I am Tibetan, I used to study in the UK. I once got into an argument with an Italian who said that China had stolen Tibet and that the Tibetans should be independent. (I guess he couldn't tell I am Tibetan by my appearance.) I told him I am Tibetan and that the vast majority of Tibetans in China were very thanks for the Chinese government and that the Chinese government had never tried to eradicate Tibetan culture, but had protected it very well. The Italian was obviously surprised and then said, "That's because all the Tibetans who don't like the CCP have been killed off and people like you are the only left... Anyway, when a real Tibetan stands in front of you and tells you something and you don't believe, I don't think there is any point in continuing this conversation.

Why the U.S among all places? And did the ccp pay for ur tuition fees..?
@wentaofeng55482 жыл бұрын
@@elanor2123 Well there are many reasons tho. I, myself, am a Chinese who has spent roughly ten years in US studying and working. Back to your questions. For the first one, many Chinese parents would like to send their kids to US for education (college mainly), bc in their minds, the high-level education offered by US were greater than local schools (I wont consider the education itself is better tho, but from what I have experienced, the certificate from a high-ranked college in US definitely makes it easier to get a job interview in China, somehow big shots in China just feel the certificates from schools like Harvard or MIT are superior than the ones granted by local schools). Also, the College Extrance Exam in China is way too hard if you want to go to a good college (completely different level compared to SAT or ACT, I scored around 2100 in SAT in 2011, which is not too bad and I considered myself a mediocre high school student in China), so many parents decide to choose another way which is having their kids studying aboard. There are actually private agencies and companies to help them rebrand their kids and make their profile shine more in order to get accepted by high-ranked colleges. US definitely isnt their only choice tho, but since it has the most high-ranked colleges, people just tend to conisder it as their first choice. As for whether CCP pay for the tuition....well, not likely. Certainly there are programs about studying aboard offered by government but it is very very difficult to be selected as a candidate, way more difficult than passing the College Entrance Test. You would have to be the best of the best to even apply for the program

Two mistakes he made out of ignorance. One is that Carrie Lam as CEO did not muscle up to the rich tycoons of Hong Kong and the housing issues. In the interview with Liu Xin, she already advised that she has earmarked some additional housing to be provided. Forgot the numbers of apartments to be build. The other is the Chinese government failure to deliver to the world their success and capability. He forgets that humility is a trait that the Chinese cherished and even resort to self deprecation to hide their success. The Chinese government's role is to boast about their achievements but rather to let their progress and development speak for themselves unlike the Western mindset of bragging first achievement second. There is no point triumphing about the Chinese good governance as it is for the Chinese people and not the West. The West and the Westerners demonise China out of their own racism and for that he failed to understand. Lots of the demonising is racism based and nothing more nothing less. Racism is irrational and hideous and you cannot change their mindset and hence the leadership leave it to the FOMA spokesperson to deal with the outside world via their press briefings.

