses.
@HollisPresnell
@HollisPresnell 2 жыл бұрын
@@Pomeray8 You don't know what you're talking about. It's a fact most people pre-industrial society did not eat meat on a regular basis or at all. The two most common diets of humans were pescetarian or vegetarian. This did not mean that people didn't eat meat, I never said that. It means that most people did not have much access to meat or if they kept animals they would not eat them frequently, with the exception of nomadic people who followed animals or herded them. Just because people eat a lot of meat now doesn't mean it's always been this way. Factory farms didn't exist 600 years ago.

@@Goyaboyayoga The quote literally refers to the physics of vacuums/fluid dynamics. Air will rush to fill any space unless you block it, as you know. The analogy to this video: the 'vacuum' or void is the lack of feasible ways for people to maintain their health/weight while coping with modern life's pressures. Food deserts being one of the biggest factors, as mentioned in the video. This void, or desperation for a way to improve one's health, is filled right away by the many charlatans pushing BS fixes to the problem to enrich themselves. Opportunists (who themselves may be desperate to make ends meet, like the tiktokers depicted) rush in with easy, costly non-answers. As usual, the systemic problem is vast and tied into the forces of capital, so the market provides us lots of band-aids that will never cure the underlying disease. I'm long-winded, but hopefully the point for across.
