@@marcduggins7337 yeah I much prefer the first one. The way it was written, and the way the acting was - it just seemed more natural to me. In the second one the characters seem a bit over-confident and try too hard. In the first they are more like they are here, not really fitting in and just continuing the way things were from the series.

You miss some of the dialogue, because you're talking about how you like it when people roll their own cigarettes for example, and then you wonder what the French guy is doing there because you've missed the dialogue when it was explained he was a foreign exchange student. Please just keep the chatting to when it's paused and don't talk over it, you miss bits and so do we because we can't hear what's being said due to you guys still chatting!

I know this must seem hard to believe given the stereotypes about British people, but we really are like this. There really is a Jay in every group, usually more than one. We are coarse, rude, blunt, dry, sarcastic, brutal and rude ...did I say rude? But it's all about timing and comedy. Get it right and it's gold. We call it banter. You have to get good at it when you're a kid, because if you haven't got the basics down by the time you start work, you'll get slaughtered. It's kind of how we work out the wankers from the muppets ...look at almost any British comedy show and you will see elements of this in all of them. Here's the key though ...we are rubbish. We are all losers and we know it. The British guy will be the one who knows he has the smallest cock in the room ...and then tells everyone how crap his life is because of it. We genuinely enjoy laughing at our own crapness ...and that's what makes us funny as fu**. If you cant laugh at your own flaws, you're definitely a wanker.

French guy comes from an exchange. In uk we have student exchange as we are so close to Europe. It's supposed to be cultural. So UK family has school student from France, Germany, Spain etc and French , German Spanish family etc gets the British student usually for a week or two. You get paid to host / have a student and you show them what British life is all about and vice a versa.

Yeh agreed, that's what I think is meant by "there's always 1 Jay in a group" - it's that resident bullsh*tter/exaggerator who's always in a group who's always all talk no action and always making up ridiculous stories that are obviously nonsense. Before inbetweeners, yeh I never knew anyone who was quite that dirty, but I remember a couple of bullsh*tters from school/college. But ironically, I think the Inbetweeners led to people talking like Jay on purpose almost to reference back to the Inbetweeners as a joke! Jay-dirty-talk has almost become a postmodern parody of itself!

Firstly let me say I love US comedy and this series possibly exemplifies our cultural differences in how we view comedy. Many US comedies will always end on a happy note. The boy gets his girl, the problem is solved, the group get their just desserts. It reflects the very optimistic nature of the USA. Most good British comedy will put the characters in a bad situation and then turn the screw. The characters start with a plan and then crap is just heaped upon them. I will let you be the judge on how that reflects on us Brits. Great reaction channel by the way and stay safe in the hurricane.

We basically don't have a dream in this country - we just want to get by and do OK. We don't think very highly of ourselves compared to the way most Americans consider themselves. It's not lack of confidence really, it's that we are far more self-effacing and don't get that upset if things turn to crap

Saw a video earlier today from 2008 when The Inbetweeners won their first television award, when they went up to collect their award, they were pelted by trash and bottles by a disgruntled losing nominee. Little did anyone know at the time how popular this show would go on to become and is still watched and loved decades later 💙