We're interfering with China's technological development, effectively attacking the economy and military, by blacklisting Chinese tech companies and blocking the purchase of EUV machines from ASML. We're engaging the Chinese navy in their own waters to "contain" them. We're trying to weaken China's soft power through negative propaganda. Our tariffs were unnecessary and confrontational, and Biden doubled down on a policy likely tweeted from Trump's gold plated toilet. That's only what we're allowed to know. First off.. Wow.. A Jew huh? What does he think about what's happened to the Kaifeng Jews? Is he even aware of them? He just casually mentioned Jews in his over 18 religous policy (true ✓) But then again.. Where are the Jews now? Matter of fact, what happened to the local Israel studies department, even at the local university~ I'm tired of you guys just hiding behind " No one said china is perfect".. No one says china should be!! The point isn't that it should be perfect, the point is about having the kind of government that literally decides these kinds of things for people, at the threat of having your organs harvested~ The problem is the catagory of problems all it's problems are falling into~ Throwing the world back to times when communist were busy gulaging people, crushing religion, and micromanaging people down to who you're allowed to be friends with.. How could you so dishonesty say that it's (the 18yr old policy) just because the gov wants people to choose their religion freely!!! You do know that even inviting people to your religion, all and any religions ( ! Even the "approved" ones.. you didn't talk about that policy) is banned/ illegal! What choose?! Who can even offer! And it's also a "policy" that party members CAN'T be part of any religion.. They MUST be athiest. Literally~ Some of the first postures you see on the walls of any immigrations office is literally "keep your religion to yourself".. And every religious establishment's leaders must literally be chosen by local party officials, AND they literally line the whole building, inside and out with political slogans.. There's much much much more than you dishonestly reduced things to seem.. You're a liar.. And how dare you talk about who is and isn't "brainwashed" when the chinese are literally the ones forming their opinions in an information bubble! Why aren't these conversations had on youku?! Why not on weibo? If they are so confident of their convictions, that are totally not just spoon fed.. Why not have a free internet, and see how it goes? Stop lying! All you guys ever talk about is oh.. look how great they've developed the place, and spread oppertunities.. A) No one is complaining about that! It's about the Unnecessary communism based costs! Singapore is authoritarian, and they developed very fast too.. So did korea.. So did malaysia.. so did taiwan.. without crushing people's faiths, micromanaging people's lives, and being sensitive criminals with so much to hide PLUS all the members THEY report purging in corruption scandals. You're from shanghai.. What was the little red mansion scandal about.. and how confident does that make you that people aren't just being gRaped with impunity, like peng shuai, and in xinjiangs labour camps? What's wrong with you! B) Isn't that such a colonial excuse? The same excuse you hear from Israel (you dare talk about israel, and conflate that with what china does to Uyghurs.. the palestinians fire rockets, and fight all the time, plus there are literally no jews in palestine allowed! What's wrong with you!! I'm actually from a muslim background saying this!) When "bad old" israel says "but we turned the desert into an oasis, but we made the only democracy in the middle east, but we produce so much for the world.." How come when israel or the white man says it.. it's not acceptable.. but when the guys who will never give you citizenship, and will cancel your visa in a sec say it.. 🤷♂️ you totally accept that!! Which actually brings me to your worst point.. That ohhh everyone is so hard on the ccp.. Are you crazy?! What would the me too movement had done to any politician in the west over allegations of gRape?! How much do minorities complain, get a platform and can riot, and burn down cities without anyone charged.. How many churches were burned down in canada, and what happened to anyone involved?! No one excuses the west because of "culture".. But mr. Not brainwashed wants to literally side step logic, and special plead "culture" every two mins.. And it slides🤷♂️🤷♂️ Look at how the west treats white russia in the media! The ccp is literally a spoiled, over sensitive, criminal sugar daddy.. With an o so fragile heart.. And if you want to see what real "cultural conviction" is.. go to japan, and see how their cancel culture doesn't need to be pushed by the government AT ALL.. You know why? Cause that's ACTUAL "cultural attitude" that lives in a free, unprotected BUBBLE.. Not your dam gov led brainPOLLUTION.. You dishonest, seculaRUST, non humane, bot~ And YES the muslims in china ARE FORCED TO DRINK AND EAT PORK EVEN (depending on where you are).. Because otherwise might put their "behavior score" as "highly religous" and "dangerous".. 😠

