Food and water are obviously not "human rights". You cannot state something is your right if another person needs to provide it to you. If there is no food or water and someone needs to go work to get some, how can the fruit of their labor be your right? That's called slavery. Obviously providing clean water to people is part of the responsibilities of government and you pay taxes so they can do the work necessary to provide the water. But that is not the same thing as "human rights".

but while we may claim the moral high ground, all of the parties that have been in power the past decades all have more in common than they don't. and all will partner up with the same partner unless they really have to. for a really long time it was a government of either red/green or black/yellow. As always ignoring the commies. the times we tried any other coordination they struggled to come to a conclusion , sometimes going as far as consideriing re-elections due to their inability to cooperate. Winning over 5% to get seats in the government requiers media backing and funding. the biggest media outlets are all owned by people with connection to the industry, and so the parties that will statistically get more presence in the minds of people are those, that benefit who ever's got the media outlets in their pockets. If someone else makes it into the government, like the left, they are simply being denied cooperation. can you really, truly say we have a system that leads to more than two choices in germany? To be fair, at least we have a couple cases of exceptions. And our government is not yet as dismissive of human rights as that of the us. But we're getting there. it's the same same but different

I'm italian, so i don't know about the rest of europe, here you can get a car license at the age of 18, however for motorbikes it works differently, there are 3 different licenses, from the age of 16 you can drive motorbikes up to a maximum of 125 engine capacity, from the age of 18 you can drive almost all motorbikes but with some limits, from 24 years old (or 20 if you have already had a license for two years) there are no longer any limitations

18 is also the age for a car driver's license here in Finland, but a person turning 17 may seek a special exception for it, if they need it for work, school, sports practice, hobbies, or other such provable reasons. Based on your comment, motorbike license rules seem the same. However, even for those 50cc mopeds/scooters you need a license here in Finland if you were born in 1985 or later. Although not for electric scooters that have a max speed of 25kph. If you were born before 1985, you got the necessary skills from your mother's milk, I assume.

Actually I think US chocolates contains less sugar than our European versions. It's their regular food that is more sugary, lots of Americans that react to European candy always remark on how sweet it tastes. And if you look at a Hershey Bar, it contains 45g of sugar per 100g product while a Tony's Caramel Sea Salt contains 52.1g of sugar per 100g of product.

American living in EU (Lived in different countries) From EU Perspective: Driver License: 17-18 years old. Drinking Age/Beer culture: 15-18 years old. Drink responsibly is what I tell my kids. (I live in Scandinavia.) It's less of a hassle and problem if they have freedom because that gives them the option to try things out without doing anything illegal in the process. The sense of doing something taboo enhances the willingness to do it, in certain contexts. Voting system: US voting is archaic, antiquated and outright blocks out more options to ruling and prosperity. Multi-party systems are better as they're more focused on issues, than Right vs. Left. Water in EU = In general much much clear. (EU you pay for water because of the cleaning and maintenance) Water in US = In general chemically infused with chlorine and whatnot, needing to buy/install filters. (US also pays for water, but generally bottled not tap, AFAIK) F vs C: Fahrenheit is nonsensical. Celsius is logical and simple to learn. 0 Celsius water freezes. 100 Celsius water boils. 36-37 Celsius is regular human body temperature. Relationship EU vs US: Strained for the most part, but honestly, we're more nervous of US culture seeping into EU than anything else. The wokeness should stay away. Flag culture: It's different from country to country in EU. Most nations are happy to flag away, but no one is unfurling their flag constantly. Some places they're used to denote/mark birthdays, deaths, holidays etc., other places they're imperative to Football games (soccer). It depends really on the country. From EU perspective, the US idolizes their flag too much. Gives Nazi vibes. EU vs US Chocolate: Mmm... EU wins, hands down. So many brands and so much history. I mean, I can get Belgian chocolate any day of the week... not good for the figure, but heck tastes amazing. Metric vs Imperial: Hmm... UK here 👋 I agree with all points listed here with some additions. 1) I tried US chocolate recently and found I couldn't actually taste the cocoa in it and that it had a aftertaste I can only describe as what I imagine clay tastes like. 2) Here we use both imperial and metric and can switch between the two fairly effortlessly (although I personally usually default to imperial distances and weight) and let's not kid ourselves we use inches for more then tvs and rims... 3) Although there are multiple parties that run for government it usually boils down too the big two, but maybe that's just here because of how the seating system in the houses work 🤷‍♂️

