Offside is a rule in football where you can't have one of your players closer to the goalside than any of the defending players when the ball is passed, so it's a reference to that, basically saying his nose is so big that it's closer to goalside than the opposing players even if he's only at the halfway line or whatever

I listened to a program on BBC radio 4 on football chant's. Yes there is a professor of football chant's. Some chant's go back to before the first world war. One chant was based on the chime's of the clock in the Portsmouth football ground when the royal navy gun batteries (port and Starboard batteries) played each other, and the crowd wanted extra time. I think a key difference there you mentioned is that with NFL, the team is a franchise, so it's happened where the team is moved to the other side of the country or a new one can spring up from nowhere, where as your College teams, like our Football clubs, don't move. You're often born into supporting your local team/club and even if you yourself move to another town/city, you are still all about that team you grew up with.

So interesting to hear about your own experience with sports Beard. Football here is both territorial and not at the same time. The big clubs get lots of supporters from all over the world, but the vast majority of clubs draw their support from the local area and have done for 100yrs or more in many cases. Lots of people support a smaller club in their area and also the big team that they are local to. I work with disabled adults so i get a lot of opportunity to attend cricket, rugby and football in my local area even though they arn't particularly sports I'm interested in. They get free tickets and often really good support from the sporting organisation themselves. One of them (im not going to say which sport so as not to cast aspersions) gives my clients prime box seats with a private room pregame and at half time with food and drink and the kind of service you would expect as a VIP. Favourite chant is "marching on together" might give you a clue as to who my local team is :D Keep up the great work mate.

The Second one was about the FFP stich up that was overturned the minute a real court looked at it. Fans get banned if they are violent in, on or around the football stadium. Some people really don’t care about the games, but only come to fight physically with fans of the opposing team. They can get banned for up to four years. There are cameras all over the stadiums and watchers keeping track of people entering. If a fan, who has been banned, shows up they are arrested on the spot by police. Hooliganism is viewed very seriously in Great Britain. Denmark has been studying how Great Britain handles hooligans as we have some problems in that field as well.

You cant acknowledge anything on the pitch. at the end of the game your stood there motioning for fans to leave via the concourses or the side. If you tasked with the away fans or an area close to it then you on higher alert for flair ups and in some cases have to get hands on with the public. 100% having relocated to Glasgow from Liverpool I’m getting the banter off all the rangers fans like. Every one of them has said they’re going down just to be there!!! 🤷🏽‍♂️ One lad I know was asking me how far is haydock from the city centre coz that’s the nearest place he could get a hotel. I told him he may as well have just stayed on the train back here because it’s miles away from Liverpool like. But I can’t wait for this game and the return leg 8 days later up here. I hope we absolutely batter them. Fuck the Rangers! Or sevco or whatever ye wanna call them. Bigoted muppets!

if they chant "its 4-0" the OTHER team has 4 points, theirs 0.... Rule in sport is that you always say/list the other team's score first.

In the 80s and 90s football hooliganism was a massive problem. These chants stem from that era when they spilled into full fights after games with stabbings ect the park park chant. Is a reference to a player called ji sung park who is Korean hence the dog eating reference

The cops filming the crowd while they chant "we paid for your hats" is hilarious... Typically people on the sidelines are ball boys so they don't really take any flack from the fans and I've personally never seen any of them get involved with the chants. If the linesman falls over or something you can guarantee the crowd will all laugh at him or what ever but in general the chants are always directed at the opposing club, players or people closely associated with the club such as board members, ex players and staff etc.

Considering how effective he is as a player, if Ibrahimovich has a harder time staying onside because of a large nose, his opponents will take all the help they can get trying to stop him.

2:14: Might be that it's a recurring chant, could be that there was more than one person filming and uploading a video of the game 😋 I think it's another angle of the same game, sounds familiar to the other clip and the movement of the players seems to be the same.

Basically Man City (my team the big blue moon gives it away) managed to get into Europe before Uefa pulled the ladder up and made it harder. Now despite having been in Europe before the 1980s we had gone through 40 years of not winning anything before our owners came in and made us the richest club in the world (at that point in time) however Uefa wanting to only keep the clubs who had been successful since the big money era started post 1977 and create a European Franchise of the same teams every year decided that banning us from the Competition would deny us the points in their point system that they had set up (effectively removing us within a few years) So having used their own biased Uefa court to try and remove us City went to the official Sports courts of Europe who basically overturned it as a setup. Ironically the Rags (Man United) have fallen out of the competition since the rules to try and rig the participants were put under the spotlight by media, courts and Governments...

City were given a two-year ban from European club competitions for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and everyone knows they did it. And since money rules they found their way back in. Rags you say? without your financial doping you would be in league one jumping up and down to/from the championship.
@Robedon
@Robedon 2 жыл бұрын
@@menfaaanda haha, want to talk about financial doping, The rags never paid City back for the three bailouts never paid the Tailors who gave them 'free' kits to be paid back later and never paid Stretford Council back for the money, work and repairs to rebuild Old Trafford in time to beat Maine Road to the Manchester stadium for the 1966 world cup. The rags name came from Stealing borrowed kits and the swamp name came from the place falling down, funny how history is repeating the second one eh. United are literally guilty of contractual theft from their older neighbours the local businesses and the taxpayers. Funny what happens when you know history farther back than 1992... You can cry all you want and try to pretend that City's finances aren't legal but you know it's just a delaying tactic and annoyance at them not copying other morally questionable merchandising decisions to bring in the Chinese markets made by other clubs.

@@menfaaanda financial doping you say? City helped out United so much in the past when they were down and out e.g. after the Munich disaster so would unlikely still be a club without City's help

I spent many years policing football matches and more often than not the chants were happy and passionate. I don’t like football (prefer rugby) and very rarely the chants were made towards the police or the paramedic staff and even then the chants were friendly or funny.