My wife was born in Lhasa. Missionaries and explorers of the 1950's described Tibet as an "open sewer." Because my wife's mother got sick, they had to walk to China to catch a train to Chengdu. The Dalai Lama never built a school, a road, a hospital, a bridge, rail, or airport. China told the DL to stop facilitating spy documents the CIA was smuggling out of Russia. The DL allowed three more spy missions to cross Tibet and the Chinese stopped it. Under the DL, life expectancy for Tibetans was 33 years,...under China, life expectancy is 56 years, and the lowest point in Tibet is 13,000 feet so people have altitude sickness a lot. Peruvians chew coca leaves to combat altitude sickness but there is no coca bushes in China. I haven't been to Xinjiang but I did know and spend time with a Uyghur family who ran a restaurant in Qingdao. Fifteen years ago, when a professor at the University of Toronto told me that religions have done more harm than good in history, I didn't fully comprehend. I was an active member of a Christian church. Now I totally agree with him. Religions separate people, creating more duality and conflicts. Religious people tend to shut themselves up from testimonies of other religions and spiritual practices. They become so convinced of their own god that so often they are bigoted. When looking at western media bias towards China, (I'm afraid the majority of participants would claim themselves Christians) I seriously wonder how much they have learned from the Bible.
@WilhelminaRa2 жыл бұрын
Its mostly the monotheist religions ,which are the big troublemakers,since intolerance is written into their codex, even though the jews can be excluded from that, because they at least dont take everybody into their ranks, its hard to convert to the jewish relligion, and if you manage that, only your child and only if the mother is jewish,can be a full jew. While Christinas and muslims take everybody and tell everyone else,that they are wrong, at least the majority of those people are peacefull, but sadly it is easier to find an religious extremist among those two groups than in Daoism or Buddhism. allthough Buddhists had a relatively violent history (fighting monks) in Japan for example they got so powerfull they tried to overthrow the shoguns and Oda Nobunaga had to crush those Buddhist power by inviting christian preachers (also to get the rifles from Portugal) and than he fought them off, after that he let the christians to be supressed as well, because he feared nad all of his predecessors too, the potential of extremism (Look up the Shimabara Rebellion). So many wars fought in the name of God, pretty idiotic ,since they all preach peace and harmony, but fail at coexistance...

Are you nuts? The Christian church is premised on the virgin birth of a child. Who in the right frame of mind and understood science would believe in this arid nonsense. China adopts Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights pertaining to religion not because of promoting religion but to ensure those who chose to believe in faiths are allowed to do so. Hence not allowing minor to adopt a religion until they are sufficiently mature enough to do so. It is using Article 18 as a shield and not a sword. That is how it should be.

Cyrus, I absolutely LOVE this video ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️!!! But I have to disagree with Shaun on his point that the Chinese government didn't do a good job at communicating with the world. If China is still the dirt poor country over 40 years ago, the Western government and media wouldn't be attacking China so shamelessly and viciously. The truth is that the Chinese government has done such an incredible job improving the Chinese people's life which makes the Western countries look bad, that they have to deflect their own failures by brainwashing their own people.

Great contribution to understanding of Tibet and Xinjiang. Although by default the western media would dismiss this video as they cannot face the truth. Whatever China does it will be evident in the end. Many foreigners like to separate Chinese into Han, Tibetan, Uygur and others but inside China everyone looks upon oneself as just Chinese. From my own exposure to the Chinese history and culture I know China has no racism. It never had because this is against the ancestor teaching. I think Chinese culturally don't sell themselves because it is more important to control one's own self than influencing other people's view. That is why China never interferes with other nation's internal affairs. If the west choose to believe their own version of truth it is not China's problem.

Maybe US is too sick, they cannot accept any truth about China, so they made up a China of their own imagination to please and comfort themselves. the Insane part is that, when people like you try to tell them the true China, the powerful US media attack you guys saying you guys are bought by Chinese government! why US media and government put so much effort to lie to the Americans about China? I am from Xinjiang, and grew up with so many different minorities in Xinjiang. One point of Shaun that I cannot agree with him anymore, biggest problem of the misunderstanding of China in western is that the communication and international propaganda are missing. Whenever we see our president Xi in international Media, is always in an extremely official way. Even in China, the president Xi doesnot do some personable or down-to-earth interviews, pity of it. Ever time when I expressed my views of reality of China in europe, most of the people were shocked because they have never heard of that. But as I brought some of my friends from Germany to Xinjiang for vacation in 2019, they were really shocked and told me the whole time that they felt being deceived since childhood in Germany 🤣 because they saw a totally different Xinjiang, which has been demonized for so many years in western. But, I mean, when I come out to tell people the truth, most of the keyboarder (键盘侠) will say that I am brainwashed by China, this is one of the biggest "joke" I have ever heart 🤣 I am not brainwashed, its the one, who just believes everything without any hesitation, is brainwashed. Thank you very much sharing this video, hope more and more people will have a real and true view of China in next years.

But he taught us history for so long and never said anything bad about the Chinese government. As Han Chinese, we were very curious about life in Xinjiang and wanted to see it, so we would ask my teacher about it. I don't understand how the Western media can create such strong rumors. I myself have lived in three Western countries for 9 years, but I have suffered from different levels of discrimination and seen injustices against people of color, so why can't the Western countries formalize their own problems? Why do they have to keep on picking on others?