Alsoindustrial piping valves and couplings are designated in Imperial. BSP is a standard in the metric system. For us Europeans its normal to have f.e.a 6 meter lenght pipe with a 3/4" BSP thread om both ends.

For example water used for cooking is not usable for either of this things, even if it started on highest grade, you can't use it for gardening too. You need to filter and clean it before using it on other purposes. And then you need a source of that 2nd grade and 3rd grade water. From where did it come? Do you triple plumbing on whole city level to do it, and even then how it's 2nd grade and 3rd grade made? And then what? Because you would have to have separate filtering facilities with less filtering levels depending on grade. You can't just stop in the middle of standard process to create half-filtered water. And then it's a matter of scale. It's always more efficient to filter water in big facility then in thousand homes separately. The only sensible thing i know is just collecting rainwater so it's not drained immediately through sewage systems and use it to watering gardens or cleaning.

in Portugal you can start taking the drivers license at 17, but only if your 18th birthday is like 6 months or less away, and you can only actually drive at 18, plus we can get our motorcycle license at 16, but you're only allowed to drive 125cc motorcycles, with time you can "upgrade" the license and drive other motorcycles. And yes our legal age of drinking and buying alcohol is 18, but by 18 a lot of people stop drinking or refrain from drinking much, because we started early and had our fun. I started drinking at 13, i'm 18 now and only drink in family reunions or gatherings at a walking distance from my house. Plus at around 15/16 years old drinking with the consent of parents is a thing here. Most parents know their kids drink.

In most European countries we have a larger number of parties and then the left-center-right scheme can give you a broad overview. But like with every generalization, you have to take it as that. For me (in Switzerland) it is mostly interesting to see how broad acceptance on initiatives are. E.g. coming Sunday we are voting on an energy bill that is opposed by both the green-liberals (center-left) and SVP (our most right main-stream party). That, to me is an interesting alliance that needs to be dissected. Same with labels/names, I mean Green party gives you a general idea but it is not the end all, mean all. Again the same bill is advocated for by the Green Party (left), but as I already mentioned, opposed by the Green Liberal Party. In summary: It's usually more complicated

Not sure if american chocolate is waxy, but quite a bit of american milk chocolate is preserved using butyric acid (because that's the procedure invented by Hersheys and Hersheys got a government comission to supply the US military in one of the world wars, meaning lots of soldiers found the flavour nostalgic and wanted to have it when they got home) which is the chemical responsible for the characteristic smell and aftertaste of vomit. But if water is bottled, than you are paying a private company who makes the plastic bottle and distributions in general. If you go somewhere and you ask for a glass of water from the sink (if it's drinkable water) they will give it for free, but we aren't really used to it. There are some places where you can find refillable bottle water (made of glass), but are still kinda rare. And we also have public fountains in parks, where you can refill bottles of water or drink directly from there.

But if the building owner has the final say and can veto the vote, there is no freedom. Can you buy an apartment at all or just rent it? Because if you can buy it, but you still cannot carry out a thorough renovation, including plumbing or electrical installation, where is this freedom? Is there such a thing as a state institution in the USA that protects the rights of residents? There is something like this in Europe, it works a bit differently in each country, but it is there. Moreover, the washing machine hose can be installed in such a way that the water flows into the bathtub, shower or sink drain without the need for hydraulic intervention. I also understand that in apartments where you can't have a washing machine, you can't have a dishwasher, right? because the principle of operation is basically the same, so it would be very illogical if you could have one and not the other.