Excellent interview. My takeaway from Shaun’s message is really that China isn’t perfect, and neither the US and the west. So what’s so constructive about the anti-China propaganda going on in the west? Is it the envy of civilisation, or just plain stupidity, bigotry, racism, discrimination? Do they even think for a moment how the Chinese diaspora the world over feel about their crime of racial discrimination? Note: do the Chinese or China, even discriminate westerners and Americans? This is really ugly.

Agree. Even as a Chinese diasporian living in Asia, only been to China proper once in my life, I feel tremendously disappointed in the anti-China propaganda. Especially for decades of respecting to Western societies for its achievements -- in the sense that, there was so much to learn from in terms of knowledge, technology, better business practices, etc. Now, this continued wave of anti-China propaganda is so rapidly depleting the reserves of respect that I had. I can't speak for all, but I believe a good number of people in Asia feel that way. The effects ripple through all, going beyond China, to those who are related to the Chinese, and those who are associated with the Chinese. It's felt throughout.

Thank you Mr. Janssen for this video and the many other videos of yours that I have seen which has helped me to have a more balanced view of life in China and the Chinese government. I retired in 2003 so I have been able to spend a lot of time on KZbin and I have published three books since I have retired, the most recent being the Rise and Fall of Great Empires, which is one of the reasons I spend so much time on KZbin because I have always been interested in world history and modern culture. Being an African American, I have often been on the receiving end of negative American propaganda so I was not as receptive to the negative American propaganda about China as some other Americans. However in 1974, I converted to the religion of Islam and I am a trained teacher and a co-founder of an Islam school (K Thru eighth grade) that has been in existence for over 20 years, so I was very interested in what Mr. Rein said about China's policy concerning education and religion. As a former educator I know that the first decade of a persons life are the formative years and from a religious perspective they are the most important years. Both the American and Chinese governments use public education to instill the values that they want their citizens to have but in all fairness to the Chinese at least the Chinese public schools provide good secular education which is no true in the United States (see Michael Apple's Ideology and Curriculum). But for a serious Muslim it is not enough for our children to get a good secular education because we want our children to be successful in both this life as well as the Hereafter. Nor is there any consolation in knowing that all religions are treated the same.

They are actually languages in their own right as they are unintelligible with each other. The rule of thumb is if you don't understand it, then it is a different language from yours. Thank you for this video. The people you have been bringing on to your shows these days are incredible. Thank you again for connecting me and others to the greater China. I am from the US and I have been introducing your program to my wife, who is of Jewish descent, and my siblings who grew up in the US. It is incredible difficult these days to communicate with even one's closest family members, let along friends, on matters related to politics and the US media propaganda. I began paying attention to Chinese news many years back because I was seeing so many articles in the US criticizing nearly everything about China and started wondering what happened, as this was not the case prior to Barack Obama (it was just beginning then and was not pervasive until Trump came along). By chance, one of the articles made a reference to Global Times, so I went to Global Times to see if Global Times had a response to the article I read. I thought the Global Times's response was reasonable and concluded at the time that the US article clearly didn't not provide the entire context. Since then, every time I read an article from the US media critical of China, I will search through the Chinese media to see if there is a response. Initially, it was tough to find any article in the Chinese media responding to the articles written in the Western media. However, over the year, there are increasing number of articles and news reports responding to the endless negative Western articles on China. Eventually was born the Headline Buster program from CGTN. But, I must admit that many of the episodes from that program could not hold a candle to this interview. These days, I find many of my US friends, and my "Americanized" Chinese relatives, are so turned off or apprehensive about US domestic politics, economics, and the pandemic, that they would rather talk about everything else, like cats, latest reality shows, movies, and/or the weather (not even the Olympics) for fear of getting into an argument. The atmosphere is so toxic these days such that everyone is stepping into a conversation gingerly. Still, whenever I detect over the course of conversation with my friends an open interest in wanting to understand what really are the issues, I introduce them to your program by saying something like "I know of a program on KZbin that could shed some light on the issue if you are interested? I could send you the link." In conclusion, thank you for all the good you are doing.
